My neighbor saw him going in our apartment but she thought he was just some friend..didnt see him go out...she left. Some tall white dude with a backpack - looked old.

But yeah I will get most of the money back that I spent on my computer plus some extra so the money is no problem. Im more pissed at the situation - losing my personal stuff - and how we cant rely on the cops for SHIT. Im actually filing a report on them right now so wish me luck.

yeah I know...I was really givng the cops last night shit but I had to be careful not to be too rude...all they did was act shocked - didnt even ask if we were ok or anything..
So stupid. We have a shitty system here..they get away with everything. What if it was a break in and some dude had me at gunpoint - they dont show up? I feel like calling a montreal news tv station and telling them the story - but it will give a bad rep to the cops and make criminals even less scared to rob...

ahuntsic/st michel. I hate this area. But our apartment is super nice + we also got a good deal. Anyways we are installing new (very good) locks in all the doors today and going to try and sue the cops for their shitty job. The alarm+insurance companies agreed to back us up - they did their job but the cops did not work with them like they were supposed to.

hey well guess what I was totally wrong about my landlord (even though she still has probs) We got robbed!
Some fucker broke into our place - stole my mac and left. The alarm went off but guess what...the cops never showed up!
The alarm company called them as soon as they detected the signal - did not hear back from them assuming everything was fine...well they never ended up coming. I got home - my door was open (they broke the lock) my alarm was still going - I stopped it and noticed the mac was gone. They ONLY took the mac too which is weird..we have tons of other stuff they could have grabbed...they didnt even take the plugs and keyboard that belongs with the mac...
I dont care about the computer...I care about whats on the computer. Work, pics, music, favs, etc. So Im pretty bummed.

Noo way! Alex u will not regret getting an alarm. They are worth it - mine is top notch as well. I have no proof YET that it was her that triggered the alarm. But I kinda KNOW it is. Basically we have 2 cats (who are total sweethearts) but she says they make too much noise which is totally exagerated. She said we have to get rid of the cats - even though it says on our lease we are allowed to have pets ("cats only" specified). So I am not getting rid of my babies. No way. SHe is this old italian grandma-type and I know how they are. They think animals are meant to be butchered-not pets. They are also very intrusive to peoples privacy because they are so welcoming to everytone they think everyone is like that. I know its her who went in and triggered the alarm because 1-there were no signs of break in 2-the cats cant trigger it - it is animal proof, and 3-when u walk into my place the alarm gets ready and can only be stopped with the correct code. So she probably went in to check if we still had the cats and so on , the alarm went off and she left.

She barely speaks any english (italian mostly) and seems to be completely clueless of the quebec laws.
I am very uncomfortable and pissed off - but my bf wants to talk to her calmly and work things out. Im too pissed for that.

moondancer - if your tv station uses avid - thats great as avid is the best video software for production.
final cut pro is amazing for editing as well..it just depends what a company is comfortable with.
I worked on pcs in small companies because its cheaper - and can still do the trick - however I have taken longer to complete assignments because the pc is a billion times slower than a mac and u definately cannot run 3 different big softwares on a pc and still have it go fast.
When it comes to designing/video - yes I prefer the mac. But when it comes to everything else I prefer the pc.
End of story.
