cops are allowed to use force for security ONLY IN SITUATION OF DANGER AND IMMEDIATE LIFE THREAT:

- stop a fight ,
- gun down an armed trigger happy person.

and clearly these rent a cops steped beyond their line of action sice

beside COPS , NO ONE IN SOCIETY HAS THE RIGHT TO RESORT TO VIOLENT PHYSICAL TEMPERING ON OTHER PEOPLE.

REN-A-COPS , having worked myself for sec. arent allowed to use force on people other than suggestive behaviours , AND IF THE SITUATION ESCAPE THEIR CONTROL THEY ARE STRESSED TO USE THE PHONE TO CALL *****THE REAL POLICE*****

so , unless you where mingled in an armed robbery where the robber started to rape the victim in front of you shooting at passerbies , then THERE IS NO JUSTIFICATION FOR FORCE

certainly bashing an addict wont do shit, esp if hes a passive on : hes already a victim of his addiction , adding mindless free violence is like bashing on a newborn baby. and i personnaly dont think the drug providers themselves ought to get a beat up since pharmaceuticals yall have in your home pharmacy all originated for plants that nowadays are regulated by fucking fashistic small balled fucks that shoudlnt even be part of society by design.

If a security guard confiscates any type of illegal narcotic, he will be in possession of an illegal narcotic. His secutity guard uniform doesnt give him the the right to be in possetion or handle anything illegal.
Doesnt give him the right to hand cuff anyone, even less to a pole in a dark room and then beat them.

If the story is correct, the security guards responsible could be in for some serious criminal charges.

Where do they think they are? Guantanamo?

Wow, you sure know the law!

FYI, the security guard CAN confiscate it and he CAN handcuff you if he has the training and the permit for it, same with dogs, guns, tactical batons and the list goes on.

Now I'm scrawny dude, but I did work security (in office buildings where nothing ever happens other than the occasional heart attack). Like I said before he has the right to hold it while waiting for the cops to be used as evidence, he also has the right to cuff and "citizen's arrest" anyone who is going against the law while under his 'protection' if he has the right credentials.

Citizen's arrest can be done by anyone and you can hold someone until the proper authorities come to deal with said person.

As for the security guys, they stepped WAY over the line, they are there to protect you. They are allowed to restrain someone in this type of situation though, where they can't just toss someone overboard, they hold until they reach port and they get him off the boat.

The violence is what isn't right, especially when you think that people like Joey's friend are the ones who provide the income for such events, income from which the security is paid... Ya know, to 'protect' clients.

Anyways...

Well i looked pretty hard to find anything in the law that would accord special rights to security guards and didn't come up with much except for this: [ www2.publicationsduquebec.gouv.qc.ca ] and this: [ www.apasqc.com ]

Since you where a security guard, maybe you can direct me towards the derogation that would permit security guards to be in possession of illegal narcotics and use handcuffs.
I'm feeling open minded right now..

Depending on the contract, some agents are allowed to carry handcuffs, those agents must have proper training and a permit. Same goes for firearms, for example when carrying valuable goods in an armored truck. MOST agents dont have the credentials or the right, in this case you are probably right, but they may be covered by "la loi maritime" (dunno if it's maritime law in english so i used french)

I am pretty sure they have em @ hopital st-luc too. (cuffs)

And your logic for the narcotics is just bad. I am pretty sure the police will be more than happy that you security confiscated narcotics waiting for the authorities to arrive. It's evidence, the guard is not carrying with intention to sell or consume, he's doing the right thing.

If you find crack, syringes, heroin or w/e in any quantity in the street, if you hand it over to the cops i don't think they will charge you with possession, you're cleaning up the fucking street.

I mean sure if you show up looking like a crackhead they might...

Edit: Just checked with an old co-worker who's worked @ downtown hospitals, they have cuffs, you MUST take training from a certified trainer and ONLY police officers, military personnel and security agents who already have their permits and have signed forms from recognized companies can take it.

rent a cops , arent allowed to strip search , let alone empty a bag of anyone without a warrent , witch is impossible for them to get, they have to report to higher autority witch is the police. meanwhile they arent allowed to do nothing to you but use suggestion.

SUGGESTION strix , force in rent a cops are from their personnal stand and they will lose their jobs once somebody file a complaint. see how it works, its the innermedium of bullshit. where all the testosterone fed loosers wanna be "somebody". so they step beyond their line of conduct over immaginative and self satisfying autority image they can.

handcoffing only is allowed in banks, and even there . thats for self security of the guard, anything else is again , force abuse

Strip search, no. Open your bag... yes. If you don't let us look in your bag, you can't come in... thus you forfeit your rights to the security guard.

Cuffs are NOT banks only, the guys from value transport have em, the guys in high risk zones have em (i.e.: downtown hospitals, ya know like st-luc right where the crackheads go). And for all they care they ca use tie-wraps to restrain a culprit and they have every right to do it if said individual is violent and compromises his security or that of others.

Suggestion is the rent-a-cop tool, but some have more at their disposition.

openning your bag is a SUGGESTION , NOT AN OBLIGATION THAT PREVENTS YOU TO TAKE YOUR SHIT AND GO.
man you where like train half a day or something ??

a am amazed at how you think this is legit, im not arguing on something that was out of line legally over somebody that thinks its a done court case.

not legit. you still have the right to walk away. if not its called unconstitutionnal sequestration.

have they read him his rights ? i doupt . take their stand if you want your raise at garda i dont give this is totally illegal on their behalf

you remind me of ppl defending show security guards about how they can punch or toss people in the crowd. you have your arguments probably about how this is legit , but in real life with real laws its a complete desecration of basic human rights.

wow , so i herd you liek torontonamo

LoL!

Far from it, I'm just saying that if you want to see your show or w/e the fuck you are there to do, you will open your bag and let the guard have a quick peek or you can GTFO. The second you allow the guard to do it, then you have waved your right and allowed him willfully to do so.

For the record I am not defending this sort of behavior (aggressive rent-a-cops) , I am just saying that in some cases it isn't illegal. The cuffing is also legal if you are trained to use them and it is to prevent a violent individual from harming himself and/or others in a venue you are paid to protect. Which is probably what those assholes will say for there is no way for them to kick him off the boat until they reach shore.

On that note, let me just say that being a security agent sucks ass. You have a union that doesnt do shit, the worst hours ever, you're forced to stay when whoever is supposed to relieve you doesnt show up, your rights will be baffled until you challenge decisions and best of all you are treated like a piece of shit by almost everyone except when they are having a fucking heart attack, then they fucking love you cuz you're there with your first aid kit and defibrilator ready with the ambulance already on the way.

I used to despise security agents, let me tell you there's a whole lot of good, smart people in that field of work, most of those are students and immigrants who just got here. Be nice to the ones who aren't assholes, they might just turn out to be your dentist in a few years.

Anyways... Joey I hope your friend wins his case, this is abuse.
