also i'd like to know if there is an adapter that can convert firewire 400 to thunderbolt (as it would be very handy to be able to use my duet with a new lappy) and if anybody knows how well lion networks with snow other macs that are running snow leopard.

You're better off waiting till the new iPhone release and getting that.
Everybody I know who has bought an android phone has either regretted thier purchase or exchanged it for an iPhone within 30 days.
Mainly because of batterie issues as there is not a phone on the market that lives up to supposed benchmark specs aside from the iPhone 4.
I don't want to sound like I'm hating on the droit phones either, as I think open source is fucking great, but really... It's kind of a pain in the ass to have on a phone.
Its a private thing and any shit head can atractivly package mal ware for you to install in an open source market and can affect your phone coming through for you when you need it the most (as a phone).

but like fishhead said... there aren't many dj's willing to move their gear around and you'll probably be better off carting yourself around than having someone else lug 2000$$ worth of gear.
and if your going the route of proper lessons, it's probably in your best interest to start thinking about getting some gear for yourself because after you take a lesson your probably gunna want to practice what you've learned before your next lesson.

Personally I wouldn't fuck around with groups anywhere near railways or train yards. It's not only dangerous, but I'm pretty sure it's a federal offense that you can get thrown in jail for without question.

And one thing I've learned over the years about throwing parties is that you should always prepare for the worst and as much respect as i have for everyone involved for taking risks that I would never take myself, I don't think that this was done in this situation.

There is nothing covert about organizing something on private property that can be easily be scene on google street view. Not to mention there was train yard across the street as well a large business with 24 surveillance and security.

Anything at this spot that went off without a hitch in the past was honestly a downright lucky fluke.

And a fluke with much lower expectations than this.

4 stages, tents, sound systems and 1500 ppl was aiming a little bit too high if you ask me.
We live in city of 3 million people where housing is limited, let alone cool outdoor spots to throw an allnight party.

If the organizers have the power to bring together 4 soundsystems/ stages and 1500 people to some ghetto ass toxic dumping ground on the south side of the canal imagine what they could of pulled off with a little bit of foresight, a shuttlebus and a little more organization.

Anyway... I went out expecting to see a shit show and I got it without having to spend a penny, so my expectations were met in full.

Well I just picked it up and it apears to worth every penny and more.
REALLY HAPPY with it!
If your using serato or tracktor I highly recommend it.
Probably the simplest instalation I've ever performed.
Literally plug and play with serato (providing you tunes are analyzed).
Looping function is perfect (even better than most CDJ's) and the loop roll is phenomenal.
ABSOLUTELY BAD ASS!!!
If you have serato and a hundred bucks lying around BUY IT!!
it's like a cdj fucked your turntable and you don't have to even look at your computer...
Great piece of kit!!

i dunno... but a summer or two ago there was a bunch of activist in front of the kfc in ndg holding signs and screaming that kfc punches chickens in the face....

I just picked up serato this week hoping it would eliminate some hang ups I had going with my home set up...
For the most part it's pretty sweet, but fucking hell... the library management is making me fucking crazy.
I had really simple playlist set up in itunes for burning C.D.'s which worked out really well for years.
Basically I have a series of playlists broken down into groups like this

group 1 is by store and date purchased. so I always know where my my newest tunes are.
group 2 is by key... A playlist for each key to help me work out sets
group 3 is by Set... These playlists are ready to burn for gigs.

Straight forward and simple, but everything is spread out over different hard drives.

I figured out how to get serato to see my itunes playlists, but when i want to play them i keep getting the msg "file not found" for about 75% of my files...
so I started going through everything manually and locating files to put in serato crates...
which was great until i closed the software and reopened it to discover that out of everything i took the time to locate, serato only seemed to remember the path to about 25% of the files.

So basically I'm loosing it with serato's file management and I have too much stuff to store on my startup disk...

how the fuck do I make serato find and remember shit???
