Yeah, well, I'm not saying McDo is godly, but however, Greenpeace is just as biased the other way around. So I guess there's a truth for the general public that is only balanced by a truth for hippies. Anything balanced?

First, you misread what I wrote. I said beef produced from rain forest land isnt generally the beef that gets exported. YOu know why? BEcause large scale farmers don't farm in the rainforest. YOu know why? BEcause the rainforest blows for farming. Why does it matter? BEcause large scale farmers are the only ones who can get export licences and meet the inspection and grading requirements for export. Large scale farmers farm on the grass lands because thats where the money is. 45-55% of beef in brazil comes from the grasslands. Another 25-35% comes from 4 southern states. That leaves a maximum of 20% coming from teh rainforest. And the actual number is nowhere near that. Its entirely possible the rainforest is responsible for closer to 5-10%...and again, its normally for domestic use. Cattle from the amazon goes to sketchy slaughterhouses...that meet would never get approved for export.

Second, McDonald gets processed audits done so it can make the claims it does. Thats right...you can't just make claims without backing them up in the real world. If you find any legitimate document saying that they import beef to use in Canada, I will be sincerely suprised. But you won't. Because the auditors wouldn't let them because of the agreement between the Canadian Cattlemans Association and McDonalds.

Third, Beef that is processed in Canada is not Canadian Beef. The Canadian Beef Label was created by Canadian ranchers who wanted to differentiate themselves from others for protectionist and export reasons. In fact, you seem to be suggesting that they slaughter the beef in brazil, then send it to Canada for processing. That is absolutely retarded.

Fourth, the links you provided had nothing to do with mcdonalds or exported beef. It actually proves my point about large scale cattle ranching with rainforest land decreasing over time, and about how most of the cattle on rainforest land is for domestic use. It also suggests that cattle raised for beef is the same as cattle raised for milk. That doesn't happen.
I'm feeling a overhang right now..

Actually, what I once heard from a Comm/Marketing teacher is that the "100% Beef/100% Boeuf" that appears on wrappers was indeed the name of the company that made the wrappers.

For McD's defense (sucks being the devil's advocate sometimes ), this wouldn't jeopardize the beef's origin, just the content of the "beef" patty
