If you want to gain some working experience in costumer service, McDonald have some of the worst costumer that you can get. It will test your patience and if you can get a year done, you will be able to behind any cash register. But if you want to work in a proper restaurant, DON'T GO TO McDonald! McDonalds is fucking disgusting. granted I will go there in a pinch.. like on my to and from Ottawa last week in Union Station I got McNuggets and a McChicken.. I was in a rush, it was right there, so in that case yeah.. better that than starving before a long trip... but in general, I hate what it represents, and without meaning to sound snobbish, I hate the kind of trashy people it attracts. In Hamilton, the McDonalds at Jackson Square always has fucking disgusting urban trash hanging out there, homeless people sleeping with their head on the table, snoring. bleh |

Even when everything about what was wrong came out, well, the damage to their rep had already been done and no one was eating there, even if they had a new meat supplier, so they all went out of business. I just don't like to see some drunk passed out in a booth spluttering phlegm on the table while I'm trying to eat my lunch, so I avoid shitholes like that. the last time I was down in Jackson Square was in the winter on a really cold day. there was this homeless guy sitting there outside the mall at Bay & King. he asked me for change as I passed. so I told him I was in a hurry to get to an appointment - which was true - but said I'd be coming back this way later. so I asked him if he'd like a coffee, and how many sugars and creams he wanted in it.. so later on when my appointment was over I brought him a bag of donuts and muffins and danishes (which the girls who worked at the cafe donated), an extra-large cofeee, and some change. he didn't seem to specifcally remember talking to me, but he was friendly and very glad to have some hot coffee sitting out there in the freezing cold. so I chatted to him for a minute and went on my way. I don't see people like that as trash. I see them as lost souls who need help and could use some friendly conversation. so long as they're not aggressive, sometimes I'll stop and help em out with food or some money and chat to em. I used to do that a lot when I lived in Kensington Market and Parkdale. you seem em in your neighbourhood a few times every day, so you get to know some of em. the bottom line of how I judge people is how well they treat others. so if you abuse some people or walk on them and push them aside to get what you want, then no matter how rich or poor you are, to me you are trash. but if a homeless person is fundamentally good, and doesn't bother others, then I have no problem with them as a person. so your theory is wrong. |
