"not to be confused with 2C-D. Popular amongst psytrancers" ???

2-CB once was a medicinal drug if I'm correct. 40 years ago.

There, Dee. That's what I was talking about actually. It was never a widely-used drug but it was indeed created with a medicinal intent. You can see in the timeline that 21 years passed between synthetisation and the moment it was declared illegal ''for real'' in the US.

You know what? I can't find a source about the medical experiments... Weird, because I'm sure of it. I'll try to find out where I got that from :)

Nice article though! It's good to see an article that put forward the positive effects of hallucinogens and that correctly points out why 2-CB is safer to use than LSD when it comes to badtrips but clearly describes how it can be positive.

If it was me writing the article, I would've avoided the references to totem animals and stuff like that ;) That's very ''psytrance'' and actually (from my experience, nothing else) psycheledic drug use have very little to do with that culture. Sometimes I even feel like psytrance is stealing the heritage of people like Shulgin and Leary. But that critic is actually an opinion only.

But it's an interesting read for people interested in understanding psychedelics, I think. Good vulgarization and good advice, too!

It wasn't for medicine. Shulgin was testing variations on phenethlamines out of curiosity for psychedelic substances and for spiritual reasons.

Its all in his book Pihkal

Wasn't there an experiment or project that used 2-CB in psychiatry to calm down and connect people with their emotions and the people surrounding them?

I have all that info in my head, yet I'm looking around and don't even find a trace of it on the Internet. Wonder where I took that from. You're not aware of what I'm talking about?

They mention it in the article above, but no source of course.

What do you base this opinion on? I find that outrageous you must have very little "experience" with this culture obviously.

Well, it's kind of the same thing I'm looking for, but in the 70's. Ibogaine is used now in the same way and I guess with the same effect. But I'm talking about psychiatric use of 2-CB as far as 40 years ago, before it was a party drug, when Kraftwerk was basically the only electronic band around and LSD was a new thing, too.

And it was a successful experiment.

You're probably thinking of mdma witch was used by psychiatrists in the treatment of PTSD.
Or it could have been ghd that was used as an antidepressant / treatment for narcolepsy.

Or Ibogain in the treatment of addictions.

2cb was invented in 1974. Wasn't around 40 years ago

p.s.
"1977: A friend of Shulgin's, psychologist Leo Zeff, begins to prepare for retirement from his practice. While starting to clean out his office of memorabilia, he invites Shulgin over to see if the chemist would like any of the items. Shulgin, in turn, brings him a gift: A small vial of MDMA, and a suggestion that he might find the material worthwhile. Leo, who was experienced with psychoactive drugs and had used them in his practice for some patients, accepted the gift without committing to whether or not he might try it."

"Several days later, Shulgin receives a phone call from Leo. He has tried the MDMA. He no longer wants to retire. Instead, he begins to utilize the new drug, first in his own practice, then introducing other therapists to it. The ability of MDMA to help patients overcome emotional barriers was so striking that one psychiatrist dubbed it "penicillin for the soul." When Dr. Zeff passed away years later, his widow estimated that the network of therapists using MDMA had grown to about 4,000."

Pretty sure it's not Ibogain I'm talking about. I'll check the other substances and try to find out. I'll post it here if I find it just in case I'm not the only one interested. Thanks for the feedback.

I think what I'm talking about might just be those ''psychoactive drugs and had used them in his practice'' thing. Thank you for taking the time.

Like most 'party drugs', they can also be used for (and half were created for) medicinal purposes ...

But, pharmaceutical companies tend to only hang on to the ones that make you lethargic, or pain-killers they can sell in abundance (literally profiting from people's pain) ... the fun drugs are quickly funneled into parties and the law books ;)

Well its another declination but I found it less interesting (gave me a stomach ache and a lot of hallucinations but not that much psychedelia). Same goes for the other declinations like 2ct-7 or I dunno what they sell im clubs now.

More or less related story: Once I me and my girlfriend at the time were short of MDMA and decided to buy one at Daome and it was cheap psychedelics we got, big time. We hallucinated and felt super restless and unconfortable as there was not MDMA involved anywhere near the 'E' that we bought there.
