I really like the "idea" of apples "time machine", but unfortunately it's actually pretty hard to manage for users who use multiple drives.

I got about 200 gigs, not counting, samples, loops or stacks of back up cd's, dvd's and old hard drives that aren't plugged in
The big question here, is what percentage of your music collections has been obtained legally...

forums have kinda takin' a back seat to all the other forms of social network that we have these days, and honestly... I've kinda got pretty bored of all of them except Twitter, because i can easily "twat" from my phone in about 30 seconds.

Massive big ups to Melo, Eldee, Wally, Micos, Milton, Steve, the venue's crew (Really good ppl) and all involved.
Venue was Great, and all the DJ's killed it.
Frankie's set was decent, but personally I think Pinky and Marty stole the show...
And what can ya say about Marty... This guy just fuckin' rocks!!!
I really enjoyed chillin' with him, his wife and the PB boys in the private booth.
As it was kinda like a Breakbeat Mafia situation in there, except if you were to use the term "Wise-Guy" it wouldn't be in the Mafia sense at all.

As far as frankie Bones being a wierd guy...
He seemed very professional and played his part well, so i got nothing but good things to say...
except maybe regarding his fashion sense.

Even if you have a mixer... It's not going to be any less tedious tracking into your DAW if you don't have a sound card with multiple ins to plug those outs into... And if you had that, you wouldn't need a mixer.
The MPC does have a stereo out as well, which is fine when your banging out an idea.
Throwing a mixer into things is really just making more trouble for yourself.

don't bother buying a desktop mixer...
unless your in a band or plan to jam live with friends big fat waste of money.
as long as you got an audio in on your tracktor box you should be able to use that if you want to record...
just plug it into you dj mixer if you wanna jam and BOOM yer in there buddy.
you'll probably end up doing 90% of your production with it, and the only hassle your ever going to have is if you want to track to your DAW.
In which case your just going to have to record one or two track sat a time, which isn't the end of the world.

also... just a warning...
once you get to know it a little better, be prepared to start shelling out more loot for the upgrades... Yer probably gunna want the RAM, a Hard-Drive, a third party operating system (like JJOS) and the pad upgrade.

The unit you just posted is USB not FireWire craigy... Which might be a good solution to Liams problem.
RME makes amazing stuff...
Really pricey though... Might be overkill recommending a interface that costs more than a new comp.
Personally if I was gunna spend that much I'd go for the apogee or metric halo...
But I'm also a Mac guy... So that would be my obvious answer.
Honestly I'm thinking a little Mbox is Liams best bet if he's not buying a new comp any time soon.

You don't need anything too special to record dj sets, but your comp is going to limit your options due to the lack of fire wire and down the road it may make you want to upgrade your whole kit, because USB interfaces are known for being unreliable.
If you will be working heavily with your mpc.
The Mpc has multiple outputs (6 I think?) for recording so you may want to take this in mind when choosing your interface, as it will save you the trouble of recording MPC parts 1 by 1 into your DAW.
personally I would suggest checking out digidesign's stuff and see if they make a protools unit that fits your needs, as a MPC and protools would be a very nice little set up.

Here's the deal...
There are 6 mac addresses being used on my network.
1 mac running OSX 10.6, 1 pc running windows 7, 1 pc running XP, a blackberry and an Iphone all using wifi and 1 xbox 360 that is hard wired ethernet.
What i need to do is find a way of monitoring how much bandwith each device uses over X amount of time.
What is the easiest way to do this??

Lucien allier is actually a pretty rich hood but there are tons of crackeez around the metro shooting heroin into there dismembered stumps an so forth...
George vanier has some projects nearby but it's nowhere near as bad as it was 10 years ago.
I've seen some shit go down in that hood, but your probably not going to find trouble unless you go looking for it.
Honestly the biggest drawback about these neighborhoods is the lack of grocery stores and decent restaurants.

I'm not much of a p.c. Guy anymore (so I could be wrong about win 7)... But last time I checked having multiple user profiles wastes more CPU and makes your system less stable than trying to optimize your recources...
My advice would be to keep it simple as you can and ditch your fast track for a fire wire interface.
Slow ass USB and wrestling with drivers isn't going to help out your situation at all..

i've really been feeling where steve is coming from these days.
i've been buying digital files and producing digitally for the past few years and it's kinda been turning me off of music all together...
sometimes i think that having no limitations is in itself a limitation.
so many innovations in the technology, yet i'm not hearing any innovations in the music???

anyway... i don't wanna go over the pros and cons of analog vs digital or new school vs old school for the 10000000th time...
but i really feel that digital media is missing something...
i'm not going to say it's bass, warmth, frequencies or anything remotely logical.

There's really something special about records.
There's a story behind every one... it's like they have blood or some kind of life force behind them.
recently i've kinda been diving into some hip hop stuff, so i've been doing some scratching and sampling, and me and the guy i've been working with decided we needed some new battle records, so we hopped in the whip and hit the shops for a big digging session...
unfortunately we didn't find a single battle record ANYWHERE, but man...
it felt so good to dig again.
just spending hours sifting through all those life stories and lost dreams, i honestly felt a sense of peace that i haven't felt in years.
like the whole whole world outside the shop didn't exist for those few hours and time was just standing still...
unfortunately it wasn't...
and i got that tap on my shoulder... "we're closing up guys"
which gave me that little lump in throat, cuz it's something i've heard from so many shops that just couldn't compete in the cold soulless world of the digital market.
so i made the best of it.
dropped 40 bucks on my fat stack of black boogers and broken dreams.
and proceeded home to sample the shit out of an old ed allen work out record.
what it all means?
probably nothing...
but i can tell you this.
There's something special in those records...
and there is no key commands that'll ever take that away.

does anybody know where i can find parts for a vestax 05 pro?
i'm trying to repair one and i need to find new RCA conectors for it and they don't seem to offer them anywhere???
i'd even be into buying another old busted one that i can use for parts...
I can post pics of the parts i need if anybody thinks they can help.
