Vista 64 Bits And Producing?

Hey! My computer is dead and I need to buy another one.
I was working on Cubase 3 (I'm buying the Cubase 5 upgrade soon) and I was using a lot of NI VSTs and some free ones such as Glitch and.

Here's my question :
I saw a lot of people talking about how bad Vista was for composing since not every program is compatible on 64 bits.
So I'm wondering what's the best I can have right now? Should I buy a new one, replace Vista by XP? Keep Vista? Or should I say screw PC and buy a Mac instead and use some "VST compatibility" softwares?

The only thing that's really much of a problem is drivers; you need 64 bit drivers for your hardware.. Unless you're using software that dates back to the early days of WinXP and hasn't been updated since, chances are you're not gonna have problems running them.

1st thing is are you using hacked software?

I had cubase 3 & 4 running on a Vista 32 bit laptop. Apparently Cubase is easier to crack on Vista, is just involves replacing a cubase.dll file out of system32, but it's a lot buggier, and has a tenancy to crash.

I'm using 3 on XP 32 Bit, and even though I'm not using my computer to it's full potential cubase is solid as a rock.

If your not using pirated software then you should be fine, take advantage of 64 bit. Only thing is if your using an old soundcard, check to make sure drivers are available first, and that their not in "beta" mode.
I'm feeling wtf charles? right now..

I produce on 64bit Vista,

I built a custom computer (laptop with SCSI HD, Dual CPU (with Dual Core Processors), 4 GB ram etc.

Problem was definitely getting my hardware to detect, had to custom write drivers for some stuff.

I use mostly Reason + Hardware and sometimes Cubase (for VSTi's) but I use them rarely now a days.

The only program I had trouble with was Ableton believe it or not.. its very "buggy"

Mind you, dual booting XP is fairly easy now a days.
I'm feeling fucking bored at wor right now..

cracks for 32 bit xp doesnt work in vista 32 or 64 because of the DRM

also lots of air/aio release cant be used as well, but if you get vista supported stuff its gonna work worry not. like screwhead beside some drivers issues , that kinda cover them all. oh yea drm is a bitch in vista and 7.

ableton works perfect. fm7 too, all native instruments ( not aio ) too , some might worked but for vista from the start. im talking about porting the 32 bit xp onward to 64 bit vista / win 7

this is what i heard :D
I'm feeling tarfu right now..

You heard wrong.. Absolutley everything on my computer is cracked and I never had a problem running cracks, keygens, patchers, etc.. AIR/H2O/whatever, they all work fine..

The DRM that everyone is pissed about is in Win7 and only affects legaly-aquired movies (they won't full-screen unless the graphic card detects that it's hooked up to a DRM-compliant monitor or something similar, so that you can't hook up say an old projecter or old TV-Out card to your VCR to make dupes)
I'm feeling like a drama magnet right now..
