 Coolness: 75675 | I listen to a lot of pretty out there stuff... but most of what I pick up is on vinyl, so I don't grab too much of that. Although, I do take Merzbow, Masonna and such and cut them in with rhythmic stuff. |

| Coolness: 75675 | I've been out to a few 'industrial' nights and I've usually been sorely disappointed. A lot of what passes for industrial these days sounds like some idiot trying to pass himself off as Andrew Eldritch over top of some crap backing track that rips formulas from Darude.
None of which is a good thing. Back in the day ClockDVA did some seriously great stuff (I still slip the instrumental version of The Act into techno sets - Connection Machine, The Unseen and The Sonology of Sex are all killer)... On a more noise related front I picked up a copy of Masonna's Inner Mind Mystique 3x7" set... incredible stuff. |

I wonder when Jim Van Bebber is going to be finished with that thing - seeing as the screenplay and soundtrack were both released years ago and rough cuts of the film have been floating around for a long time. |

| Coolness: 55405 | The quality of early Download releases have yet to be matched. My vote goes to The Eyes of Stanley Pain for the pompous title of "absolute electronic album". It's all over the place, yet miraculously it works - and it's still much underrated.
Now I'll have to get those limited "From the Vault" albums... I think Charlie's Family finally came to completion last year. It's still unreleased though. By the way, Fishead, that Sidewinder album (nothing to do with Download) you recommended me (about a year ago!) is awesome - and guess what, Fusion III has it on vinyl! |

| Coolness: 75675 | That other Sidewinder release is J.K.Flesh (Justin Broadrick of Godflesh, Tech Level 2, Techno Animal) and K-Mart (Kevin Martin or God, The Bug). The released at least one other record under that name (I've got a 12" on Lo-Fi).
The released a new album last year on Ipecac as The Golden Vampires. I think a previous incarnation featured the two of them working with Alec Empire. |

| Coolness: 55405 | Rhythm noise is generally defined by oppressive, dark and very distorted broken machine beats... as the name says, it's rhythmic and noisy! (as opposed to just noisy and arhythmic, like Merzbow) Really, it's just a very specific industrial sub-genre.
Actually some of the old Aphex Twin could fall into this category. I'm thinking Ventolin, or 73-Yips (off the On EP), and of course his remixes of We Have Arrived... But if you want the "real" thing (as labeled on pretentious industrial music mailing lists), look no further than Winterkälte, Imminent Starvation, Synapscape, Converter, Sonar, Zymosiz, etc... |
