I've recently learned that there is a federal law prohibiting contact between
U.S. Citizens and extraterrestrials. The law, contained in the Code of Federal
Regulations Title 14, Section 1211, is known as the Extraterrestrial Exposure
Law of 1969. It was created by NASA during the Apollo era when our
astronautswere visiting the moon. Ostensibly written out of concerns about
possible microbial contamination from space travel, the law is vaguely worded
and includes references to “security requirements, restrictions and safeguards
that are necessary in the interest of national security.” Those who have had
contact with ETs are subject to indefinite quarantine plus fines, and
imprisonment. Is something wrong with this picture? Shouldn't we be allowed to
have contact with peaceful ETs? And if our government says it has no knowledge
of ETs, why is there a law against them?
If you are interested in finding out more about the ET law and it's
implications go to [ www.ETLaw.org ] , a new web page created by the Mount Baldy
Press. If you want Congress to create an Open Contact Law to replace the older
1969 law, then sign the e-petition and join the ETLaw newsletter on the same
page. Share the petition with your friends. Send the link to relevant websites.
By entering your email address we will keep you apprized of relevant legal and
political developments in the future. (This list will not be used for any other
purpose.) Live long and prosper! Or least let us legally interact with our space
neighbors if we do, one day, make collective contact with them.

Interesting. So theoretically, if I get obducted I have to pay a fine and I risk imprisonment? BS!

I wonder if Canada has any similar laws? Probably not...

its a preventive law
that, in no way, proves that the US has had any contact with extra terrestrial lifeforms
in 1969 there was growing concern that extra terrestrials may exist and that we may come in contact with them
therefore, they put in place a law that would safeguard the human race from coming in contact with them SHOULD they exist... in case they would transmit some diseases we don't know about yet

I wonder if any of you would have an easier time locating this law that was so-called established. When on gov. site in states, in federal code of regulations and found nothing relevant to this. Typed it in google, looked through many pages and did not find any government documents related. wanted to see if it was really a law/regulation as per us gov.

In any case, giving people monetary fines for things is nothing new. It's no way to absolutely get anyone to stop doing anything rightly in ref to aliens or anything else.
It would, however, be in any now-a-day governments interest to entertain the thought of life on other planets, especially, of places where us humans could supposedly live. After all, the "governments" are destroying the planet at an UNPRECENDENTED rate, I think, and if you could get the humans thinking that we don't neccessarily have to be responsible for the mess that is in the here and now, more power to "THEM".

I guess the "Live long and prosper!" part wasn't enough to question this source's legitimacy.
