The holocaust sure taught us a lot about science and medicine, but i take it thats not what you're talking about. True it is responsible for the creation of Israel.

If you don't know how it's relevant you should definitely study the holocaust. I hope you're not trying to argue with me about what you don't even know.

death isn't sad, nor is it a tragedy. Murder and torture are sad tragedies and when a government feels the need to cause pain and fear in the name of pushing it's own agenda, that country is doomed.

to the people who say it's no more significant than rwanda, indonesia, chile etc. etc... your point is noted, and valid, to a certain extent..

however, this day is significant because it changed the world more than these other events ever could... the reason?... the world's largest political, economic, and military power was attacked right at it's weakest point... the results were devastating for the USA and had MAJOR implications for the world economy...

it also marked a change in american attitudes, and was most certainly a wake up call for them, which they haven't handled well in the past five years, but I have some faith in the fact that they'll learn from their mistakes, and hopefully mature as a nation, before their society collapses completely... i've no doubt that george W bush is the worst president in the history of the USA, but who knows, if Barack Obama gets elected (and it's possible), the US will most certainly enter a new era... let's be honest, anybody other than the current leadership is going to be a big improvement...

I guess that's why it's a big day, not for the amount of people who died, but for the nature of the attack, and what that means symbolically and historically..

for the next century people will be asking 'where were you when the twin towers collapsed?'... i think, not without reason...
I'm feeling pensive right now..

i remember this day like it was yesterday,it was a tuesday it was a really nice day, kinda warm but not too hot, breazy, and clear, like you could see the future a thousand miles away, we were outside at dawson college sketching trees for Egerzeski's art class. I was 20 years old, a child really. This was the day the world changed forever, innocence was lost, the old world died and a new world was born, fortunately somehow, someway, something was smuggled in from the old world to the new one, perhaps some day it will save us.

In the years between 1991 and 2001 the people who claimed to have 'won' the cold war, talked about the 'end of history' meaning because capitalism had triumphed over communism the grand narratives had come to an end.

The end of history?
The end of history!
The end of history indeed...

I seriously doubt that Obama will get elected. Hilary with Obama as VP, most likely.

I agree, Hilary is a better candidate simply because she will draw more votes... not only will democrats vote for her, along with anti-republicans, but more women will also vote for her... non-whites normally vote democrat anyway, so that kind of nullifies Obama's advantage - in fact, I think a lot of Americans will refuse to vote for Obama simply because he's black - a forward thinking multi-cultural society indeed... I wouldn't be at all opposed to a clinton-obama combo... would probably do a lot of good for the world...

however, I do think that Obama would make a better president... He's smart, progressive, and liberal... Hilary does have more experience though, having been through 8 years as the first lady, she would definitely have picked up a few tricks from Bill... Fuck it, as long as the democrats win, that's all I care about... Clinton or Obama would both make good presidents...

Hillary is a sell out, she got bought out by the pharma companies so she wouldn't push for universal healthcare.

Both of the parties suck, really. The democrats don't have the balls to actual push for change in the USA, and the republican party is too jesus-land crazy these days. The oldschool republicans were pretty cool though, long ago.
I'm feeling gangsta right now..
