they HAVE been saying they were going to do it for a while...iran was supposed to open its own oil-trading stock market, or oil bourse, in march of this year but the plan was stalled.. this is the wiki entry about it:

Background

The three current oil markers are all US dollar denominated: North America's West Texas Intermediate crude (WTI), North Sea Brent Crude, and the UAE Dubai Crude. The two major oil bourses are the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYME) in New York City and the International Petroleum Exchange (IPE) in London. The proposed Iranian bourse would establish a fourth oil marker, denominated by the euro.

[edit] Timeline

The Iranian oil bourse, first reported in 2005, was to have a planned opening date of March 20, 2006 [2], which is the Iranian New Year, Nauroz. According to an April 2005 report, the Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE), the Wimpole Consortium and a private staff fund for retired petroleum workers will together form the consortium developing the exchange [3].

In January 2006, Chris Cook of the Wimpole Consortium referred to delays in the process due to the election to the presidency of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and subsequent difficulty in appointing a new oil minister acceptable both to the president and parliament [4].

In March 2006, the Petroleum Minister of Iran, Kazem Vaziri Hamaneh, announced that due to "technical glitches", the Bourse launch was postponed, with no new date set. [5]. However, as of April 26 Iran had restarted its move to open the oil market, and Kazem announced the bourse was set to open the first week of May [6].

In May 2006, Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Davud Danesh-Jafari said the Oil Ministry has a two-month deadline for presenting the Articles of Association of the Iranian Oil Bourse. Danesh-Jafari said that the Euro had not yet been finalized as the legal tender of transactions in the oil bourse, and the final decision about that depends upon the Oil Ministry’s proposed IOB Articles of Association [7]

During the first phase of its implementation, the Iranian Oil Bourse plans to offer financial derivatives relating to crude oil.

In July 2006, a building has been purchased and the projected opening date is September 2006. [8] On September 15, Oil Minister Kazem Vaziri-Hamaneh stated that all preparatory requirements had been arranged for launching the oil stock market in the country.[9]

In December 2006 Bloomberg cited two Iranian newspapers reporting Iran's Minister of Economy Davoud Danesh-Ja'fariIran as wanting to cut US dollar based transactions to a minimum.[10] Iran-Kyrgyzstan Joint Economic Commission will credit 50 Million Euros to Kyrgyzstan for primarily industrial joint projects, showing a strong commitment to large Euro dealing.

well, human stomachs are, but the concentration isnt enough to cause immediate corrosive damage if you were to plunge your hand into it. its only about 0.15M.
dolphins have 3 stomachs, and in this case it was surely the 1st stomach that the guy had to reach into. there is almost no chemical digestion that takes place in the 1st stomach, so he would have been ok.

(This is a transcript from PM. The program is broadcast around Australia at 5:10pm on Radio National and 6:10pm on ABC Local Radio.)

PM - Tuesday, 5 December , 2006 21:17:05
Reporter: Conor Duffy

MARK COLVIN: It's 34 years this month since human beings last walked on the moon, but now humanity could be on its way back there.

The US space agency NASA has announced plans to set up a self-sustaining lunar station on the moon around the year 2020.

The moon station would be used as a stepping-stone to a possible landing and settlement on Mars.

Conor Duffy reports.

NASA WEBSITE: Have you ever considered living on the moon? You could be a pioneer who begins the settlement of the moon and the planet.

CONOR DUFFY: That's the NASA pitch to potential moon dwellers.

The US space agency has announced plans for a permanent settlement on the moon, starting in 2020.

Space consultant and former NASA employee Charles Vick says NASA will start with a single landing and weeklong stints by astronauts.

CHARLES VICK: Initially we start with a vehicle that is effectively our lander. It is a major national task to be able to do this.

CONOR DUFFY: Building it will be tough enough, living there may be even harder.

CHARLES VICK: Near pitch black and its near completely as cold as you could ask it to be, minus whatever it is.

There are areas that have not seen sunlight for as long as humanity knows.

CONOR DUFFY: Mr Vick says that as well as the difficult weather, there's also storms more powerful than any cyclone, hurricane or earthquake to contend with, making underground living a must.

CHARLES VICK: Solar storms especially; you must put the shelters underground.

CONOR DUFFY: Most of our listeners wouldn't be aware of what a space storm or a solar storm is. Could you talk us through what it would be like to experience one?

CHARLES VICK: Basically a powerful radiation storm, somewhat like the effects of a nuclear blast, except you're getting all the radiation in a concentrated way that can be quite deadly.

CONOR DUFFY: NASA says the base will also be used as a stepping stone for a possible mission to Mars and it's looking for international help for the journey.

Les Dalyrmple, an editor with Australian Sky and telescope magazine hopes Australia will have a role in the $17 billion a year project.

LES DALYRMPLE: Well it could be, and I think it would be wonderful if we could be involved.

CONOR DUFFY: Mr Dalrymple says that as well as the technology needed to build the station, new technologies will be needed to eventually mine the moon and help enable the first manned mission to Mars.

LES DALYRMPLE: Obviously, if people are going to exist on the moon, they need water.

We believe that it is quite possible that at the lunar poles, there are significant reservoirs of ice, water ice, which can be mined, not only for human consumption and to grow plants and all sorts of things.

But even just as importantly, rocket fuel - that is liquid rocket fuel - is obviously made from water. It's a combination of liquid hydrogen, and liquid oxygen.

CONOR DUFFY: And flowing on from that, I understand a key purpose of the station will be to launch a mission to Mars?

LES DALYRMPLE: Well, in the end, that's the idea. Of course, if we're going to go to Mars, there are a lot of technologies and a lot of strategies that are going to need to be not only tried, but they're going to have to be tested, and proven again and again and again.

And of course the most convenient place to do that is of course, the moon. It's somewhere where we can crash - if I could put it that way - where it won't hurt too badly.

We know that the moon is only three or four days away by rocket. If you send somebody to Mars, and something goes wrong, they are beyond rescue.

MARK COLVIN: The moon as the ultimate crash pad. Les Dalyrmple from Australian Sky and Telescope Magazine, ending Conor Duffy's report.

fuck...i just saw this thread now. better late than never i guess....i caight the whole 2nd set from one of the tv-loges. crisp clear sound and rockin performance. the guy who was replacing dave gilmour was good , although, in some solos you could hear that it wasnt gilmour...didnt have that certain something that gilmour infuses into his solos. i thought it was really cool that roger waters, when they played time, made the tick-tocking sound of the clock by muting his bass at the body and tapping the strings....he also made some lucky bastards dream come true..this guy was sitting in the 1st row waving his vinyl copies of the wall and dark side of the moon the whole show, and right before they played the encores, waters got right down there, got the guys albums, signed them both and returned them to him. too cool.

guy FAWKES was an english soldier who was put in charge of a conspiracy to assassinate king james the 1st and the parliament members at the time by blowing up westminster palace, in 1605. he attempted to do this by filling a cellar which ran beneath wetminster palace with gunpowder. he didnt succeed. him and the other conspirators were caught, tortured and hung for their trouble.
funny thing is, fawkes was basically just a lackey. he was put in charge because of the fact that he had military experience and was familiar with explosives...the real mastermind behind the plot was robert catesby.
so now november 5th (the day the plot was busted) is an annual celebration of what they call the gunpowder treason. in britain they let off fireworks and burn straw effigies of guy fawkes, and sometimes of other unpopular public figures....

there's no inherent difference between girls and guys, I find your views to be quite immature and prejudice in general. how can you label guys all under the same category? I am not saying your mind is closed, because I don't know you, but you should really open your mind more before it's too late and you are too old. Don't let a few bad apples ruin the experience for you, men can be real nice, and girls can be real assholes... physical attraction is one thing, but your hardware speaks for itself babe, come to terms or stop hating (flame!)

ok one, she was stating her opinion, which she is totally entitled to do. although its not impossible for someone to have an immature opinion, what she said doesnt really come off as mature or immature either way. its like calling someone immature because they dont like pecan pie. she's stating a personal preference (girls over guys), and the reason (she's gay). so then what? she's immature because she's gay or she's immature because she doesnt like guys or.......what?
thirdly, i dont know when the last time was that you got a chance to look down a girls pants, but i can think of several INHERENT differences between men and women right off the bat.

Sean Smith: Beer and pussy. That's all I need.

Ronald Fisher: We gotta find ourselves a Smurfette.

Sean Smith: Smurfette?

Ronald Fisher: Yeah, not some tight-ass Middlesex chick, right? Like this cute little blonde that will get down and dirty with the guys. Like Smurfette does.

Donnie: Smurfette doesn't fuck.

Ronald Fisher: That's bullshit. Smurfette fucks all the other Smurfs. Why do you think Papa Smurf made her? Because all the other Smurfs were getting too horny.

Sean Smith: No, no, no, not Vanity. I heard he was a homosexual.

Ronald Fisher: Okay, then, you know what? She fucks them and Vanity watches. Okay?

Sean Smith: What about Papa Smurf? I mean, he must get in on all the action.

Ronald Fisher: Yeah, what he does, he films the gang-bang, and he beats off to the tape.

Donnie: [shouts] First of all, Papa Smurf didn't create Smurfette. Gargamel did. She was sent in as Gargamel's evil spy with the intention of destroying the Smurf village. But the overwhelming goodness of the Smurf way of life transformed her. And as for the whole gang-bang scenario, it just couldn't happen. Smurfs are asexual. They don't even have... reproductive organs under those little, white pants. It's just so illogical, you know, about being a Smurf. You know, what's the point of living... if you don't have a dick?
