I didn't realize Centre-Sud extended all the way to St-Hubert Street... Fine then: "the part of Centre-Sud commonly mistaken for part of Hochelaga" :p

You mean between Papineau and Frontenac?

I've been living and working in Centre-sud for the past 11 years and it's really gotten better. A lot less prostitution, syringes and sketchy peoples than in Hochlag. Plus there are a lot of good restaurants and stores in the Village (if you dont mind all the dudes ;).

Centre-Sud extends almost to Métro Joliette. Stops a couple streets short.

Also, my last apt. was corner Pie-IX/Masson haha.
It wasn't scary at all, except for the one time a friend got approached in his car by a toothless whore at 7pm.

lol. qft. he makes it sound like some no-go area like the South Bronx back in the day. this guy must lead a sheltered life if he thinks you're in danger of getting stabbed in downtown MTL.

Montreal is safer than Toronto, and even when I lived at Bloor and Lansdowne - that area was known to be dangerous and very dodgy late at night - but nobody ever tried to stab me. after a while the crack dealers and sketchy locals would just ignore me or say hi to me when I walk by. just be friendly and confident and mind your business and usually people will leave you alone.

hmmm I don't agree.. it's not fair to say that someone who gets viciously attacked by some scumbag must have deserved it. in fact it's often the exact opposite. a lot of the time people get attacked because they *dont* want trouble. the attacker senses that they are vulnerable, so they're an easy mark for him to vent his frustrations on.

That's always good to know! When I finish cégep and get a job I'll move somewhere in Mtl. Hope it's gonna be around Pie-IX, I'd like to go rollerskating in the parks and take a nap under a blossomed cherry tree at the botanical garden. Also, a good number of friends live around there.
I'm feeling like sushi for breakfast right now..
