^ The problem with you man is that any good relevant information you provide is masked in a sea of shitty grammar, anger, and complete lack of focus due to you stroking your own ego.

So what's your point?

All I could gather is that being that your some electrical engineering super genius that has logged millions of hours studying wiring schematics, and has somehow "shielded" your own amps in such a way that.. (I miss your point here, from my understanding all better wiring and isolation in an amp can do is lower the noise floor) So due to the parentheses your somehow able to hear the entire audible frequency spectrum and you can also point out the difference between mp3 and Wav no matter what the system....

Try making some valid points and providing some good concrete information in correct grammar without putting your dick out on the table and maybe you won't look like such a retard. I'm sure your pretty knowledgeable, but you don't have a friggin clue how to present any of this knowledge.

If you could find the sources for those figures that would be great! I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Actually I did find some sources with some interesting facts all in one article...

-"In a typical winter, seasonal flu strains cause 200,000 U.S. hospitalizations and 36,000 deaths, the vast majority in people over 65. Seasonal influenza doesn't usually start circulating until November. Swine flu began a big climb in September, leading to what CDC called unprecedented high levels of illness so early in a season — and no way to know when the flu will peak. "

-"Deaths could range from a low of 2,500 to as many as 6,100, depending on how the data's analyzed. CDC settled on 3,900 as the best estimate."

Your "4000" deaths is technically an estimate...

I just actually checked out the recording (mp3 but let's not revive that) and i have to agree the recording is beautiful. I did actually hear the wood creaking slightly in the pew (Mackie HR824).

Ugh there's just something about large natural church reverbs that no VST can emulate.

^ two stereo mics for that great of a recording? If you could find me an article or something about that it would be great, but to really get that full surround type sound I'm pretty sure you'd need a pretty crazy mic setup to pick up the ambiance and natural reverb of the church.

Shit man, bras are like my weakness. Well it depends actually... I can do it almost perfectly with my right hand, but when that hand is tied up sometimes I try to use my left, and it's like epic fail every time.

Or have you ever been un-hooking and get all the hooks out except 1, then the stupid thing gets like stuck because all the boob pressure is relying on that one hook. Then your forced to like double hand it.

And while I'm at it, fuck you frontally dismantled bras. I don't give a shit if your Houdini there is no way to suavely remove you. What is with this stupid twist and pull either up or down motion. It's obvious that these were the creation of some smart feminist somewhere.

I'll go with cutter and say that if you train yourself to hear the difference it is by all means possible. To say that you can get it 100% of the time on any system is bullshit though. I've heard a fair many systems that cut-off at like 16khz.

To say that you can hear it through a phone is complete and total bullshit. I've been training my ears for a long fucking time, and I still have problems making out what people say sometimes via shitty rogers reception.

Nice track

Something I noticed though is that your Kick seems to really mask the bass whenever it comes in (from like 1:06 - 1:25), it sounds like side-chaining, or if you have a limiter on your master then maybe your overloading and it's squashing the signal whenever the kick comes in. It seems to go away after wards when the track becomes less dense so my guess is the limiter

If I were you I'd try to notch some space in the bass(Figure out where the fundamental frequencies of your kick lie)

Also I think if you cleaned up the lower mids (like 200 - 1000 hz)the track would come out as being much more clear, and it would give your bass more room to breathe.

Still a great track though I like it, don't take my comments the wrong way, I think you can always improve your tracks.

Anyways I managed to figure it out between my friends and my place is still full, you can try contacting the owner though as I'm sure some leases are gonna be up soon.

I found a link on kijiji actually: [ montreal.kijiji.ca ]

The guys name is Richard, he's real cool, used to be in a band himself, built the place with that in mind.

Awesome track, I agree with Kalin though.

Another thing you might consider is having more leads with a little more low end. You gotta realize that most harmonic content is located between 250hz to 1000hz.

But still I'd say it's some of your best production yet.

Don't go to cite 2000 that place sucks balls, apparently you can't be there after 12? Who the hell jams at supper time anyways?

I'm at this place called MusiCube right now near st.michel and industrial. It's fucking awesome; every room has it's own alarm system hooked up to central, air-conditioning/heating, carpeting, central vac, strobe light with it's own independant door-bell outside. And the rooms are pretty damn nice, my room is huge (by huge I mean we have 2 drumkits, PA system, 3 couches, 52" Tv. Marshall Mod 4 Amp, with enough room to still pull cart-wheels)

I know a few others though, there's one on the corner of Jarry & Viau but it's a shithole (and you can't smoke in there anymore since my room-mate kinda accidentally burnt our room down)

There's another one on Balzac (not far from pie 9) and Industrial, I heard it's pretty nice since they've renovated but back in the day the place burnt down and everyone in it got there shit either stolen or destroyed.

There's another place on Hochelaga that's apparently pretty cool, but last I checked it was full.

But yo my guitarist has just decided that he's going to fuck off for Australia soon, and I'm not too sure what the situation with our room is gonna be. We actually might be looking for someone (pretty trustworthy/reliable) to share our room with.

If not I can hook you up with the contact info for the place, I'll take it down next time I go

ha the fletcher-munson curve basically explains it.

Don't get me wrong I figure bass could damage your hearing as well, but our ears are the most sensitive to frequencies I think between something like 5000 - 8000 hz, which is where the clarity of speech lies.

» Bad_Chemistry répondu dessus Tue 29 Sep, 2009 @ 10:42pm. Posted in Question: Is mixing in key important?.
bad_chemistry
Coolness: 73085
First you gotta understand music theory and realize just because it's in the same "key" doesn't mean it'll sound good together. Knowing whether you're track is in C or D doesn't cut it. If one track is C Natural Minor, and one is C Harmonic Minor if any notes after the 5th (G)land on the same space it's going to sound very bad.

Then good luck figuring out exactly what key your track is in, unless you have perfect pitch.

Then you gotta realize that it's really hard to "change the key" of a track without making it sound like shit. Most songs are composed of layered sounds (pitched and un-pitched) so altering the key of a track to mix it in will usually make it sound totally off. (try it open up any audio editor and pitch shift an entire track just one semitone up and see what happens)

So your basically left with... track selection

You wanna know how I do it? I listen to to the track playing and then I imagine what it would sound like with the melody of the track I'm bringing in over top. Sometimes I'm dead on and get two melodies over each other which work really well and then I can extend the mix, other times they don't always sound as good so I cut it faster.

Anyways if you don't really have a good musical ear I wouldn't worry, nobody at the party aside from maybe a few other djs and maybe a promoter or two really have any idea what's going on. You really think two e-tards are looking at each-other going "Wow I really like how the augmented 7th of that last track led right into the tonic of the other track".
