Yeah well sorry about that, I don't really remember the names of the raves I went to in the '90s... They kept on changing all the time... Well I remember a few that had names finishing in "1" and "2" and "3" now that is easy to remember... That is why I say "that party" in the post above. It was not an afterhour... It was a "Rave"... Anyways them afterhours have the convenient feature of having a constant name. And place. Anyway, my point is that the vibe changed around that time, I noticed it as well at "this and that" RAVE and them rememberable-named afterhours... My last great rave was that psychedelic/goa thing at that place, wait I think it was a church on Beaubien... That was in ... between 1998 and 2001 I think...

I agree that the Rave and Afterhours are not the exact same but fail to see the point of dividing them, except to identify to one more than the other and give oneself the impression of being more special than them other group of people. I love tripping to electronic music among friendly people. That's enough for me.
I'm feeling anticipative right now..

closet thing we have to a rave in montreal in my opinion. I think people think a rave is techno music and drugs when it really isnt(or is it?) i think they're just really parties.
Cyber loft for example is that a rave? of course not its a party in a big apartment with music as the main thang.
the only REAL raves(again in my opinion, and im so goddamn opinionated) are those commercail ones like balle en blanc and all that jazz

i think there's a difference between a rave and an electronic music event. well anyway in my opinion..

raves are when people were blocking the streets of manchester or where else with huge fences and dancing for hours and hours.. making it free and often as a politic statement..la reapropriation de l'espace public par le peuple.. few are still doing that... like some event of the ntk krew... i went to some in the 90 in mtl too like at the lab and i still consider that as a very unique experience..

electronic music event is when people are PAYING to enjoy music and dancing all night.

so in a sens yeah raves are almost death and that a long time ago.. but electronic music event scene is going pretty good in europe and alots of place in america..

i really wonder wtf is going on sometimes in the head of some people here?! i suppose people have different idea than mine about what is a fucking rave.. 0_o
I'm feeling hitched right now..

yikes! djwood was 2 years old when i went to my first warehouse party.
I'm sorry kid, but you're just drinking all the cum we left in rave's tight little cunt over a decade ago.

Whether or not it is dead, depends on one's pespective. If we are talking about an individual who discovered electronic music and all night partying and substance abuse, sure it is very well alive. It's just change style, human has been doing for ages: dancing, drinking, dying.

But if we are talking about the cultural rave movement that happened in North East Coast... then that thing die or evolved into mainstream in the mid '90's. Nothing like tuning in to MIX 96 to hear Josh Wink's Higher State of Consciousness huh?
