I agree I think spiritual experiences are a lot more profound when sober. Meditation, walks in the forest, communion between two people, are more powerful sober. I think drugs are for recreational uses, I completely disagree with most of what Terence McKenna says, for example. While, the Dalia Lama is known to have said that if there was pill to reach enlightenment he would support it, I believe in the importance of ritual and commitment. Working, concentrating, devoting yourself to something without it so much would be meaningless, although that's just me. Maybe I will change my mind when I'm old and think everything should be easy.

trees are most delightful on shrooms, the branches often do a kaleidescope thing :p The bark pulses, like you can see the breath of the tree :)

Most people I know started with one gram and tolerance increases to 5-7g within an average of 5 trips. It varies a lot though. It depends on the person and on the shroom. Some shrooms are dry as hell (old) or sometimes you get some really fresh colourful ones (green, blue, red, not in the same shroom, depending on the batch).

I've spent all my shroom trips except one in nature/forest. In winter it is most amazing, dress warm and play in the snow... feels awesome.

p.s. giggling is a must ;)

I also find on acid that everything that "matters" e.g., work, money, school, status, suddenly seems trivial. I wont really get into it, yoshin did a great job summarizing the experience. Although, I did experience a lot of the mind-opening, perception changing, aspect with shrooms. I like shrooms better because you can better control the dose. The trip and buzz is very similar and completely different at the same time. I've never been very good at externalizing what I feel and think during a trip, but I feel it and see it as deeply as those that are able to express it.

one difference, I know a few people who say they love to dance on acid, I can't do it, my legs become pure jell-o, my legs always do that on acid or shrooms, I just wanna float float float, relax, talk, watch a trippy movie. When I do it at outdoor parties I always end up in forest or on swings, or lying on the grass watching the sky or people...

a "cure" implies permanent solution... a seven day relief is not a cure :p

What is nice over anti-depressant is that the effect is instantaneous rather than the dreadful 3 month period of downs or up and down (depending on the case) at which point the "I feel nothing" phase kicks in which isn't really a cure either, especially that feeling nothing sucks.

while these elicit drugs may seem like a better alternative, they can also make people very unstable, similar to a person take keeps stopping his/her meds.

I'm sure someone has compared the molecular structure and regiochemistry of anti-depressants versus psychotropics, would be interesting to see.

p.s. I like to party too, just would be careful before advising a clinically depressed person to take street drugs :p

so who wants to participant in their study :D

I didn't read the actual article, however with the brief post I see two things wrong with the survey,

(1) psychometrics indicates that a likert-scale between 0 and 100 is much to broad to gather any meaningful data e.g. what is the difference between 33 and 39 or 10 and 20, is there real difference, while anyone can agree on the real difference between a score of 50 and 100, it is up for debate that on such a large scale that there are any real difference between close numbers. It is best to use a small scale, like 1 to 5 where difference between 2 and 3 carry more weight than the difference between 20 and 30.

(2) the physicians are probably exposed to people who abuse alcohol than illegal and/or psychotropic, this disproportionate exposer may distort the data. For this point, I would have to look at the surveyed sample, perhaps they included a fair number of psychiatrist or physicians that specialize in substance abuse other than alcohol.

with that said, doesn't mean I don't agree with the general thesis, many studies show that illegal drugs are less detrimental to one's ability to successfully navigate through life i.e., maintaining a job, family, or motor reflexes which are important for driving a vehicle.

Studies have also shown that social behaviour such as gambling are more detrimental :/

I don't like k either... the only time that shit goes down well (or should I say up) for me, is after a long night of partying and your vegging before going to bed and you wanna just smooth into it without crashing too hard. Or sometimes, although rarely, I get dizzy and nauseous on mdma, and I find a bump of k takes dizziness and nausea away, not sure why, haven't looked it up. Every other time I've taken a bump in other circumstances, like in the middle of the party, I regretted it, fucking sucks, can't see shit everything is wobbly, bleh.

As for speed, that shit is really bad on for your nervous system, it causes all kinds of secondary effects on the heart and other vital organs, cocaine will cause similar problems.

mdma and lsd... other than that :/

it's hard to please everyone...

we all have opinions of how things should be...

I don't think there is a right answer here...

Go to the events that please you, if that's a smoke free event, check the venu before buying your ticket...

as for the refund, I would of sold it outside, the organizer has a lot on his mind and a refund is the least of his worried...

keep it real psy-freaks :p ! It's all about the trance dance <3

it is true that raves lack comfortable place to chill, more and more I find I got no where to rest my legs... there are some shady couches sometimes that I debate for over 45mins whether I wanna sit on it hahaha

and there may have been more than smoke in that room/building, many bacteria and fungi cause respiratory problems and coupled with the smoke, it increases the chances of having a reaction such as inflation of mucus membrane or an asthma attack.

tickets are nonrefundable, and Vince can be a dick

In all, it seems like it was just a bad night... everyone gets them at a rave or otherwise, I suppose you can be thankful that it didn’t happen for a huge event with a hefty ticket price...

Warning: Incoming Game was the party, happy hardcore, psy and dubstep room, at 3am they let the clubbers in our section and it was a nightmare, and before that the vibe just never grew, it was an awkward night at best.

I like to dance without worrying that some dude will try to hook onto my hips and rub himself on me... I did that whole scene when I was younger listening to hip hop and reggae, now I like to enter a trance worry-free and just dance to beats that make me smile. Sometimes nothing stops the guys, they see that you have a bf and they still try to hump you on the dance floor, OK I am exaggerating with the humping, but any girl knows what I mean. It’s just not what I am looking for when I go out to trance on psychedelic trance. There’s nothing wrong with two consenting people wining or what not on the dance floor, it just sucks when all night you have to avoid eye contact to decrease the likelihood of being sucked into a circle of guys swinging their cocks at you. It still happens to me even though I’m not dressed half naked like so many clubber chicks... so I avoid after hours.

The most I have to worry about in raves is accidentally bumping into someone and “grabbing” their ass... In raves I am more worried about being talked to death by some dude high on E that just wants to give me a hug after asking my name.

anyhow, I guess you gotta be a girl that doesn’t like to pick up guys at a club to understand what it’s like...

p.s. I went out to circus that night before my bf was playing in psy room... otherwise I wouldn’t of gone Principle of Flight or not... and they sucked anyway :p

I’m not an organizer or promoter, so for the business aspect, you may be right!

but, we (rave scene) had a major (3 rooms) event a few months ago at the circus, and what we described is what happened —> meat market, no vibe...

although, I am not familiar with the Circus vs Stereo debate (I avoid after hours at all costs)

I went to a few parties where it was (mandatory) smoke-free dance floor, we smoked indoors but just not on the dance floor, since then I have developed the habit, I most often then not go to the back and smoke and then go back to the center-side to dance... except mary jane, she comes with me every where... Of course that does nothing for the smell...

I hate going outside for a smoke during a rave, at any other time or type of event, I don't mind, but a rave, it's just nice to have everything you want right at my finger tips :p
