big ups @ diskho for an amazing booking, Tejada supplied the ill underwater minimal techno vibe, a great DJ with a really subtle touch, amazing tracks from beginning to end, and a refreshingly humble attitude behind the decks. also some really good visuals for the party, congrats diskho!

i thought Nellboy was amazing, an awesome find for our city, we'll definitely hear more of him in Montreal. Live set with effected vocals, tight electro beats, really sick. Ali B flawlessly mixed all the bomb tracks and got that shit hype. something about the saphir system that it shines especially strong as soon as famous UK breaks overlords get their hands on it .

Level 4's Sarcastic joins up with ghetto-tech dj/producer extraordinaire Sebastian Prelar for a 4-turntable battle Thursday June 29 @ Saphir's Mix Thursday.

..the 11th edition of the weekly's tag team concept also includes collaborative DJ sets by NCV's Dave O'Brien & Deliz and by breakbeat/hip hop outfit the Muscle Brothers.

Level 4 first used the 4-deck approach at our 2003 event School, where DJ Mana scratched with IDJ's Axionfigga & Nitrous while Level 4's exclusively 4-deck techno outfit Worker & Parasite made their debut. The concept was repeated to great success at this May's Communism event: Sean Kosa & Jordan Dare played together, Pinky 38 & Rhys Taylor collaborated and Sarcastic and Prelar performed together for the first time on four decks, blending booty, breaks and ghetto-tech with dirty south, baltimore club and techno anthems for a writhing dancefloor.

Four-on-the-floor, four-turntable action jammin' four-by-four beats on the fourth level

Sebastian Prelar

Born in Montreal, former member of The 909 Soldiers with DJ Kal who a few years ago ran one of the first Montreal based techno labels, In-Filtration Records, Sebastian has been fascinated and obsessed by electronic music since the end of the 80's / early 90's. He got more seriously involved in composing and creating in 1996. Being active on the Montreal techno scene for years, he acquired experience by giving quite a live shows downtown and around the province. He then got signed and finally released his first tracks on Disktrick and In-Filtration Records in 1999. Prelar's style is mostly groovy bangin' & jackin' techno with a Chicago flavor, armed with pounding heavy beats and raw vocals. In 2003 he joined the legendary Djax-Up-Beats team and released his first EP on the label, remixing DJ Rush a few times, and then eventually signing on the german techno label Highball Music as well. In 2005-06 Prelar continues to expand the jackin' techno sound on DJ Bam Bam's Chicago based label, Bass Heavy Music.

Sarcastic

The evil genius behind Montreal-based underground electronic music pantheon Level 4 Productions, this amorphous being has contributed to the subculture's cabalistic causes on many levels for the past decade as label manager, DJ, producer, promoter and music critic. Possessed since childhood with a needling drive to splice together discrete musical compositions, first with cassette decks, microphones, CD players or 8-tracks, it was only a matter of time before Sarcastic was introduced to his lifetime partner: the Technics 1200. His love for the chugging repetitive nature of techno, acid house and hardcore genres remains informed by an early appreciation for hip-hop, stoner rock, jazz and psychedelia of all sorts. Equally at home behind two or three decks, Sarcastic’s diversity has allowed him to perform alongside many of his musical mentors: NYC’s Frankie Bones, Detroit ghetto-tech DJ Assault, Stockholm’s Slobodan and Thomas Krome, UK breakbeat stars Freestylers and Deekline, and minimal techno/dub genius Deadbeat. Residencies at Jai bar, Saphir, Vinyl, Blue dog, Jingxi or Amnesia have seen Sarcastic spinning anything from pure tek, minimal and experimental techno to acid, breakbeats, DnB, booty, house and tek-house; recently championing the “vinyl” movement, Sarcastic is even known to work classic rock, funk, hip hop, trip hop, blues, jazz and bluegrass into his carefully programmed DJ sets.

Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia is a fear found in the Western Christian world, which originates in the belief that the Biblical verse, Revelation 13:18, indicates that the number 666 is linked to Satan or the Anti-Christ. Outside the Christian faith, the phobia has been further popularized as a leitmotif in various horror films.

Hexakosioihexekontahexaphobics avoid things related to the number 666, such as a building in which the number is prominently displayed. Rarer is trying to avoid the number as it relates to other numbers. For example, the fraction two-thirds has a repeating decimal of .666. (Note that in base 12, two-thirds is 0.8, and 0.666 is the fraction 6/11.) A severe hexakosioihexekontahexaphobic may avoid this as well as 5/3, 8/3, 11/3, etc. People with this phobia consider it bad luck to get 3 sixes in a hand of poker, even though this is usually quite a good hand.

It is important to note the fear is largely an artifact of folk Christianity. In contrast, the majority of Christian intellectuals and mainstream theologians believe the number was simply a reference to a Roman emperor who persecuted Christians. The Caesar generally deemed to fit that role is Domitian, although some prefer the better-known, but less likely Nero. Either way, these thinkers postulate that Christians used the number as a code to reference his name or that that Caesar himself may have favored that number for numerological reasons. In some numerologies, a triple six could symbolize a trinity of unfaithfulness, bitterness, and vengeance, while in others it could as easily symbolize harmony, beauty, and charm.

Prominent hexakosioihexekontahexaphobics include the late Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan. In 1989, when they moved to the former president's final home in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles, they had the address of 666 St. Cloud Road changed to 668. The late Johnny Carson was not hexakosioihexekontahexaphobic, because this had earlier been his home.

come on, there is NO argument that can POSSIBLY convince me that a FREE music event is WRONG. i play music for fun. i throw parties for fun... not for money. if i have the time and energy to go to teknival and play for free, then what the fuck, I would do it. (in fact i did do teknival a couple of years ago)... but anyways, real life is always there also so not everyone can do it all the time.. in this case come June 10th I'm gonna be GETTIN' CRUNK! and shit. but still, there is nothing wrong with free techno. it is fucking cool.
