 Coolness: 166520 | i respect pretty much anyone who assumes themselves and has the courage to act in what they believe in. not to the point of having their face on a t-shirt... but that guy, if what he wrote and did and wanted were in line, he went to the end of his madness... and in my view that deserves some kind of respect, even if most people may see his views as horrible. |

what hurting people and fragile ego ultimately need is love. not more crap to break them more. do you understand that you're really not helping, here? i understand kali within, the one that wants to kill the demons and stuff, but maybe it's not the time to call upon her yet when you see a person going through a crisis, already. jo is not empty, that i know. he's an awesome creative friend, i love working with him, he has great ideas in deco and art in general... and as i try to tell him there will always be people with stupid reactions to art, whatever you do. being critisized when you lack confidence though, is really hard on the ego. that's why i say, calm down with him. you can take leaves out of a mature plant, it will eventually be beneficial... but you don't do it to one that just started to grow. we all go/went through this...... |

It is always better to act rather than to react... Ashigaikha reaction was violent and uncalled for, instead of expressing the ideals he is trying to express through his art, he lashed out because the ego was threatened. Art is art, I don't think it needs to be defended by the artist or otherwise, there is so much crap out there that I think is but ugly, but at the same time it doesn't matter because art is an expression and it doesn't have to be beautiful. As soon as you tapped into the feeling embedded into the art you understand why it looks the way it does. Of course there are idiosyncricities in every interpretation, but that doesn't make it less valid. I love psytrance parties and I too have struggled with the ideologies put forth by the community. Without giving specific examples, I often see people talking all zen but acting gangster like (stealing, lying, betraying). I am not saying this doesn't happen in other milieu, I am just saying that I understand the frustration that one can feel from always seeing images that invite devotion while most of the attendees are stoned off their asses. There does seem to be a disconnect. It's like every time I meet a metal head, or a goth and go to their house and see that their room is full of teddy bears and mama does their laundry. There are fake people every where. And I've recently decided not to bother. We all work out our issues one by one, and in time we will know who we truly are. I believe you can only really get to know yourself from the way you acted in various situations, you never know how you are going to handle a situation up until it's too late and you've acted. In this thread, Ashigaikha learned something, as we all did. I agree with yoshin, Moloch, your not helping, although I don't believe you wanted to anyways. my two cents, but I'll accept a penny (for my thoughts). |
