"Did our administrations set out to promote rational behavior, logic, ethics, peace, fulfilling obligations, justice, service to the people, prosperity, progress and respect for human dignity or the force of guns, Intimidation, insecurity, disregard for the people, delaying the progress and excellence of other nations, and trample on people's rights? " The Iranian President wrote.

Yes, very well written. He put the issues right up on the table. confronted him. I would hope that Bush would answer it.

you learned not to "trust anyone" seeing to how you have been let down so many times00 keep learning from mistakes and you can be forever happy.

I have high hopes for our speccies and get frustrated with what would appear to be frustrated -- hopefully we can learn to dwell as little as possible on death.. by responsibily enjoying ourselves

I think it is important to fear death. Let me clarify, ideally we ought to fear the kind of death that is brought on by our own destuctive ends. Sadly, and fun in its own miserable way, we bring death closer to our doorstops, each time we lock up our doors, metahorically speaking.

Can anyone even say that death is inevitable, perhaps, if we were in perfect health, we would transform into a certain type of being that would transcend death.

In any event, it is so important to examine our relationship to death and if we so felt inclined to take a day off of our jobs, we sould not need to get a doctor's note. you know.

I hope you realize that I did not say that the hole in the ozone layer is CAUSING global warming. I appreciate no doubt, generally, people wanting to clear up misconceptions. I don't doubt that the whole in the ozone layer is reparable as the human body can be. What do you mean when you say that we are "physically widening our atmosphere?"

I, repeat, I said that amongst other things whole in the ozone layer is perpetuated by pollution, which because of sun rays having more direct access, globe can become hotter. Yeah, sure there are other things which contrbute to this. That' why at times I try to stay away from words such as cause and instead use the word contribute for example.

The more we stray away from balance, moderation, yes, we could imagine getting more fucked necesarily?!

Yes, ice might play a very important role-- after all everything is interconnected. Glaciers melt there will be more water than there normally would be. Premature global warming comes with all sorts of detrimental problems.

I used to say when 15 years old " DEath is the best part of my life, the reward for a life of pain and suffering.

Death might be natural and we might learn to deal with it better eventually as a whole. But sometimes, depending on where a person is in their life,-- people handle things differently. Needless it seems to say we ought to try and be empathetic .

Like others have mentioned as well.. there is dying "naturally" from let's say "old age" and then there's all of the pollution and whatever else anti-health agents that snip away at life.

betty haze: I think i understand to X extent of what you mean. ;)
alien zed: I do think you somewhat jumped to conclusions. I do it too.

alien zed: you say that that being ha[ppy is a choice an individual makes and it is 100% up to that individual... I agree that every one indovidual can generally make decisions that can lead to that one individual happiness or unhappiness. But I disagree that my happiness, my complete happiness depends on entirely me and my decisions. My happiness depends on other people, other things. I will not be truly happy, 100% happy, until people's basic needs and psychological needs are fulfilled, atleast.

we don't need christmas to give gifts, of course. It seems we need another excuse to support the materialistic-driven economy. anyways, the best kinds of gifts have intrisinc value like helping someone out, encouraging someone etc. We don't need to waste paper (wrapping paper)either and sometimes not recycle it, by wrapping our gifts in it.

If I could I would take a piece of cloud out of the sky and hang it on my so-called christmas tree..

llol

hmm.. more hallucinations.. when I was 14, had smoked weed at school like usual, at lunchtime. I decided to sit down and let my friends go ahead. I was starting to not feel well. Shortly thereafter, my vision became like a television screen pixelized and slowly by slowly I was losing vision one pixel/square at a time-- until I stopped being able to see more an instant.

What I wish would of been a hallucination is two girls saw me and decided to get the principal, which led to me 2 lying in a room being questioned by school auhorities, on what I took and from who etc-- they only had my grandmother's phone number and so called her. That sucked.

but really sometimes it can make me uncomfortable .. mind you a quick look while talking can go by smooth-- but the long stares, or the repeated drifting of eyes to the chest area (and it ain't no lazy eye) can just be plain obnoxious or kind in the sense that it's like thank you now I can imagine you're someone I will not choose to get to know any further.

there have been a couple of guys in my life who had been strangers, came up to me, said they were interested in me and either did not look me in the eyes at all or very little and they just stared intensely at my boobies.

I mean geez, what were they thinking that I would be like, "oh my gosh, you like my tits, wonderful, what are you waiting for start sucking and make sure to put a bag on my head while you are at it. franchement! lol

aerial_raver- thanks for the article on telomeres. It is/was insteresting.

but on the topic of the temperature and lifespan article.. I found it slightly a little confusing to read at some point. Note: they should fuckin affix the study what the hell.. have some concept of education-- when I say they I mean those who wrote the article. Mind you maybe I just did not see it.

Anyway, temperature and lifespan.. if I understood correctly the researchers produced an artificially hot room temperature over time, which then systematically ended up lowering the mices core body temperature. Then they note that they associate this lower core body temperature led to a longer lifespan.

What comes to mind to me is global warming, which I can totally intuit (intuition, logic) is an actually warming of the planet due to let's say amongst other things, holes in the ozone layer perpetuated by pollution. k!
Well the global temperature is warming up, similar to what happened to the mice in the expirement. no?! Then if these finding were applicable to humans, then should not our core body temperatures be decreased as a result of the warming, thus presumably making us live longer.
Am I missing something because I already had no faith in modern science.. and this article seems slightly ridiculous.

I am so sceptical that decreased core body temperature as a result of exposure to heat contributed to a longer life span. If anything, it wasprobably the mere fact that there bodies and brains adjusted their selves to the temperature that contributed to a longer life span. That process would be called homeostasis and it is necessary to survival of human beings.

I wonder if y'all get what I am saying or if this seems all so wierd to y'all.

I guess I'll find out..

I liked hearing y'all talk about internal combustion and all that stuff.. anything else to add on the subject?

I do agree with what it says in the article about the necessity of not withdrawing the troops sporadically. It, I believe, would need to be done transitionally.

There is so much I do not know about the particulars about this precarious social situation... but I can be sure that violence is only ever thought to be the solution and is not really. there ought to be every overt gesture made to display that reality, not only to say it or preach it but really to show it. ouje: "Shit, most people here consider our politicians as two faced liars, why would the Afghans or Iraqis think otherwise ?"
good point, and many good points in this thread... our politicians do alot more talk about what ought to be and then in action support private interests, which by definition are in the interest of a few only, not everyone.

There will be no true democracy until people are made to be autonomous (thinking for themselves), amongst other things .. and we are far from that considering that the power is invested in leaders and specialists.. and imposed environmental constraints end up thwarting (dulling) our potential.

Plato once said that representative democracy as we have now, would neccessarily end up being a perverted democracy. I think I understand why.

Christelle: pourquoi?

I don't like christmas. I don't believe in the traditions that go aloong with it: SAnta Claus, christmas tree, and all that jazz. It appears to be pointless, even less than pointless to convince children into beleiving in something that does not exist. there's much much better ways to help a child's capacity to reason to develop.

And then wether we cut down a real tree, or get a fake one, it's so ridiculous-- fakes ones, waste of time, energy, resources, and prob. pollutes the environment to make them..
and cutting down real trees for a few moments of bliss-- argh. we need our trees living.

And like my uncle said, children can much more easily name the 8? reindeers than 8 types of trees that exist... esti que ca fait laid..

Next time, I tried same kind, later on in evening when I usually get tired and they were not as strong and felt sleepy. Person I got them from concurred with me about me feeling sleepy as if he heard that from others or from own experience.

tried blue purple ones with sparkles, extremely strong, super duper, did not test them with kit but I would and did avoid doing one whole pill at a time.

In any event, I have decided to stay away from drugs now so that is good.

Mind you the fact that a large chunk of us work inside for most of the daylight practically and get very little direct sunlight as a result of our lifestyles-- this affects our pineal gland, amongst other things?!.
