Personally, I buy, I trade, I steal, I give back... I have been in the game for a long time now folks, spent thousands and thousands of dollars, I have no guilt about anything I have done or am currently doing, nor will I ever. The art of Dj'ing has changed face many times and will continue to do so, current popular trends might not have existed back in the day because they were not available, had they been, well... Sparing the moral high ground, honestly, if I was a painter and I found some free buckets of paint and painted something, do you think I would feel guilty about my creation? And if some one showed interest in purchasing my creation, would it have no value because the paint was free? This debate is rather short sighted and very illogical, it is subjective opinions and comes down to personal choices. You want to support artists you like? Pay to see them in show or buy their music on, or offline, period. You don't give a shit about said artist? By all means, steal their shit if you can. If you chose to rub other peoples noses in your moral standards, good luck with that. Personally, I know what I do, I know what I pay for(and what I dont), I know how I contribute to electronic music culture (locally and globally) and I know how I give back.


On the topic of Legal Creations VS Pirated Creations :

If people thieve my tracks online (which they do, heck I allow them to by posting them for free) and play them out, you think I will be angry? NO, because that means, somewhere, a dance floor is moving to a dj playing MY tunes. If enough people thieve my music, it may cause promoters to chose to book me, so in the end, I actually am making money from other people thieving my shit. Furthering this argument, if Dangermouse hadn't stolen music from both the Beatles and Jay-Z, then the grey album would have never existed(we are taking about THE most downloaded album of 2005)! Art is creation, it takes time, imagination, motivation, tools and effort. If you chose to narrow or regulate your artistic endeavors via your moral belief system, it is your choice, but it does not make you a better or more valid artist than your peers, it simply implies that you chose to do things a certain way. IF I ever happen to generate enough income through my art creation to buy licensed versions of the production software tools I am currently using to produce my tunes with, I will. BUT, until that day comes, I am more than happy to use pirated versions supplied to me by like-minded creative individuals via the interwebz.

Now, for those of you who've actually taken the time to read this reply, feel free to tare me a new asshole, kiss my asshole or give me a high five for honesty, integrity or simply my personal choices.

I gotta say, I've been reading a lot of the talkback on the forums and repsonses to articles, and my biggest issue is, it seems like another instance when I can't figure out who I'm more upset with, the direction of the team or the griping of the fans. I despise how young habs fans so easily shit all over the team they supposedly love. And I specify young because myself and most people older than me who consider themselves habs fans tend to be a lot more reserved and faithful to les habitants. It sorta sickens me to see the total lack of faith some people have for our team...

I will always be habs fan, through thick and through thin. I may not agree with all of the decisions that the management makes, but I have faith that we will come out of the basement eventually and that the tallent we've been building will be our success in the future...
