Pretty good post, but I wonder why you feel the need to call me "bitch". Perhaps in person you would not use the same wording?

I am not taking a jab at anything. I was only asking why "the horns" and so far, NO ONE has come close to providing an explanation as to why or what it might possibly mean. It's just something people do without knowing. You don't know either. Obviously.

databoy, I oppose human suffering. That is my beef with Satanism, which is a method by which a minority oppresses the majority, enslaving the world's populations.

Well that is an interesting amount of hostility right here.

Why indeed?

Ah, because I dare to say that there are Satanists who do horrible things. That seems to be a huge taboo around these parts. Now that in itself is not without interest, since it does appear that this hostility is a group retaliation against someone who would say something against Satanism. Which begs the question, what is so great about Satanism? Or about the horn gesture? What is so great about these things that they deserve to be defended with such fervent ardor?

And you are quite right, Betty_Haze, I am mind-numbingly dumb.

As I wrote, the outer circles have much more palatable indoctrination than the inner. That is how it works and OF COURSE the inner circles will circulate the image of being quite benign to the outer rings. Gee, how would it look if the people who actually eat unborn human foetuses while still attached to the screaming mother advertised it in public? I think people would oppose. No, instead they project an image of being quite reasonable, normal people. So of course the dealings of the inner circles of Satanism are not known to outsiders. Even better, "THERE IS NO SUCH THING" is the message sent OUT from the ones within. Anyone with a few neurons can see that is the ONLY option for those engaged in such activities.

But suffice it to say that if your heart is clean, it is clean. Since when is open-mindedness such an incredible quality? Perhaps being of a Loving Nature should be considered a higher priority, no? I personally think so. None of this is religion or politics AFAIK.

I am fully aware of Satanic practices, one of which includes mass rape of young girls and feeding on the unborn foetus and such. You would want to invoke "freedom of religion" for such things? I think not. Some people are organized into groups and get off on that stuff. I diss the practice, I oppose it with all that I am. But it is reserved for the innermost circle, and the outer groups have much more "reasonable" intermediate levels of indoctrination.

Perhaps it is YOU who should look more deeply into what you think you adhere to. The palatable philosophical wrapping is of course much more attractive than the rotten core of the package of the Master of Lies. Yet it is ONE THING.

Love is the only truth.

So I look at the pictures and see so many people doing the "devil's horns" sign with their hands and that gets me to wondering... AFAIK the rave thing is about positive stuff such as friendship, love, kindness, opening up and certainly not harming anyone. Satanism is about torture, blood, slavery and pain.

What is the common ground here? I am lost.

I feel at home with what I think the rave movement represents and that takes me right into opposition to what that symbolism stands for... Mind boggles. Please enlighten.

Yeah well sorry about that, I don't really remember the names of the raves I went to in the '90s... They kept on changing all the time... Well I remember a few that had names finishing in "1" and "2" and "3" now that is easy to remember... That is why I say "that party" in the post above. It was not an afterhour... It was a "Rave"... Anyways them afterhours have the convenient feature of having a constant name. And place. Anyway, my point is that the vibe changed around that time, I noticed it as well at "this and that" RAVE and them rememberable-named afterhours... My last great rave was that psychedelic/goa thing at that place, wait I think it was a church on Beaubien... That was in ... between 1998 and 2001 I think...

I agree that the Rave and Afterhours are not the exact same but fail to see the point of dividing them, except to identify to one more than the other and give oneself the impression of being more special than them other group of people. I love tripping to electronic music among friendly people. That's enough for me.

Dude, you really shoulda... I ROFLMGDMFAO'ed myself a few times reading this thread, uber-great posts you guys, you had me dieing with laughter!!! :)

Just my quick comment... I loved my raves in the '90s... And then once I went to Aria and the vibe there was awful, like a crime scene... And then went to a party where there were some people who actually screamed at each other, aggressiveness... I knew I had to be outta there. That was what, 1999 or 2000, not sure... To me the rave scene was dead. And then of course, there was the no-funeral death of the Sona... Which had become only semi-fun anyway, people less friendly...

Zoom to 2007 I tried the MP3 and guess what, people are friendly and the vibe was OK. Had a good time. It's not dead. It's not what it use to be: people doing the airplane to each other, and all the craziness of uninhibited tripping. But overall there isn't that much "I am cooler than you" attitude and quite a bit of friendliness still going around. Resuscitated? Something like that. At least now I can do something else than REMEMBER how much fun I had... :o

Thank you for being there, you all...
