Yeah, I agree that anyone crafts their own experiences.
But I for one don't go to party and get high off my tit to "enhance my perceptions". I do that by meditating, listening to human experience, and observing the world I live in. I think that "enlightening" yourself in a room full of bass, while high off your tit is akin to bungee jumping off a 6 foor wall.

Not Saying I'm right about this, but hell, a soul cleansing and one's outlook on life is best achieved thru everyday work on said soul. Not when it's completely dumbed by substances.

I understand that well, beeing high gives you the IMPRESSION of being more in touch with yourself, but I choose to acknoledge the sole reason for this is that the drugs, music, vibe tend to make us forget about the hardships in our life that launched us on a path where we have to find a meaning to all this. It's kinda like trying to solve a puzzle that's in another room. Parties are a way out. If you really need to figure the meaning of your existence, maybe you should do it proper, and in a controlled environement.

my two cents.
I'm feeling toxik right now..

^ agreed.

but, yes yes, my mind should be in the multivers-a-sphere, 3-dimensioning my shakras and focusing on the inter-soul-o-gram unlimitationalities of my experience receivables ...

while i'm accepting the simple release i get from music, and smoking a J to relax in this hard-pressed society, you can skip along in denial and pretend that you're meeting god in space at the end of rave ...

like i said, i can enjoy surrealism and still be realistic.

i get really annoyed with people who think we have to reach for some so-called higher-spiritual-mentality just to experience simple pleasures. it takes away all the ease, and turns into work.

gimme some hard tunes and a joint to chill, and you can stress yourself out trying to be zen.
I'm feeling you up right now..

Don't take any offend Mark, you know I respect you and everything but I clearly remember you telling me you weren't into psychedelics.

There's a huge distinction between the effects of psychedelics and most other drugs. They hardly let you escape your problems, to begin with. Instead, they usually amplify them to the point where you have no choice but to psychologicaly deal with them.

I don't think "enlightenment" comes from partying either. But then again, I'm not sure I believe in enlightenment. Bliss maybe...
I know that dancing personally brings me to places I hardly can touch by any other way, meditation included. But I agree with you here that a room full of bass is hardly the ideal context for any kind of spiritual experience. Wich is one more reason why I rarely enjoy them a lot and prefer outdoor parties/festivals.

Once again, I doubt psychedelic dumbs down the soul... maybe you should give em a try before making such claims? Not that they are for everyone either... as been said... to each his own.

I know when I party to forget and when I party to feel. They both happen, and I'm pretty sure I'm bright enough to understand the difference. Don't assume parties are always only a way out for everyone because it's what it is for you.
I'm feeling the farce right now..

I don't remember criticizing anyone for their "lack of spirituality" or whatever else. I don't really get what you're tryin' to do here Mark.

All I'm trying to say is that different people have different ways of experiencing things and it should be up to them to decide what's good for them.

No offence taken.

You are right, I do not enjoy Psychedelics.
When I say high off my tit, I'm talking mostly speed or something to keep me up/wobbly depending on how I feel at parties. I get high with the drugs, and I attain "bliss" like you say by dancing my little punk ass off. Not looking for enlightement there. If anything I abandon myself in a hedonistic frame of mind to escape that pursue of spiritual growth. A soul vacation if you will.

I meant to say that without beeing a psychedelic fan, I am pretty much in touch with my spiritual side. Enough so that I take it seriously to the point of not buying that "drug wisdom" thing.

Does this clarify my stance?

I know how you party, and you know I party like that sometimes too. As I said, this is what I consider escapism and there's no problem with that (unless escaping becomes a constant necessity).

I also enjoy the hedonist frame of mind and I don't really see how it goes against the idea of spiritual growth. They are complementary in my opinion.

The drug wisdom thing has been tried and proved long before the occidental man tried his hands at spirituality. Drugs are tools, and different drugs have different uses. Anyone truly experienced with psychedelics with them will tell you it's pretty serious business. Psychologically challenging serious...

Then again, your stance is your to keep if you like it that way.

everyone give their 2¢ so why not me.

I think people seek enlightenment because they don't think enough about their lives, just did a plan then got caught along the way forgetting about or loosing faith of the objectives ; they then seek signs of a path instead of working out a new plan. I find having a clear mind about my life to be extremely challenging but well worth the effort.

About having a "special moment", I simply do some cardio and after 30-60 minutes of sweating, my mind goes to nicer places ; I love cross-country skiing, cycling & hiking, I'm thinking of adding snowshoeing. I could do visualization but I don't need an alternative life.

There's a difference between seeking enlightenment and experimenting with the possibilities. I think enlightenment is bullshit. But then again, it depends on how you define it.

Yeah well...some people seem to think that there's some kind of "plateau" where you reach some kind of stable enlightenment and perfection. I think it's non-sense....it's all about constant evolution.

But yeah, I guess it's not what enlightenment really means.

Really don't wanna nitpick, but you actually know people who see enlightenment as a finite thing?

IMHO, it's more of a path towards an enlightened state, and even then, I don't see that state as a finite thing.

Kinda reminds me of a phrase I have on a button somewhere: "No one's ever old enough to know any better"
