really? but I got it when it just came out this july...
I got the newest mac - didnt wanna get something old...so its really 1.5 yrs old? thats odd considering the apple site usually keeps the latest machines on their site and deletes the old ones... A friend of mine bought the pro for 3400....ehe its worth the price but makes sense that its 1000 costing more than mine and mine is almost new... Murdock - I would keep it but need the money...:/

Yeah especially with the new intel macs, the best G5 is like 5-6 times slower than the lowest-speed macbook..

It's not that much slower, but keep in mind, the second you buy something, it's worth drops. You can't sell something that's been used for a year for more than 50% of it's original cost..

I thought the lastest Mac was the Mac Pro? The computer Max posted is the same as yours except it has 2.5 ghz instead of 2. There's a 2, 2.3,2.5, 2.7. Even the 2.7 is only supposed to come with 512mb of ram, did you upgrade? Are you sure that those are the right specs/computer name? The last Power Mac was in late 2005:

Back in 1994 I paid $3000+ for my 486 DX2 66mhz with 8megs of RAM
Any takers ? I'll start the bidding at $1000 since it has antique value now :)
I'm feeling you up right now.. |

the mac pro is selling for $2799 now.
and your G5 is $1999 new. if you bought it 3 months ago than you either made a uneducated purchase or someone pulled a fast one on you and sold you an old machine for too much.... considering that the g5 was already extint and intel was already manufacturing the chips since late 2005. it's sad but true. even the imac g5 that i'm typing this on (bought in june 2005) is obsolete since intel came into the picture. anyhow... its still a kick ass computer and i'd personally take it over any unreliable p.c. shit box anyday. anyway subflower... a good rule of thumb when buying anything electronic is to assume that the second you take it outta the box that its worth half what you paid for it. ie. if you bought it for 3g's don't expect to get more than a grand and a half for it anyway... i've been a pretty big mac geek for the past 10 years and i'd like think i'm a pretty credible reference. anyhoo... best of luck getting a decent price for it.

Well I don't like Mac's so I don't look around for them but I know that when it comes to computer parts, for PC's at least, Futureshop doesn't seem to carry any new stuff, its all stuff that's already been on sale for a few months although it's priced good if you're actually looking for those things. If you ask for the newest model of soemthing they will show you THEIR newest model. I would assume that it would be different with Mac's since people tend to knwo exactly what machine they want by name but just throwing stuff out there. They wouldn't even know what the newest model actually is. Even if I go to a real computer store I get backwards advice, you should always know exactly what you want before you purchase.

Futureshop is the wal-mart of electronics, cept they don't charge standard prices. Some things are priced normally, while others are twice the price for no apparent reason.
