On a ligher note

Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take ya
Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama
Key Largo, Montego,
baby why don't we go,
Jamaica

Off the Florida Keys
there's a place called Kokomo
That's where you wanna go
to get away from it all
Bodies in the sand,
tropical drink melting in your hand
We'll be falling in love
to the rhythm of a steel drum band
Down in Kokomo

[Chorus:]
Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take you to
Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama
Key Largo Montego,
baby why don't we go
Ooh I wanna take you down to Kokomo,
we'll get there fast
and then we'll take it slow
That's where we wanna go,
way down in Kokomo.

Martinique, that Monserrat mystique...

We'll put out to sea
and we'll perfect our chemistry
By and by we'll defy
a little bit of gravity
Afternoon delight,
cocktails and moonlit nights
That dreamy look in your eye,
give me a tropical contact high
Way down in Kokomo

[Chorus]

Port au Prince, I wanna catch a glimpse...

Everybody knows a little place like Kokomo
Now if you wanna go to get away from it all
Go down to Kokomo

[Chorus]

hehehe Beach Boys :)

my boy toy caught me whisper singing this on a bed, in my undies on my belly gently swinging my legs in the air :p

Oh, well it was the first psymind I went to, maybe that's what I meant. There wasn't really any deco in the psy room, but the ambient room was awesome.

Maybe it's because I don't really count backdrops as deco... haha probably weird, I know. I find they give parties a museum feel, I walk around look at them, like in a museum, and once I have inspected them, judged my likeness they kinda disappear in the background. The deco I remember is always the hanging stuff, the bits and pieces of material that come together to make some abstract or specific larger piece. A good example of that is Noah's space bass, holy cow there was stuff everywhere and it wasn't annoying! I love it when there are structures (like what bubble does), and spider web like tangles of material on the ceiling (like at jungle mind, but more with larger pieces). Come to think of it the ceiling piece in the sit down area near the projection was cool also. ...there was a lot of deco, it just didn't stick out. I didn't feel like I was in the jungle hehehehe ;)

The psymind I missed with Asura I think, everyone told me the deco was awesome, all white I think...

Don't take it personally, we are both entitled to be impressed by different things... I am sure I have found something to be amazing and you plain... we definitely have different tastes... so...

Also, Vince's parties, it's just backdrops... painting... a whole series or never ending paintings, which are awesome, for sure, but the middle of the room is devoid, you have to look away from the dance floor to get a psychedelic feel... meh.

whatever floats your boat :)

It was only because I was expected something majestic that I thought it was satisfactory, and I was only expecting that because of all the pictures and wonderful things people told me about psymind and open mind, it wasn't a negative comment. Only my expectations. I went to one psymind, I think the first one, which had the wonderful pillow room, I danced all night but still was amazed at all the pillows, feathers and glitter. Anyhow, I liked the streamer jungle vine type deco, which I think is yours and that was also in the washroom, that was a nice touch.

No one seems to be putting their input... maybe many of the attendees are not on [ rave.ca ]

The event was clearly a success, lots of pple, good vibe, everything needed was provided (sitting area, nice sized dance floor, good sound, tea stand, clean washrooms). In general I had a good time. Although, I was a bit surprised by the lack of massive majestic magic deco, I was really expecting something out of the ordinary, while the deco present was satisfactory, I was expecting more. Music wise, it was a bit too house tek for me. DJ AKIBEL, KILLED IT, thank you for playing morning full on, was insane, so good. I really enjoyed seeing so many faces I hadn't seen since the summer, so that was nice too. Lastly, I wished someone burned some sage and that others wore patchouli :p there we some smells the whole night hahahahaha (the boiling mushroom tea, doesn't count, can't be avoided).

"Typically you have between 2 minutes and 1 hour safe exposure time in a club" 100-120 dBA
SEE GRAPH

"The current study found that 35% of attendees were 30 years of age or older, all having commenced clubbing in their late teens or early 20s. The eldest individual was 42 years and had been clubbing for 25 years. At the average exposure per week of 12.2 Pa 2 h, this implies that this individual has already accumulated a minimum life-time exposure equivalent to 71.4 aye, almost twice the exposure that could be expected from work alone. Further studies at NAL are currently under way to examine attendance rate over time (age)."

and from the Sound Engineer handbook

105 = 1 hour
110 = 30mins
115 = < 25mins

and 84 dBA is recommended to prevent permanent damage

---

In general and in agreement of most of what has been said, if you were to chose a festival OpenMind would be it. Other than that, I lean towards no kids when adults are at play.

I personally condur on the Mary Jane = no dreams, I mainly only smoke during the summer with the occasional exception (stop during the school semesters of fall and winter), and it happens to me, I dream all winter long and remember the rarest of dreams during the summer.

I don't know too too much on the subject, although I took a class with Dr. Jean-Roch Lawrence (Hypnosis and Dissociation) and he mentioned that frequent cannabis users report not dreaming. And that when they quit smoking dreaming seems to come back in an exponential manner. Almost in a direction relationship, the longer you smoked the more dreams you will have till your caught up once having stopped. Now I can't remember if REM sleep was diminished or not, the supposed time when we dream.

I think Nature will be the darker side of the vibe found at Space Gathering, and the more relaxed vibe that you would find there will be at Psymind. I am definitely looking forwards to Les Bucherons, it's so different, very dark :p or at least last year it was. The stage at the bottom had some funk ass music, live bands etc.

I always wanted to try the dreadlocks thing out, and I did... only lasted 13 months, for exactly all the reasons mentioned already. The first day I went to class without my dreads, shaved head, several students said it was the best thing to do (which I kinda resent). From a comfort perspective, my scalp really didn't like the dreads, I either had to wash them twice a week or not at all (for several weeks) for my scalp to be content. And to have nice dreads, and I think I had nice ones, the maintenance was just incredible... the loose hairs are never ending, constant need to crochet them. Yeah, I wore a hat or wtv, but it was hot and annoying not to have my head free.

In all, I'm glad I did it, always wanted to, but it's not for me :)) plus now pple keep telling how cute I am with short hair ;)

AleinZed's dreads are Epic hehehe, and you can tell that Yoshin's are half natural, they are sooooooooooo smoooth looking, really soft, you don't see the knots in them as much as other dreads.

In all, stick it to the man while playing by the rules :p

Psymind will definitely rock!! Adam is the fairy king :))

I didn't say I didn't let them do their hoodoo, I find it's funny, and don't think it's significant contribution to my person... I find it funny because I am at a rave, in a dark room letting lose, dancing all night, I go else where for spiritual support :) Outdoor festivals are different, they have private kiosks, conferences and workshops, if I would participate it would be in that setting.

p.s. I don't drink either, haven't for almost 10 years, and never really did in the first place, I totally understand what you mean about drunks... I avoid bars like the plague.

I personally get really annoyed when I have to concentrate to read a simple word, i.e., I like simple fonts, they can have shadows and what not, but let it be legible, the flyer is made to convey information, if I can't get to it, it's pointless. So, I agree with you Mike, functionality should always win... within certain limits (creativity has it's place) :p

I really like the glass looking flower, I like the version that is really bright (since it's a spring party). But, the texture could be increased, and in order to see it more, can you flip it, like put the flower on the right side instead of under all the DJ names...? I dunno, maybe it will look worst, just a thought.

I like Psychedelica on the bottom also, but with the other font, the square-ish funky font you had before, it was totally legible.

Lastly, I dont like names like "psychedelica strikes back" especially since psy parties rarely have themes, so the names are completely pointless. Psychedelica 5 or wtv number is passible, but may be unnecessary, it will be written in the info that the promotors are bringing you yet another quality event and so on. It's not SOMA 10, it's fucking called SOMA, end of story.

Update » perception wrote on Mon Feb 28, 2011 @ 2:08am
oh, and, wouldn't it be out of place to ask feedback on a flyer in the event section? Wouldn't it lead to people requesting details or people cheering on the event or saying they will attend... I dunno, I'm wondering. Maybe there should be an art section...?

I personaly dont like K but i dont bash it cause i do enjoy other drugs but what ever happen to rave etiquette??

I personally rather be aware of what people are doing in and around me, for safety reasons and for selfish reasons such as bracing myself as to what to expect, will he talk super fast or will he fall all over me, I like to know ahead of time :p And honestly, I associated hiding in the washroom with (1) the person is ashamed they are doing drugs, or (2) they don't want to share.

I get it, there can be a sort of etiquette to drug consumption, like yelling it out is unnecessary and taking a bump is someone's face is unattractive.

I too kinda look down on K, and it is everywhere nowadays... I am not a fan of speed either. Speed for the health hazard and K for the way people are on that stuff, kinda lame. But cocaine is the worst, everyone on that shit becomes pretentious, everyone does, I've never been around someone doing coke and not want to punch them.

stick to the psychedelic folks :p

but I like the K is like french fries analogy, side dish only, I dig it.

I was just discussing with my bf the fact that pills prices have dropped like mad, we both remember paying or at least people trying to get us to pay between 40$ to 25$ a pill (like 5-10 years ago). We've been trying to figure out if it's because we hang out with "dealers" or if the prices did really drop... what does a clubber pay at redlight...!?

On topic...

I heard rumours as of why there was no Eclipse, but they are bad press and no guarantee it's true, so I won't repeat what I heard, but most of the Eclipse crew and fans are heading to El Hal. While, the Space Gathering party was kinda swallowed whole by Psymind, this was partly intended and partly undesired.

Free not there will be several outdoor events that will surely deliver your fix of psytrance goodness.

Off topic...

I pretty much only go to psy events, and THEY ARE FILLED WITH FUNNY WEIRD PEOPLE, people come up to me saying the most retarded shit all the time, like "do you want me to heal your energy", honestly, if I want to change something about myself, I have to do it myself, your little 15 Min hoodoo will not be a significant contributor to who I will become. hahaha OK it's late. Seriously, I get weird propositions like that all the time, and it increased 10 fold when I dreaded my hair, glad to say that only last one year. And I think it's important to mention that I am into holistic practices, and am initiated in practices like reiki and other "energy medicines", and even I think some hippies are weird...

I'm a chick and I also tend to agree with suggesting to women not to dress like a tramp, there is a different between dressing in a revealing sexy way (classy) and dressing cheap. Also, there is a the part of behaviour, you can be dressed like a guy and act totally slutty, and you can be dressed like a tramp and be prude.

What is really disgusting and unforgivable about rape is that once the chick starts to fight you off (screams, pushes, kicks, cries wtv), if no wasn't clear enough, no matter the circumstances that lead to the act, a guy should be able to stop. "She was asking for it" is not an argument, even if he truly believe that, once the girl is panicking and screaming, it should turn him off, and if it doesn't he belong in therapy. (I am not including consensual B&D or wtv it's called). That's what always ticked me off about rape.

I am a psychology major, I can see/understand how one can get into such a situation, it's not being able to stop and reasoning through dishonourable behaviour that I don't get.

Rape does ruin lives, imagine making clear what you want and someone deciding that what you want doesn't matter, I would relate rape to being in a concentration camp, someone is violating the most intimate aspects that make you a person.
