COSMIC ORGASM (Psykonexus, Montreal) - LIVE! Cosmic orgasm is a duo project from Orbit and 1.61805.They have started two years ago, sharing ideas and technique. By uniting computer and hardware generated music, they focused on doing an incredible and one-of-a-kind live act. From dark full on to pure psy-trance, their music is like rolling thunder on a vast and endless space feild.

1.61805:Once upon a time I used to be an hardcore/drill and base producer. I was seeking something that would stimualte my brain,that would make me go crazy... I have seeked this for a couple years until a friend of mine took me to a psy-trance party in some shady club... Then,bang!the epiphany. I found out that mysterious energy I was seeking all along.I discovered a music that really energized me. But further more,Its a subculture that I have found. Friends who shared my ideas,artists,equals. So this push me toward psy-trance producing.I started two years ago...I improved alot.ANd there is still place for further improvement(It never stops) But after asking many trancer their opinion I have come to declare myself as a prod. I have joind with a freind "Orbite"and we created a project called Orgasme Cosmic.We found that name looking at nebulas pics.. anyway...we're on the go. Watch for us ;)

MAYSR

Born and raised in N.D.G., an area rich in culture in the heart of Montreal, Canada, Maysr bought his first set of Technics 1200s and a mixer in 1994. At the time, his passion for both hip hop and dancehall culture was in full bloom so his musical selection was only natural.

Fast forward to the present, Maysr has made his mark in Montreal as a top notch selector specializing in all forms of Jamaican music but can still throw down a dirty hip hop set if need be and can easily adapt to a crowd in order to keep the dance floor packed. As far as reggae is concerned Maysr is known as a juggling selector but he has a heavy arsenal of dubplates that would make some clash selectors jaws drop.

N.A.S.T.Y CREW, formed by Marcus Nasty, was a very important GRIME collective harbouring some of the scene’s strongest MC’s including: Jammer, D Double E, Kano, Footsie, & Ghetto, before they became stars. Legends on pirate radio during the early 2000s, N.A.S.T.Y. shaped GRIME that developed into DUBSTEP and then UK FUNKY. In 2010 Marcus Nasty, MAK 10 and management started NASTY FM to showcase new UK and international talent.

Original N.A.S.T.Y. CREW members HYPER MC, LIL NASTY & DJ MAK 10 will be touching down on Beatfreakz (straight from the plane) showcasing a set to promote there NASTY HALLOWEEN party the following night.

RCOLA

RCola, Canadian Producer and DJ. Co-founded the Chopstick Dubplate label with Liondub and Jacky Murda in 2002. In 2004, he started the JungleXpeditions music group and kicked out his first solo-release on is Royal Crown record label.

RCola has been named as one of the top ten ragga-jungle artists in the world by KMag, no doubt fueled by his music and collaborative efforts in keeping ragga-jungle music up front and center.

His album "Rub A Dub Wize" traces his inspiration from reggae and dub music to the irresistible up-tempo pace of the contemporary genre of drum ‘n bass that continues to inform his patented uplifting ragga-jungle production style.

RCola has undoubtedly created an empire of his own from the ground up; running one of the only Music Distributions specializing in Ragga-Jungle, playing 250+ shows in 20 countries, and releasing 25 tunes on Vinyl, and more digitally via his online shop @ [ www.junglex.ca. ]

Always on the lookout for new artists to promote and new music to play, RCola keeps the jungle fires burning with his positive vibes and uplifting tunes.

KURSE
(Montreal - Drum N bass)

Bio : Electronic music enthusiast from an early age, DJ Kurse started mixing in the mid-2000’s.
At first he was interested in more diverse styles and he soon became known by mixing in many rave parties.
Soon later, he discovered an intense passion for drum & bass and began performing in several clubs in Montreal and on the Urban Beatster radio (RIP).
He was recently invited to *Wicked!*, a DnB radio show in Paris hosted by Niveau Zero.
He is most known for playing tech-step and neurofunk Drum & Bass and he is recognized for his excellent technique on the turntables.
He is always ready to get the party up and going on a steady 180 BPM!

64hz est un collectif issu de l’union de vétérans de la scène électronique montréalaise et puisant son bagage musical d’un amalgame très varié d’influences passées : du rap, à l'acid house, en passant par l’industriel et le dub. Il est donc évident que les planchers de danse mis entre les mains de ce regroupement sont emportés par un éclectisme parfaitement dosé de sonorités techno, garage, breakbeat, techouse, dubtech... Bref, 64hz a comme mission d’amener l’avant-garde dancefloor et ce, dans un contexte des plus festif et convivial.

Le collectif s'est démarqué depuis sa fondation en 2007 en organisant (en collaboration avec 0db) la venue d'artistes de renom tels Extrawelt, Maetrik et Kalden Bess (aka m0h). 64hz détient également une résidence mensuelle au Blizzarts, chaque troisième jeudi du mois, pour les amateurs de musique d'avant-garde.

Le collectif comprend 7 artistes : Dorobo, Bushido, Jean-S, Monokini San, Florian MSK, Sipherdee et Bonus Beats.

Pour l'émission Beat Freakz, 64hz a confié à Sipherdee et Monokini San le mandat de représenter le collectif.

MONOKINI SAN

L'important, pour moi, c'est d'être entourée de bonne musique et de personnes stimulées, passionnées. Au fil des années, je me suis trouvé à fonder avec mes amis un collectif dédié à la musique électronique qui se nomme 64Hz. Ensemble, nous organisons des soirées mettant la musique électronique, le design et la danse en avant-plan.

Je suis très émue à l'idée que plusieurs groupes comme le nôtre essaiment partout sur la planète.

Je pourrais en nommer beaucoup, mais certains resteront toujours de bonnes influences en termes de techno deep et répétitif, comme par exemple Blueprint records et Rasophal sÀSchallware. Ils me rappellent ce que j'aimais tant de la musique techno progressive de l'époque des premiers EPs sortis sur Iboga ou Digital Structures. Je vous invite à écouter ce qu'ils produisent!

Pour ce qui est de moi-même, je dois avouer que je n'avais jamais pensé devenir DJ, même si je le souhaitais secrètement. Mais je crois que c'est ma voie et je compte sortir de mon chapeau quelque chose de nouveau et faire évoluer ce son dont je suis si fière pour les années à venir. Mon nom est Monokini San.


SIPHERDEE

Sipherdee est un projet d'exploration musicale à la source des Sessions Syndromatiques ayant débutées à Québec en 2002. S'ouvrant à tous les styles musicaux, Eric Beaurivage a récemment accepté le poste de directeur artistique pour la nouvelle maison de disques In Trouble With Mom (ITWM Records). Mis à part les soirées éclectiques qu'il organise sous le nom de Syndroma, il représente fièrement les sonorités Techno à titre de membre du collectif 64hz. Constamment à la recherche de nouvelles rythmiques et de pièces à forte teneur en basses fréquences, le Future Garage est sans contredit le style qui l'influence le plus.

64hz is a music collective formed by battle-hardened veterans from Montreal's electronic music scene. The collective's style has roots going deep down into rap, acid house, dub, industrial and techno. The mission of 64hz is simple : take over the floor with an eclectic mixture of various styles directly aimed at the dancefloor while retaining a twisted mental aspect. Making a point of staying on the cutting edge while definitively maintaining a certain convivial standard, 64hz is a crew to remember when it comes to serious festivities.

The collective, founded in 2007, became an icon of the scene by bringing (in partnership with 0db) renowned artists such as Extrawelt, Maetrik and Kalden Bess (aka m0h). 64hz also got a monthly residency at the Blizzarts, where it distillates avant-gardist sound, every third Thursday of the month.

The crew is made of 7 core members : Dorobo, Bushido, Jean-S, Monokini San, Florian MSK, Sipherdee and Bonus Beats.

For Beat Freakz, the collective will be represented by Sipherdee and Monokini San.

Monokini San

I've always wanted to be around people that like good music, whatever the style. Over the years, me and my friends started a group called 64hz. We organise electronic music events, dance, deejay and do graphic design. Other people do that too, all over the world, so i have many choices when it comes to influences.

Lately, i've been particulary inspired by labels like Resopal Schallwar, they have a similar approach. Another label that blows my mind is Blueprint records, go check what is released on there : deep, repetitive, mental stuff bringing back in me what i liked so much about the early Digital Structure and Iboga records back in the days. Now i never thought i would end up deejaying, but i think it's my path and i intend to push the limits to a higher level. The way electronic music is growing is very exciting and i am proud to be part of it. My name is Monokini San.


Sipherdee

Sipherdee is the explorative music project behind Sessions Syndromatiques, which got its beginnings in Quebec City circa 2002. Open to all musical styles, Eric Beaurivage recently accepted the post of artistic director for the new record store In Trouble With Mom (ITWM Records). A fervent defender of free and open technologies, don’t be surprised to hear him spinning cuts from a multitude of netlabels. In addition to his eclectic nights produced under the name Syndroma, he proudly represents techno (etc) in the 64hz collective, where he is always hunting fresh new bass sonorities to showcase his versatility, being currently influenced by his Future Garage tendancies.

MyzteriousWays Beat Freakz célèbreront leur 1er anniversaire par un myztérieux bal masqué ! Quelle année ce fût pour nous tous, que de chemin accompli depuis la publication de notre premier événement sur le site le 10 novembre 2010. Même chose pour l’équipe de Beat Freakz qui en a vu plus d’un passer par le loft et qui pourrait certainement vous raconter un foule d’anecdotes épiques !

MyzteriousWays and Beat Freakz will celebreate their 1st year anniversary during a myzterious Maskerade ! It was an amazing year, full of accomplishments since that night of November 11, 2010, when I posted my first article. I’m sure Beat Freakz team had seen it all at the loft throughout the year, and can surely entertain you with their own glorious stories!

A costumed ball, a musical symphony created by 11 artists/groups playing their own unique music styles on November 11, 2011, from 9:00 PM to 8:00 AM the next morning.

Miles D

What's up? My name is Miles Dozier, son of the african-american long time career musician Michael Dozier and of Roseline Michaud. Its no surprise seing from what my father does that I have been a long time music lover since the age of ten when I was introduced to the album "about time" from the punk group pennywise. As I lived my teen years I was listening to korn, nofx , nirvana, primus, Les Claypool and of course a bit of rap. As I got into my older teen years and into being an "adult" the music that grew with me was a alot of death metal bands like: Nile, Slayer, Death and exhumed. Then it began, the electronic music, starting with techno, electro and minimal. It took me about 20 years to find my true love for drum & bass. My discovery of drum & bass is all because of rapper Tech N9ne, he has a song with a drum & bass vibe and as well as my good friend Kenny Almeida got me into some drum & bass artists such as Calyx, Dom & Roland, Goldie and so many more. What I love so much about drum & bass is there is such a variety of styles present such as reaggea, jazz, funk and rap. I started playing the guitar when I was ten and continued to do so intensely until around the age of 21 and to this day I am still an avid guitar player. I have also been part of a rap group called Mouthaholics where I DJ and create songs. And finally, I wouldn't be where I am today if I wouldn't have started to DJ. At first I started DJing in electro and minimal tech and now I have moved all the way into the drum & bass & funky house and I hope u are pumped and ready for the massive tunes fury of Dj Miles D.


DJ Mr.Nokturn

Olivier Brien, mieux connu sous le pseudonyme de Mr.Nokturn, est un jeune DJ de la grande région de Montréal. Sa passion pour la musique électronique remonte aussi loin qu’à l’adolescence. Il pratique son art depuis l’âge de 13 ans. En effet, il participe à des événements à titre de DJ depuis son secondaire 3. D’ailleurs, il a fait ses débuts dans les danses organisées par la polyvalente où il a étudié. C’est réellement quand il a eu l’occasion de mixer dans ces danses étudiantes que son goût pour la musique électronique s’est raffiné. Ses preuves étant faites, il n’a cessé d’évoluer jusqu’à mixer dans les bars, les clubs et les partys privés.

Son entrée dans le monde des clubs s’est faite au Studio41, à Blainville. Depuis, les événements s’enchaînent et se succèdent sans arrêt. C’est lui qui était responsable de la musique à deux reprises dans des partys privés qui ont eu lieu au complexe sportif de Saint-Eustache à l’hiver 2010-2011. Son deuxième mix dans un club a aussi été un franc succès. C’est au Bar Terrasse des Écluses qu’il a de nouveau mis le feu au plancher de danse.

S’inspirant des géants de la musique électronique « The Bloody Beetroots », et du DJ québécois Daniel Desnoyers(AKA Dany-D), Mr.Nokturn tente de créer un style bien à lui. Il favorise un mélange « d’électronique », de « house-progressif » et de « dance ». Étant versatile, il mixe tant avec des CDs qu’avec des mp3. Suivant le vieil adage disant : « L’habit ne fait pas le moine », Mr.Nokturn tente par tous les moyens possibles de vous en mettre plein la vue(ou les oreilles).

La priorité de Mr.Nokturn, c’est que les personnes qui vont dans ses soirées aient du plaisir, et qu’elles en parlent! C’est dans cette optique qu’il s’associe avec d’autres entrepreneurs qui, comme lui, ont pour but d’organiser les meilleures soirées au Québec. Deux têtes(ou plus) valent mieux qu’une! Les contacts sont primordiaux dans ce milieu. Mr.Nokturn l’a compris. C’est la clé du succès. Ainsi, il s’allie à plusieurs genres de personnes (artistes, graffiteurs, éclairagistes, etc.). À ce jour, l’équipe de Mr.Nokturn compte au minimum cinq partenaires permanents. Maxime Caron, photographe innovateur, ainsi que Francis Lapointe Deraiche, caméraman de talent, sont en charge d’immortaliser les mémorables soirées. Hugo Laforest, habile infographe, assume brillamment la tâche de créer des publicités originales qui visent à promouvoir les événements organisés par l’équipe. L’équipe profite aussi des services de Patrice Painchaud Tavares à titre de monteur vidéo.
Notre DJ travaille en collaboration avec Puzzle Records et 4brostudio ( HYPERLINK [ www.puzzlesrecords.com ] [ www.puzzlesrecords.com ] Il s’est taillé une place dans la réputée maison de disque. En fait, il la représente à l’occasion dans certains événements, comme ce fut le cas au 1234 lorsqu’il présenta la bien connue « Vive le Québec libre ».
Le 11 mars 2011, c’est Mr.Nokturn qui était en charge de faire bouger les chanceux qui étaient au Colisée de Laval, à l’occasion du plus gros party de mi-session jamais organisé. Le « Fluo Nokturn » fut le premier événement organisé à 100% par l’équipe de Mr.Nokturn.

En plus de tout ce qui a déjà été mentionné, Mr.Nokturn a eu la chance de faire l’ouverture de plusieurs DJs de renom : DJ Shortcut, DJ Miss Shelton, DJ Lopez ,MC Mario et Vito-V.


Actuellement, en plus de travailler à divers projets, Mr.Nokturn étudie la création et le montage sonore. Il passera bientôt maître de son art.
Jusqu’à aujourd’hui, de nombreux clubs ont eu l’honneur de recevoir la visite de Mr.Nokturn.

MFR

My Favorite Robot is the trio of James Teej, Jared Simms and Voytek Korab, three Canadian DJ/producers who in a space of a few short years have become a central part of the global electronic music scene.

Simms & Korab originally formed the My Favorite Robot act in Montreal back in 2002 and the label in 2008, shortly after Jared’s move to Toronto from Montreal. At the same time, the duo hooked up with the No19 Music crew and James Teej and a new chapter in Canadian music history was born. Teej, who was already recording for Rekids and other influential imprints, soon became involved in the running of the My Favorite Robot label and a musical affinity between himself and Simms & Korab lead to the duo becoming a trio. Whilst their good friends at No.19 went on to form the massively successful Art Department, the boys at MFR worked alongside them building their own label into a global beacon for quality electronic music.

My Favorite Robot Records has received huge critical acclaim and has released music from the likes of Kenny Glasgow, Sasse, Chloe, Michael J Collins, Jonny White, Jori Hulkkonen, Phonogenic, The Model, Murphy Jax & Emerson Todd to name but a few.

2011 has seen My Favorite Robot releasing on Crosstown Rebels, remixing for Jori Hulkonnen’s Processory project on Sugarcane Recordings and laying the groundwork for a series of label driven events around the world. The boys are also hard at work recording the much anticipated follow up to their 2009 debut album ‘We Come in Pieces’.

Already established as a force to be reckoned with it seems it is now time for the Robots to take on the world…..

EUPHONIK

A music lover since his early childhood, Euphonik has been carrying a Fisher-Price turntable in his suitcase since he was 2 years old and playing records the like of "Janis Joplin's Me and Bobby McGee" non-stop ever since. The turntables and music have changed, but his passion for sound remains.

The man behind Revolutions Cap-Chat is now sharing his love for music in Salon Daomé, where he holds a weekly residency called Safari Night. But DJing is only the tip of the iceberg. Euphonik also produces music which he has released on labels such as Cotopaxi and Dutchie Music. A few more releases are on the way on his own label, which will first start releasing records this coming Fall.
