the right to bear arms in the US exists so that the people can revolt, if need be, against their government when that government goes bad. as well as being a right its also a responsibility. its a responsibility of the people to get off their lazy asses and do something about it. it seems that few, if any, are prepared to stand up and accept the responsibilities that their forefathers wrote out for them....

It is as if the brain switchboard was torn apart and then rewired backwards. Ecstasy damages brain cells by causing the nerve branches and nerve endings to degenerate. These cells then regrow abnormally, failing to reconnect to some brain areas or connecting elsewhere to the wrong areas. It is as if the brain switchboard was torn apart, then rewired backwards. The NIMH study indicates that recreational ecstasy users may be risking permanent brain damage that could manifest itself in depression, anxiety, memory loss and other disorders.

That NIMH study was so seariously flawed that it's practically a joke. The study had no fucking control group, and the people doing the research were so ridiculously un-qualified it's beyond funny. The results are also completely fucking ridiculous. Also this so called group of habitual ecstacy users were in no way representative of actual ecstacy users. They basically got a group of people together, and asked them if they have used mdma in the past. There were no questions asked about other drug useage at all either. There is no way to prove that there condition was in any way caused by ecstacy. and there were no measures taken to ensure that any information given to the researches was true/accurate at all.

Oh and btw, the studies that showed ecstacy can cause "holes in your brain" and irreperable nerve damage were completely dismissed. The researchers accidentaly ordered methamphetamine instead of ecstacy. They then proceeded to administer the methamphetamine at ecstacy dosages... which are somewhere around 5 times more then the average dose of methamphetamine.

It's nice to know your source.

what robert bourassa did:

-fucked up in the october crisis of 1970

-introduced bill 22: arguably more important than bill 101 which superseded it when the PQ came into power in 76, in that it killed institutional bilingualism and allowed toronto to overtake montreal as the business capitol of canada.

-worked closely with mulroney on the failed meech lake and charlottetown accords which ultimately caused a revival of the quebec sovereignty movement.

-loved to eat hotdogs.

naming a street after this fuckup is a stupid idea

its NOT irrelevant...its totally relevant....one of the reasons the gun registry was designed was to stop people like kimveer gil from doing what he did. it didnt work.

look at this damning evidence towards the gun registry:

Opposition to the registry, particularly outside of Canada's major cities, was immediate. It was argued that the registry would not make Canadians safer and that it was only a step on the way to the confiscation of all guns in Canada. Small scale confiscations of some firearms after the registry took effect and Prime Minister Paul Martin's 2006 election promise of a national ban on handguns seems to have confirmed this fear.

The gun registry has received support from the Canadian Association of Police Chiefs, a federal lobby group employing paid lobbyists. Chief Jack Ewatski, president of the CACP, and Chief Armand LaBarge, president of the Ontario Association of Police Chiefs, stated that police officers across the country search the registry about 5,000 times per day, and have used the registry to get guns out of the hands of the mentally ill. The police chiefs noted that investigators have used the registry when applying for search warrants and wiretaps. Ewatski said that "If the registry is shut down or even if the long-gun registry is shut down, they’re [front-line police officers] going to lose an important database of information and that would be very unfortunate." ) [2]

Individual police chiefs, however, have condemned the registry. Former RCMP Commissioner Norm Inkster stated in the National Post on 14 December 2004 that "the registry does little or nothing to help police link actual crimes to actual guns". Former Toronto Police Chief Julian Fantino pointed out the registry hasn't helped Toronto police solve a single homicide and "has been of precious little help". Retired Assistant Commissioner Robert Head - a life member of the CACP - called the gun registry "the greatest waste of law enforcement funds that has ever been inflicted on the Canadian taxpayer". Borden-Carlton Police Chief Jamie Fox called the registry "...a massive waste of tax dollars that could have been spent on health care and other pressing social needs." London Police Chief Brian Collins said "It's such a disaster."

Police associations have also condemned the firearms registry. Sgt. Peter Ratcliff, as president of the Edmonton Police Association, described it as "... fraught with problems. It's taken too long, it's cost too much money, it's full of errors." The president of the Alberta Federation of Police Officers, Peter Kawalilak, said "It's a bad law, I'll say that right now." The President of the Calgary Police Association said the program has had no effect on crime and "Despite the money spent, it should be scrapped." Winnipeg Police Association president Loren Schinkel said the registry has done little to curb crime.

The auditor general's report also found that there is a lack of evidence to support the effectiveness of the gun registry, or to prove that it is meeting its stated goal of improving public safety.

"The performance report focuses on activities such as issuing licences and registering firearms. The Centre does not show how these activities help minimize risks to public safety with evidence-based outcomes such as reduced deaths, injuries and threats from firearms," the report said.[3]

Recently, several gun collectors have had their collections stolen, including antique pistols and rifles. Recently, some are suggesting that the gun registry (both long gun and hand gun registries) have been hacked and are now serving as a "hit list", giving criminals a road map to all the guns in Canada. Advocates of the registry are saying that street gangs are not computer-savvy enough to hack the registry, yet they have not addressed the possibility that organized crime may be involved in these recent robberies. [4][5][6]

Update » Morphine wrote on Thu Oct 19, 2006 @ 3:57pm
furthering the gun registry is only making it harder to get guns legally. and when there are no more guns in the hands of the public, and only in the hands of the gov't, you have a police state.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Re: The 4th Level Spetember 22nd, 2006

Tonight on The 4th Level we are taking a bit of a left turn from our usual format, for a change. This will be marked by a special rare performance from
Level 4's Program Director of the Inna City Hardness Division; the author of The Poverty of Philosophy and Das Kapital; the core of the analysis and the critique of commodity fetishism: DJ Karl Marx.
He will be joined by Level 4's Chilly Willy and the HalfCut Shogun and possibly some special guests for an evening of tripped out, fucked up downtempo beats. As a tribute and shout-out to Raekwon the Chef, who hits up the Just for Laughs theatre in Montreal tomorrow night, this very special edition of our show will be heavily-laced with tracks from the Wu.

We at the 4th Level strongly advise our listeners to pre-roll a generous amount of marijuana-filled cigarettes and make sure they are thoroughly dipped in PCP prior to tuning-in. This will ensure a superior listening experience.

see ya then.
