The main purpose of wooden brick floor was to absorb oil leaks from the industrial process going on.

3810 St-Patrick was the Crane Valve Co.

They used to manufacture pipes, valves and anything related to plumbing.

Here are pictures from an old painting that used to be in the building's lobby, until around 2002.

They removed it when they started using this place for raves. It clearly shows the bricks:

[ img716.imageshack.us ]

[ img153.imageshack.us ]

[ img249.imageshack.us ]

Therefore, these bricks act as sponge for really bad chemicals that used to be processed there.

One of their secondary function was to absorb vibration and reduce noise related to manufacturing processes.

The main issue with such wooden floor is not really creosote, but rather PBC !!!

The level of PBC contamination at 3810 St-Patrick is beyond anything legal and safe. Oil was the main carrier of PBC.

PBC is highly toxic in VERY LOW concentrations. It bio-accumulates ( it builds up in concentration in your fat tissues and hardly desapears after)

Here are some pictures we took from the now demolished Jenkins Valves Factory, in Lachine. A similar factory with similar production. Damn I had fun in that place as kid, not realizing the kind of chemicals I was messing with !!!

[ img696.imageshack.us ]

[ img688.imageshack.us ]

[ img163.imageshack.us ]

[ img43.imageshack.us ]

[ img23.imageshack.us ]

The vacant lot is now one of the most PBC contaminated lot in Canada and cancer rates around the former factory are about 20 times higher than Montreal's.

I've had a funny trip on DXM when I was about 16.

I don't know about israeli syrup, but the ones here WILL make you sick.

You will get high, but your first 45 minutes will be punctuated with heavy nausea, bad stomachache, and possibly vomiting.

Well said Psilo !!

I never did K. I never heard anything good about it.
You're convincing me even more to not do it.

What about just drinking a few beers and a good joint ? And if you get tired at 5 AM instead of 9 AM, so what?
Perhaps your body wants you to get some sleep !! ;)

Be aware that these heavy experiences leave permanent chemical changes to your brain.

I'm not saying you've become a retard. Your brain will recover.
But your psychological aspect will not totally.

You will be more prone to stress, paranoia, etc.

Dont't mess with your brain, you're still young !!

Good luck and be careful !!!

I would love to see anyone play 1/16 notes finger-style bass at 145 BPM for 90 minutes.

I've played bass and classical guitar for a long time and don't know anyone who could do that.

To play a lot of today's leads in psytrance on a synth, you would need at least 10+ years of intense piano playing to be able to do anything great.

It would be cool to have a Dj mixing psytrance, and have other non-conventional instruments doing leads. like an accordion, or an harpischord.

That would be sick.

Well what's your definition of a rave venue? To me, it's a place with continuous 'raving' going on.

They have psytrance and house music playing all day long, don't sell alcohol and have your typical rave crowd.

And it's still opened !! I was there August 2010.

Go to Continuum on November 14th, it will be a huge party. the venue will be announced on this website 24h in advance.

The only rave venue I'm aware of in Montreal is a place called 'Le Chill'.

It's opened 24/7 from friday to sunday night most week-ends and the doorman sells drugs and whatever you need. They play house and trance music.

The clientele is mostly in their 30s-40s.

But it's a pretty crappy spot and not very crowded. It's close to Metro Parc.

3810 St-Patrick is not really an official venue but is where 70% of most of the major events take place here. It's basically an old empty warehouse.

As for afterhour clubs, there are a bunch, just go on google and search for 'afterhour clubs montreal'.

People will not be helpful here with such questions.

For some people, it's cool to party allnight in an abandoned warehouse but it's stupid to party allnight in a club.
Go figure their logic !!!

take care and hope you have fun!

That place is dangerous as hell, the concrete all around absorbs any noise from the train, and passenger trains are also faster and less noisy.

Combine that with music and alcohol, and you have 3 young dead people.

I never graffed there as I deemed the spot too visible from highway patrols and dangerous due to high traffic.

My first place in Hochelaga was an old loft in a factory. Basically a crackhouse. I remember coming home one morning, to find a naked girl in my appartment, who had been shooting heroin for the whole night.

I never understood how she got inside...

My 2nd place, Got into a fight with my neighbor after a few days because I told him to stop beating his girlfriend, He came to knock at my door with a machete in his left hand. Told him to fuck off and never heard of him again.

My 3rd and last place in Hochelaga ? Well after about 3-4 months, a (criminal) fire caught in the back building and the whole place was razed. Lost all my stuff !

This neighborhood sucks. Avoid it like plague. It's not really dangerous, it just sucks !

Now I live in Nova Scotia and the most crime you'll run into is someone asking you for weed...

Sounds good, not really my cup of tea but some good ideas here. I like the break at 3:40, reminds chillout music.

I think you should add some breaks before 3:40, as house music can get monotonous.
The bass riff is catchy, good stuff.
The kick is ok but I would have chosen a more 'sub' kick with more bass in it.

Again, I'm mostly pointing on things I think could be improved, so the rest is very well-done !

if i had to grade it, i'd give 7,5/10.

peace

ASIO4ALL is a "bridge" to give ASIO-style latency to a sound card that doesn't have any ASIO drivers, like your motherboard's built-in sound card or some super-cheap USB sound card.

Using ASIO4ALL on a sound card with it's own ASIO drivers is like putting the spare tires of a Volkswagen on a Formula-1 racer.

I'm not very familiar with ASIO and this is why I asked. If asking for explanations about something in a friendly (supposedly) discussion, is not reading well, then you should get a life. really.

anyhow, thanks for the explanation. My sound card doesn't have native ASIO drivers and this is why I only use ASIO4ALL. it still works very well.
