I don't know about all the 'shlagian nonsense, but the Caserne for only 3.25 million$ ? Sure, I can find that lying around my apartment .. xD

As pretty and legit as it is, they started over-charging for that venue.

If they had gotten some paper-work in order to make renting it out to 'us' more official, and dropped the price a bit, I'm sure they could rent it out more often and make enough money to keep up whatever it is they do with that place ...

Oh well, the fear of Raves has once again caused the bankruptcy of another fine building in MTL, much like the churches ;)

Honestly, I don't think ppl really care about the environment as much as they, probably subconsciously, care about their own comfort and survival.

Do we care about holes in the Ozone 'cause it'll hurt the little trees and bunnies? No, we care 'cause it'll hurt US, humans.

Individual consumption isn't even the major issue, imo, the problem is OVER POPULATION. There are just too many humans consuming and abusing our resources. We need fuel to keep our machines running, and once the gas runs out (and it will) we'll turn to other energy sources, though we already have available options, and companies will be sure to bank on those as well.

The planet will survive us, guaranteed, but how well will we live on it?

The argument now is whether or not global environmental problems are caused by us, or just a normal planetary cycle. So, why not compromise and say it's a bit of both? We're gonna have to start considering the survival of our species, and not who's fault it is that the world around us as we've always known it is collapsing. The weather is getting worse, and we're gonna be up shit's creek without a paddle if we sit and point fingers instead of finding solutions.

Hugging a tree ain't gonna do squat. But you can't say that all is well, these climate shifts are normal so let 'em do their thing, just 'cause you're anti-hippy.

Global-warming is not a myth, though the cause of it and the result, is up for grabs.

I also think environmentalists go too far, and the real science is being done by nerds in labs and no one is the wiser... But there is an obvious problem, unless you're blind as fuck and can't see the weather differences that are becoming more and more unstable.

If you think pollution is acceptable, figure out why we have smog in Montreal, why there is a nasty cloud of toxic shit in the air above most of the major cities, causing health issues and discomfort.

I'm not siding with Environmentalists, but you can't honestly say ''everything's fine, keep up the good work'' ...

Well, that's their bullshit fear, their weak (and typical) argument for not 'negotiating with terrorists' and all that nonsense ... but it ain't reality.

First, alot of groups already do that, and very rarely with any positive results. (ie. giving in or not giving in doesn't seem to change the fact that ppl will use their rights, like freedom of speech, to stand up for what they believe in)

Second, the fact that people have to take to the streets to get their point across is both a clear sign of democracy in action, and yet also very sad that it becomes necessary (a sign that our current democracy is dysfunctional).

Third, all this (and future protests) could be prevented if the govn't wasn't being such a big asshole in the first place, heh.

I agree w/ that poster, all the info is right there in your face -- and other countries have realized this and have had positive results after completely changing their drug policies.

And, since the poster was already clear about everything pot related, I would add that much more ppl are already high as fuck on legal pharmaceutical drugs, so wtf?

When, or maybe IF, anyone siding with the war on drugs were to read that poster, how do you think they would react? Probably just call shenanigans and preach morality ... heh. twats.

The last rave I threw a rave someone brought in a dog, and I don't think my headliner was impressed to be mixing with a dog underfoot on stage xD

That said, I'm not a big fan of having animals in (indoor) parties, since you never know how loud music and large crowds might affect certain creatures -- I mean, it already fucks humans up pretty bad :p

heh .. yup. I'm pretty much done organizing all-night events by myself -- and honestly, has nothing to do with money, motivation, music, DJs, deco, sound, etc., it has everything to do with venues. Either there are neighbors, or it's too expensive for what it's worth, or too bustable, or too far, or too nasty, or too dangerous, or too over-used; and all that makes it way too much work & trouble to find a decent place ... But, I therefore remain impressed whenever I see a promoter find/use a cool place! And since I'm not one to steal venue ideas, well, bars it is! xD

And a giant THANK YOU to all the awesome people and friends who came out and danced hard!
The music, the vibe, the turn-out, the DJs, the venue ... all of it was wicked!

I can testify that Hardcore ain't dead! Which also means that I will be doing another OCDj -- stay tuned ...

Specific thnx to Dans Tes Oreilles for partnering up with me on this, The HardTimes crew, Dj Mutante, Vero at the door, and Jenn for taking more pics (which can be seen by those on facebook, simply check the OCDj group for the link).

I went to bed with a big smile on my face, and the crowd's enthusiasm has given me much to consider ... I had a great time, and I hope everyone there did too!

Know that all the support has not gone unnoticed -- I just make the event, but all of you people make it excellent and worthwhile :)

Catch you on the flip-side ...

I tried, for just about every party I threw for the last 8 years, to call up the churches and see if they'd be willing ... (Altogether I must've called and/or researched a good 30 holy houses)

I basically got a bunch of excuses, or was (rarely) told that I could if it ended at 3am. I know Melo & co. did a party in a church a couple of years back, but it was in a residential area, so the cops were around 'cause of noise complaints (mostly from the pl outside though).

It really is a shame. Churches were the perfect venue, and even though I'm vehemently against religion, they did benefit from the money they got - and that helps the parishioners too (ie. the community).

But of course, the City is a big asshole and put a stop to all that ... 'cause, even though no harm no foul, they just don't want us around.

I really don't think the priests really cared about what we did in their churches -- 'cause to most religions the only thing more important than faith is cash ;)

BUT, all that said, send a smooth talking mofo to a church being threatened to shut-down due to monetary issues, and someone just might have a shot a re-opening churches as an option ... .. .

Anyway, people are sheep, so as soon as one person acts violently, anyone with a penchant for destruction will jump at the opportunity to do the same ... so what we get every year is a protest will a majority of good intentions get fucked up and escalate in anarchy by those who yearn for more than just posters, slogans, and an FB petition page ... heh. The real problem is that the targets aren't always the right ones, and the extremely negative impression it all makes on the people (the general population/normal civilians) who those ''in-the-know'' are supposed to be convincing/informing of the atrocities/murders/corruption/brutality committed by the police force, here in MTL and around the world.

Haven't been since the year I got arrested, and ironically a little brutalized ... was acquited years later, mostly 'cause it took years to develop the case (also, the police had no case - heh)

I'm still happy people are protesting, but you won't see me there, 'cause being surrounded and arrested w/ hundreds of other people just 'cause 3 twits threw something at someone/something, not my idea of a good fuckin' day.

However, this year the protest is more pertinent than usual, since the police shot several people this year, all of whom were armed with a knife, or less. It really takes a dozen cops with a dozen guns to take down one dude with a crappy knife? Really? Aren't these people supposed to be trained to deal with that kind of situation? Apparently not, so it's shoot first, and ask questions and disarm later.

Anyway, real glad COBP is around, but I ain't participating in another play-victim-and-change-nothing protest.
