pretty nice track, your production is pretty solid. I'd see it fit into a set nicely.

If i had to give it some criticism I'd maybe change the melody on the bell just a tad, like where it repeats the same note three times, maybe I'd expand on it a little more.

Also maybe I'd give the bass a bit more high end presence, or maybe a bit more presence at the liek 120-200 Hz range.

fucking m-audio there new slogan should be: M-audio, better then Behringer!

Seriously, so far 2/4 of their products have crapped out on me in one way or another. Mind you I suggest their new axiom controllers. I just bought the Axiom 49 with semi-weighted keys and the "MPC" style pads and it's a pretty solid/tight midi controller. 250$ new (only beef is they don't sell you the power adapter with it so your forced to use the fucking thing through usb unless you buy an after market adapter somewhere)

Producing anything on the oxygen 8 just became really annoying after a while cuz you can't really play any solid piano on it, minus a few simple synth leads or bass lines thus why I sold it to you, actually I kinda feel bad being that apparently they are flawed.

also if I remember right, you can assign individual knobs to a specific midi cc. So you crack open the vst manual, figure out what midi cc number the parameter your trying to control is, then you can assign the knob to that specific cc. But ableton is like super midi friendly, Scotty has your answer right there.

fuck that I figured it out

Take highway 15 north to St-Jovite. Follow the 117 north to Mont-Laurier, After Mont-Laurier, continue on the 117 for 15 km and turn left (exit Ste-Famille d’Aumond et Maniwaki). When you cross the little village of St-Famille d’Aumond, continue for another 15 km. At the stop sign, go straight to Ste-Thérèse-de-la-Gatineau. After 13 km, take Chemin Rivière Gatineau on your right. Continue for another 7 km and you are at Bonnet Rouge!

Whatever I think it just boils down to professionalism, respect and intent.

Mistakes happen. If some unfortunate event takes place that requires the promoter to dish out a lot of cash up-front, and he came to me and explained himself and the situation and talked to me about possibly paying me back in some other way (like a guaranteed booking at his next event, hell even a few bears) or later on then I wouldn't have a problem.

I think the line should be drawn when a promoter starts lying or takes actions with complete disregard for the party go-ers or djs.

Then there are some promoters that keep me up at night wondering how natural selection hasn't killed them off yet.

I think those are the only promoters any dj should voice out against.

Anyways I think any good DJ should at least be part of the scene for a little while, then stay in the scene while practicing for at least another year. That's right, if you've only been in the scene for 4-5 months, then have been mixing for 2-3 months you fucking shouldn't be playing at raves! I'd never grab a guitar, or any other instrument for that matter, and play a big show after I've only been playing for 6 months. I have a crossfader plugin for winamp that does a better job then some dj's I've heard play in front of 200-300 people. Thus any good dj should have a pretty good idea as to which promoters have respect and actually give a shit, and those who don't.

As a DJ your responsible for creating your image, the promoters you chose to play for have a big impact. It works both ways, but nobody likes whiners. Think about it.

jumping on this a bit late, but I'm using the audio-technica ATH-PRO5MSA

They're pretty basic but they're super solid. Like, they've been dropped down flights of stairs completely crushed by having fat people sit on them, I've had sex on them unknowingly, had beers dropped on them ect. They're about 3-4 years old now and they still work like new.

In terms of sound quality, "DJ" headphones shouldn't be about amazing sound quality. Using my headphones for production is a big fail because what they do is boost up the bass and high end frequencies. But that's awesome when your mixing because those are the elements you need to pay attention to. Also they're super loud.

1st thing is are you using hacked software?

I had cubase 3 & 4 running on a Vista 32 bit laptop. Apparently Cubase is easier to crack on Vista, is just involves replacing a cubase.dll file out of system32, but it's a lot buggier, and has a tenancy to crash.

I'm using 3 on XP 32 Bit, and even though I'm not using my computer to it's full potential cubase is solid as a rock.

If your not using pirated software then you should be fine, take advantage of 64 bit. Only thing is if your using an old soundcard, check to make sure drivers are available first, and that their not in "beta" mode.

I think the track is pretty solid, just that your percussions detract from the overall feel of the track, try working on them some more.

Derrick May
Juan Atkins

Start with that and you'll probably find quite a few other artists.

They should make a reality t.v. show: Promoter - Montreal

you get a handful of promoters together and force them all to throw an event on the same night and watch the drama that ensues at each party.

Anyways you reap the seeds you sow, karma will come back to bite you in the ass one day.
