Like most 'party drugs', they can also be used for (and half were created for) medicinal purposes ...

But, pharmaceutical companies tend to only hang on to the ones that make you lethargic, or pain-killers they can sell in abundance (literally profiting from people's pain) ... the fun drugs are quickly funneled into parties and the law books ;)

What they are allowed to do and what they DO do, are two different things ;)

Also, just checking the calendar, which is public, might not be something they need a court order for, 'specially if they bust/check out a party where they don't need to site their proof or whatever ... know what I mean? But you may be right, which would be a good thing ;)

On the other hand, those rules are being changed by Harper, like our version of the Patriot Act, so I dunno what the future holds for 'net privacy o_O ... and companies already have their dirty little fingers in all our communications ... .. .

Yes!

The FB event listing is garbage -- and now they even 'suggest' events, so you get fuckin' spam in there too, along w/ the 20 invites a day xD

I still check the [ rave.ca ] calendar, but fewer ppl post events there now ... too bad, 'cause it's so much easier to find events you'd be interested in, and can check on specific days that you're free to go out on, instead of only being aware of what ppl invite you to.

On the other hand, I did hear rumors that part of why ppl rather not post events here is that the cops are well aware of this site, and use it as a reference ... but hey, it's not like FB s all that private anyway ...

I've worked with the Metropolis tech crew a couple of times through Kinetik, but not with the victim Denis Blanchette. Metropolis has a awesome technical crew, and I'm really sad that they lost a fellow techie.

They are a good bunch of people, great to work with ... and this is all the more tragic.

Too often, an assassin with a political agenda ends up killing innocent by-standers, and when they do manage to kill their intended victim, it's one of the rare political figures who is loved and 'doing the right thing' ...

Having a death 'cause of an attempt on Paulin Marois is just a total waste of life. No matter how much of an extremist (anglo federal whatever) you are, she is not worth the bullet, the jail time, and the innocents killed and injured in the process.

I find that there is a huge difference between drama and meaningless shit-slinging.

As annoying (and dark) as it can be, drama can also be interesting, informative, and even entertaining (for others xD ) -- but pure trolling is just so fuckin' weak and useless.

Like I said before, if you wanna troll, hit up sites run by fascists, baptists, the kkk, etc.
Coming here and calling us evil things instead of attacking the real perpetrators of those horrors is just pathetic and pointless.

Thank you. I wanted to start a thread on this subject, to get something done democratically, but I'm happier that the site has taken the responsibility.

I love the anti-censorship attitude of [ rave.ca ] , alot. I also understand and appreciate that people can say / do what they want 'round here, whether they're pissing ppl off or not ...

HOWEVER! Part of what's also cool about this site, and why the above becomes more meaningful, is it's transparency, the fact that IPs are posted, etc. So, that said, this is what I've been hoping for :

Using a Proxy goes against (what I believe are) the basic principles of this site.

If your comments are so horrible that you need to be anonymous to make them, then you do not deserve to partake in the freedom we enjoy here.

Trolling is an understandable part of the 'net, but it's getting real lame and old here, and though we always manage the trolls, when one is anonymous it steps over the bounds of fair play. Can't even makes jokes between friends, or have a fun or serious discussion anymore without getting randomly insulted / interrupted in the process.

Full disclosure: I was very close to giving up on [ rave.ca ] .

So, thank you. Very much.

You feel good about yourself ?

Are you honestly proud of your asshole image ?

Would you have said even one thing you've said if you weren't anonymous ?

Obviously all styles of music are interconnected -- just like all paintings are rooted in cave drawings waaaaaay back in the day ;)

But the subtle differences are what makes a style its own, and it's those differences that a person relies on to decide if they like a certain style or not. My Dad loves the Beatles, but I really really doubt he has even an ounce of appreciation for Cannibal Corpse ...

If all music has X amount of common points, then why do people prefer one style over another? The answer to that question is also the point of why sub-genres exist.

Exmple: In hardcore, there are many subgenres (that even i think gets exaggerated) but there is a huge difference between some of it's off-shoots, ie. Gabber (160 bpm, military riddim, phat epic synths) and Speedcore (220+ bpm, straight 4/4 riddim, mostly percussive) ... play Speedcore at a Gabber party, and lose your dance-floor, and vice-versa. (well, usually :p )

So even though certain styles that are closely related have similarities, it's those small differences that define and justify it's existence. I'm not the same person as my sister, despite being from the same parents, a few similar physical features, and being born less than 2 years apart. No ever says "hangin' out with Nathan or his sister, same thing" .

:)

quite honestly, they only fear when the PQ is in power. Why? 'Cause for them the PQ represents a referendum on sovereignty, and they are genuinely afraid of what would happen next. They don't have much to fear, but the (unfortunate) image is that the French will beat them up, kick them out, take away their rights, force them to stop speaking English, etc. (ie. exaggerations on what the anglos did to the French up until the '80s) . And, as militant as separatists seem to be, they get frightened, afraid of the possible revenge scenario ... .. .

It's obviously unfounded, but people fear what they don't know, and the future direction of our province is mysterious for them when the PQ are in charge ... Of course, they would probably worry less if they realized just how incompetent the government is xD

So, we all have an idea of what an ideal rave would be, the line-up, the theme, deco, venue, name, etc.

Take a moment to pretend to organize your dream party, and post it's juiciness.

Just a Dj line-up is good enough, indulge on the rest if it pleases you ;)

I would die of a heart-attack if I could afford to put this together :::

''We Are NOT Slaves''

* Room 1 - Hardcore

Lenny Dee
The SpeedFreak
Manu Le Malin
Bryan Fury
Ybrid
Dj Producer
Satronica
Naoto Suzuki
Mutante
Laf-O
One Lab Rat
Na

* Room 2 - Breaky/D'n'B/IDM/Jungle/Dubstep

Aphex Twin
Prodigy
Kid Koala
Amon Tobin
Enduser
Current Value
Broken Note
Matt Green
Fishead
Recoil
Vilify
Construct

Stop drooling, it's your turn :p

Orange you glad the world didn't end in December?
