That's the joke... it's so wrong that it had to go in there. The last track, Metal Slug, is on a friend's label - and it's by a couple of guys I know from Holland... I was playing around with the two records and decided that they needed to hear it... it was such a bad idea that I had to run with it.

btw - Oakey = Phil Oakey of Human League fame... that track is 20 years old now... damn.

Yeah - an all acid event would be nice. I'm playing an acid set tomorrow night... in Winnipeg, though.

No... The I-F/Beverly Hills 808303 stuff is probably about as close as I get, unfortunately. I didn't have all that much to choose from during my formative years in Winnipeg... and by the time I started hitting record stores in other cities I was mostly buying hardcore and digging up used techno records that I'd really been looking for.

I'm back in Winnipeg at the moment and spent last night going through stuff out here - pulled out a shit load of stuff that I'd nearly forgotten I had. Yum.

Thanks for listening, btw - it looks like you might be the only one.

Further to MEM Records. Hit them up today and found yet another Hyperactive record - Don't Panic. They were having some kind of boxing day sale... so I left with a box full of records. Fun stuff. I don't have shit to do tonight, so I think I'll mix it up.

I listen to a lot of pretty out there stuff... but most of what I pick up is on vinyl, so I don't grab too much of that. Although, I do take Merzbow, Masonna and such and cut them in with rhythmic stuff.

Ollie did some sick stuff on Steel City. I wish I'd still been functional enough to make it out to Flux. Between Mutek and work I was damn near dead by the end of that week... damn. Oh well... I got the chance to play a show with Huren earlier that month.

DJ Slip is one of my all-time favourite producers... the record he cut on Subvoice is incredible... that track is from a record that came out on Parotic in early 2001. It's a remastered version of an old acid track.

I thought Denham was from Kalamazoo... as far as I know he's the guy behind Black Nation [ www.black-nation.com ] I'm pretty sure he played at Sector 616, but I'm also pretty sure I missed his set 'cause there was so much going on. As for Murat... I've got a copy of The Experiment somewhere... which is a pretty crazy mix. Ah... I remember the days when people like Himadri, Murat, Huren and such were kings of the techno landscape... then, suddenly, everybody had a first and last name.

It was beautiful when it was anonymous.

As for DJs ripping off artists when they play vinyl - that's why I don't sit back and play tracks... some people think it's disrespectful to the artist's work to chop it up, but the guys who make the records seem to like it... at least that's what they tell me.

I'd only heard Devine's record on Six-Sixty-Six before I got out here... but when we went record shopping he was looking for old Mills records. It's pretty funny 'cause he'd only prepared a 40 minute set and was surprised that he was slotted for an hour - so Takeshi Muto came out and joined him for the last 20 minutes and they dropped a bunch of improv breakbeats. Sick.

you kids and your frickin' vowel removal. I thought dj Nfrm was for Infirm, which means...

Weak in body, especially from old age or disease; feeble. See Synonyms at weak.
Lacking firmness of will, character, or purpose; irresolute.
Not strong or stable; shaky: an infirm support.

Now it appears that it's for Neoform... meaning...

Weak in body, especially from old age or disease; feeble. See Synonyms at weak.
Lacking firmness of will, character, or purpose; irresolute.
Not strong or stable; shaky: an infirm support.

So confusing.

obtechno: I saw Jeff Mills and Surgeon and Claude Young play in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It was really swell.

I had a good time... nice to finally catch Nikadeemas - surprised to hear him tear it up with a history lesson. Heard a lot of great tracks that I haven't heard in years (shit... I can't even remember the last time I'd heard Church Of Ecstacy or Quoth on a large system).

Belladonnakillz was entertaining (tranced out mix of Fuckin' Hostile? What the hell?)... and I was able to slip Motorhead into the mix without getting lynched.

Good times... and my anti-social self even talked to some people... fancy that.

I saw someone mention Gruf the Druid. Damn. I'd like to see any of the guys from Peanuts & Corn come out here. I caught them a couple of years back doing a performance as a collective.. Pip, Gruf, McEnroe, Jon Smith... that was a killer show.

I missed Atmosphere when they were out here, but I remember seeing them in Minneapolis in '97 - in one of the coolest venue I've ever had the pleasure to check out... they were opening for this indie rock band called February (who were incredible).

I can't believe no one's mentioned Kool Keith... I know he can grate on people, but when he's on he does some stuff that is pure sickness.
