i'd be pretty skeptical about buying the first version.
looks like a pretty cheap build by a company that doesn't have much of a reputation for hardware.
those platters look really cheap and there seems to be a serious lack of info online about them and their sensitivity (do they have two points of sensitivity? or just one?).
the numark NS7FX (now available at futurshop wtf??) honestly looks like a much better build than this thing.
It also doesn't appear to have a mic input.
is the mixer even real or is it a controller with a software emulator???
what are the inputs in the back for???
are they actual inputs? or are do you still have to wire it up the same way you wire tractor?
both have their advantages and disadvantages...
but it would be nice if the company would state some real specs and a better demonstration of the hardware rather than focusing the demo on the software.
the numbers don't add up either...
when companys offer that many features on a product for such a low price...
unfortunately it usually means they are cheaping out somewhere.
and despite my negative opinions...
not having used it, i can't say it's a bad product...
but i'd be very very skeptical about dropping 1000 of my hard earned dollars on this thing.
my advice is to wait till it comes out, and try it for yourself and see how you like it first.
or even better... wait till V2 comes out and all the kinks get worked out based on what the users think.
untill i hear ppl screaming off the roof about how great this thing is...
it's just another potential failure of a product with big claims to "change the DJ world forever"

I just did a quick look around and the only disks i can find are for snow leopard and tiger...
I know i have the upgrade dvd somewhere cuz it came with my imac shipped with it in the box. So I'll do a better look around this week if you don't find it sooner.
but seriously...
leopard is a very heavy upgrade for a g4 and it's probably going to put some serious lag on your system. not mention... it takes a fuck ton worth of hard drive space (install is at least 10 gigs!!!) and it's not as solid as tiger or snow leopard.
in otherwords... what may be great for you iphone...
may not be so great for your lappy.
and on a side note... if your iphone isn't a 3GS or higher... DON'T INSTALL IOS4!!!
at least until there is a update that fixes the lag issues.
and even then, the older hardware still won't be able to handle IOS4's more advanced functions (like multi tasking) and they will be disabled by default on the 3G model.

anyway... i at least hope your not rocking this thing...

Last time I checked Fido has two types of pay as you go plans...
The one has no rollover minutes and really high rates. And the other requires that you sign some sort of contract for better rates and roll overs.

it's got up to 20 ins and 22 outs, it doubles as a stand alone mixer with your computer turned off and will give you much better results than a budget console when it comes to recording all your gear.

mackie mixers are really not that great.

unless your mixing live bands or putting together a studio that is trying to achieve a certain sound, I personally don't really see the point of buying a board like that for home use.
The pre amps are always mediocre at best and your probably way better off putting your cash into a solid firewire card with an internal mixer.
heck... alot of models will even act as a mixer with your computer turned off.
you could probably ebay your ass a motu for 3 bills and kill a few birds with one stone.
the way i look at it is that cash doesn't grow on trees... and either does desk space.

I've been to bovine once and it was actually super lame when i went, but it coulda just been an off night?
If you can find the calendar there's big bops (almost across the street from bovine) that has punk, goth and industrial shows pretty often, but its a show too bar so you gotta go on the right nights if you really wanna hang with the smelly ppl. =P
most of the cool spots are on or around the grimey parts of queen west of bathhurt though...
when i'm in town i usually just bar hop from dive to dive in parkdale and then hit a club (which you might be better off doing in the first place).
honestly... the dive bar scene in montreal is way better, but clubbing can be pretty epic if you pick the right night.
you might like the beaver... not really a rock bar but it's fag hag central and a good place to have a meal and a couple pints after the food stops, so it might be up your alley too?
