 Coolness: 66660 | figured i'd post on here since pretty much everyone on here is downtown, uhm long story short i'm planning on moving downtown this spring and wanted to know if you guys knew decent places or good websites to hunt down affordable apts ? i just want to be near a metro.. i've looked around at a few various sites and found a couple, one was between georges vanier and lucien l'alier, up the street from the pound venue actually it wassss... 600 for a 3 1/2 all inclusive cept electricity, or heating, i cant remember but yeah but my buddy looked on the map n was like ULL GET FUCKIN STABBED MAAAN so iunno, thought i'd look to you guys for opinins... i'm sick of being 1 hour away from the world

I mean, even in centre-sud the worst looking/smelling neighborhood on the island, all you risk is the odd cackhead asking for a smoke. There's crazies everywhere, but if you aren't looking for trouble, chances are you'll be fine anywhere on the island. |

saw 2 people who got stabbed near my place, I laugh it off cuz both time it wasn't a random attack. 1. self made, the guy must have been HIGH as shit, ask masa he was there with me. 2. Guy argue with girl, guy pull off a knife, struggle with girl, girl get the knife then stabbed the guy. In the dep I always go, was there after the fact, loads of blood in the dep. poor clerk though he was shook up. |

There are alot of heavies in this town, but they usually keep to themselves. If you want to get stabbed, walk up and down St. Laurent at 3am on a Friday or Saturday, and bump into those coked-out-drunken-jock-douche assholes, 'cause they have an overflow of testosterone and 'shit to prove', or wear an assload of bling and walk around the 'Shlag or mtl-north or even the 'hood you're talking about .. If you're female, don't walk around Hochalaga at night, 'cause you'll be followed and called a whore. 'Cause well, those socio-path dicks have nothing to do, and haven't caught up on women's rights yet. But other than 'looking-for-it', most ppl don't have any problems. (though i have been jumped, and threatened with fire-arms for no real reason, i'm still alive, without any holes, thnx) Hey, it's a thug life. |

Lucien allier is actually a pretty rich hood but there are tons of crackeez around the metro shooting heroin into there dismembered stumps an so forth... George vanier has some projects nearby but it's nowhere near as bad as it was 10 years ago. I've seen some shit go down in that hood, but your probably not going to find trouble unless you go looking for it. Honestly the biggest drawback about these neighborhoods is the lack of grocery stores and decent restaurants. |

Hochelaga, as much as ppl say its now "up+coming"...the weirdos will never cease to exist in that area. The news did a survey the other day with the most dangerous places to live in Montreal. St-Henri came in first followed by HoMa. I feel safe enough to walk around at night, but definitely keep my guard up. Pepper Spray FTW. |
