Not that it's anyone's business, but a smart promoter in a good bar gets a percentage from sales. Plus the more cash the bar makes, the happier they are and the longer they keep the night going - and the appreciation can extend to benefits for the night & promoter & bar (the circle of club-life) ...

Dynv doesn't drink really, so the fact that he gives his hard earned cash away so that others can, is mighty generous and highly appreciated. And as transparent as I try to be, I can say that I'm the one that he gives a 20$ to whenever he's in attendance, and he always tells me to buy drinks for myself and the DJs with it (and if I don't spend it all on booze, the rest can go to paying the DJs) .
It also shows his love and support for the music, IMO.

I understand the cynicism and the need to contradict 'round here, but anyone would admit that those are the actions of one STAND UP dude ;)

I dunno, looks to me like the rave since is UNdeieing ....

Shit's lookin' good for 2013 !

Some decent parties coming up, most styles are on equal footing these days, promoters are starting to contact eachother to avoid a little of the toe-stepping that was going on last summer, newer promoters are quickly learning to do things proper, and the bar nights that have techno stuff and 'rave music' are doing quite well ...

Maybe things are a little slow 'round here, but that's just 'cause of what most of what M-A-X said up there ^

And quite frankly, less parties means more people at each party.

I was just at a wicked Jungle party last weekend, and ain't nothin' deiein' man! ;)

indeed! but y'see, that's the impression I got from the 1st article, that the person was talking science from a sort of bizarre libertarian point of view - you could even be paranoid enough to say that they seem to have their own hidden agenda. That, and the fact that the person is just so flagrantly cynical ... I found the article more editorial than factual.

I agree totally with Chaos, and the those types of theories, and THAT is the balance - 'nature' keeps itself in check and yet is ever-changing; no entity is holding any scales, no jedi force is holding things together, no God is deciding fuck-all ... But, all matter and life affects eachother to a certain extent, and maybe 'balance' isn't the right word, but I find it weird that some scientists deny this obvious ebb & flow of life, the food-chain for example, calling any sort idea that one thing affects another a pseudo-science. In dealing with energy, we know that for any action there is an equal and opposite reaction - is that not proof of a sort of balance in and of itself?

Anyway, it's pretty obvious that the world is fucked, and in bigger ways that we can even imagine (ways that have absolutely nothing to do with us) but that doesn't mean we can't try to have a certain quality of life for ourselves and the world's creatures in the meantime - before the things that are out of our control destroy us. I like the idea of go-with-the-flow, of chaos, of uncontrollable consequences, but I'd still rather we not suffer at our own hands during the final years of life-as-we-know-it.

The ideas of: the food-chain, energy's interactions, trees giving us oxygen, the detriments of pollution on the quality of life, chemical reactions, evolution of disease, consequences of social behavior; these are things that people learned FROM science, not things contrived by environmentalists to serve a social agenda. So, why now are there certain factions of scientists asking us to throw up our arms and say "well, we can't do shit about how the world shifts and changes, so whatever we're doing to make it worse, let's just keep at it 'cause an extinct species has no affect on humanity, therefore who gives a shit" ... ? That kind of detachment goes beyond even my own well conceived cynicism - otherwise, throw out the laws against murder and all that stuff that hurts us, 'cause we're animals, let's be more Darwinian ...

I'm no fan of environmentalism, but allowing greed to dictate the quality of life on earth is frustrating and definitely not any better - and by stopping people from protecting the 'environment' you consequently let others abuse the world as they please.

If what we need is a change of terms in order to get humanity/science to agree on what is fact and in turn how something as abstract as 'society' should be played-out, so be it.

I guess I just wish that humans across the board were just more honest and could do the research together with much more objectivity in order the tell us the fucking TRUTH about all this stuff, 'cause as soon as I hear someone make a statement juiced with judgements about the 'other side' of the story, I get real skeptical.

Yes, everything we do can be seen as natural, but doesn't that also mean that stopping deforestation is natural? If mining is natural, then so is protesting the destruction it causes ...

The balance of nature, as I see it, isn't a question of whether no not things are natural, it's what nature (ie. EVERYTHING) needs to survive -- and survival is the most 'natural' thing.

There is a certain balance, like the temperature in the deep ocean currents, which is changing and will upset this balance, which could in turn kill us all, and alot of other creatures. (a few degrees can fuck up alot of shit) .

But, as nature goes, something will survive/thrive, or be born through a balance upset...

So, maybe the term people should be using is: Current-Natural-Balance.
(current as in present, not the aforementioned water currents ;) )

Any change in the way nature exists and thrives now will cause unpredictability in survival, and probably revolutionize the way we live -- environmentalists naturally exist to a certain extent 'cause I don't think anyone is ready for that drastic and dangerous shift in the way life is currently balanced.

I honestly think that denying the obvious circles of life is a dangerous fiction. I'm not talking the Lion King here, I mean the simple idea that one life feeds off another, that most life co-exists -- it's pure scientific fact, and can't be anymore obvious.

The planet is inherently unstable, but it takes a looooong time for these instabilities to have an impact on any given era ...

So, what's better, to pay at least some mind to the world around us and preserve most of its present state, the state that has given us life, or to continue to push on those existing instabilities with 'pollution', and whatever else is bad for the current state, so that we bring about major changes that much sooner (perhaps sooner that we can be prepared for) ??

as far as i can tell, Emo was a very short-lived fad in MTL, its peak lasted one summer, and as soon as the 17 year olds turned 18, I believe they became Hipsters xD

Everything about that scene was terrible, and I'm glad it didn't last. The music was like some 'emotional' cheesy version of New-Metal, and then they went back to heavy with Screamo, which is just retarded.

I like to think that all the 'net memes and stuff making fun of emo shit helped kill that bullshit.

On a side note, songs or people that are emotional are not Emo, 'cause that stuff is real but Emo was just a superficial clusterfuck to make a buck off a generation for a year ...

And so yes, now when you call someone emo, its an insult ;)
