Everyone seems to think they are so special and are in the movie. It's really funny. When someone has 500 hours of footage, not everything is going into the movie and only the best stuff would go in the movie. So if you said something interesting, you will probably be in the movie. If you didn't say anything interesting, you probably won't be in the movie.

Anyways, now people will have to wait another week before knowing what the movie is all about. I'm sure it's going to give an awesome impression of Montreal, the nightlife scene and the people in it and what they think.

you said that already. the fact that you may or may not be in the movie does not exclude that you may be. and that there is no way of knowing until the movie is already out.

and some people don't even know that the movie exist and are in it.

And that is what the screening was for... To get opinions and last minute changes for the movie. To really know if you are in it before claiming you are. And to watch the movie and then make your comments about it instead of making comments on something you have not seen. It was a small screening for selected people who wanted to see the film. No one was getting a copy of it. With all this fuss, I think the whole world should now get a copy of it.

I'm sure we all have pictures on this site that we wish never existed. There is a whole youtube argument about what is right and what is wrong. We will never all agree with each other on that.

Here is a copy/paste taken from a user in another forum:

First post :
"il m'a filmé un fois dans un rave partie. et quelques temps après, il m'avait trouvé sur [ rave.ca ] et m'avais demandé la permission de diffuser ma face dans le film. j'ai refusé."

Next post :
"ok, je viens de recevoir un msg comme de quoi, je serai finalement dans son film.

THIS is the only thing I've got against the movie... It's not because I don't agree with the way he went about this project that I'm against freedom of speech!

Noah, interviewing some kid high out of his/her face doesn't offer an informed or coherent opinion(I've watched some of the footage and found it deplorable). Including, and this case focusing on, those types of "opinions" about Montreal's "underground scene" can only help dilute it's actuality and can possibly cause it harm by turning interested people away. This juvenile mentality of savoir-faire for producing a documentary film is transparent and presents a rather flawed image of it's subject matter, though this was perhaps Antonio's desire. From what I gathered from the trailer, the diversity and informativeness of those interviewed seemed rather narrow and uninformed. Anyone can go to parties and film people, interview them and then call it a documentary, but that doesn't make it and actual documentary film.

ANyways, there is no debate for me on this issue, as far as I am concerned, the footages current legal situation most likely could have been avoided if those responsible ACTED ACCORDINGLY, petty or not, it is what it is...

That Psy-documentary example illustrates the way he should've done his movie and gotten support of 100% of the community.

Can people stop basing the film on the trailers... The trailers were practice for the film. People need to make something in order to learn how to use the programs which are used to put together a movie. That is people's problems. A director can make a bad movie and then a good one after.

As for the way he should have progressed, there are many ways about it. Maybe he didn't choose the right path, not everyone does.

Live and learn... And that is exactly what he is doing.

The whole thing with Playground is it's stupid that they are causing so much deal over something that was put online years ago. There are tons of their footage online which they claim is not legal but they accept being there.

Lady A: Once again I think you are talking about "POLA - The Music"... Not "POLA - The Movie"... I think a lot of people were in "POLA - The Music" who might have not wanted to be there. A lot more people were in "POLA - The Music" then are in "POLA - The Movie". "POLA - The Movie" is people talking, not as much party footage as I know.

I think only like 40 people actually saw "POLA - The Music".
I think only 100 people were supposed to see "POLA - The Movie".

People are really over reacting. This is not a blockbuster film. People are taking it like the world is going to see them. I think there is some footage of me being arrested somewhere in there. Is anyone really going to see it. I wonder...

And in the end, the 5 second clip from one of the trailers which has Bal En Blanc or Tiesto in it will be removed (after their day in court), in which case copies of the original trailers will probably appear online again somewhere. It's not like 100's of people don't already have copies of all the trailers. Some people will have spent thousands of dollars to get this done with no accomplishments and life will go on and the movie will be released free to the public. I for one will support it.

But Noah, basing the film on the trailer is the reason for trailers being necessary? It gives future prospect audience members a peak at what the film is about. Furthermore, trailers should not be practice for anything, they should be a formulated caption of the final product, aimed at enticing attention.

yeh the project hardly seems stable - the trailers are practically the movie, you get the jist of what it's about in like 3 minutes. 1-People are high, 2-Some are delusional 3-We all love music

do we need a full length movie about it? I'm just wondering here..

The trailers were the past 2 years of Antonino learning how to use Adobe Premiere or whatever program he used to make the movies in using a Macintosh. He put them online just like people put their party movie mixes on youtube all the time.

As for what it should or not should be practice for is not for us to say. Everyone works differently. I coded [ rave.ca ] to practice coding for work. Antonino made small videos about what he is interested in in order to learn.

As for attention, I think the trailers worked at grabbing people's attention. It got way more attention then anyone thought they would bring.

And Alex, stop talking about the movie like you know what it's about because you didn't see it. You are just presuming the movie is like the trailers. And it seems all people see in the trailers are fucked up people. We all know some of the trailers are sketchy just like some youtube ones are. But I'm sure Antonino didn't make the movie to make anyone look sketchy like in the trailers. He learnt from his mistakes. The newer trailers are nothing like the older ones.

Anyways... I'm done for today...

Ok Noah, all I'm saying is that the trailers should be clearly labeled if his intention was to simply grab peoples attention by shock footage. You're right in saying that everyone works differently, but those of us that would rather be taken seriously then brushed aside or injunctioned know that there are preset conduits for successful ventures. I can totally put aside my presumptions until I watch the final product(if I ever get to watch it), but it should be noted that with all of the current negative stigma this film is surrounded with, it may be tarnished indefinitely. The old saying that "any press is good press" is not true at all in real life; even those icons with seemingly infallible reputations can be struck down by the publics opinion based on even one seemingly insignificant instance. The same can be applied ten-fold for those even less recognized...

There are a lot of people who do support the film, not only me... Just a quick glace at Antonino's profile on Facebook says it all. It's just like news, you only ever hear the bad stuff. For sure you will get to see a copy of it eventually and then everyone can finally make a real opinion of it.

Noah, was there a plot or storyline or moral to this thing? Narration? Anything?
I'm just curious, no I didn't see the movie, nor did I give permission for him to use
my face or actions in it. Yet I kinda seemed forced like everyone to nut up and shut up
about it since it's for some kinda "cause"

I don't see any plot, story line, moral or even a point coming across in the trailers, and I thought
that's what those are for. Not to just shuck random people and ideals at you with no explanation.
It makes no sense. So no, I didn't see the movie, but what's becoming clearer and clearer is that
something like this, that has had so much attention and controversy surrounding it, still hasn't come
to light for anyone, and hasn't received any positive or negative feedback in any way. And there was a screening. That has to tell you something bud, no one is screaming "SEE POLA THE MOVIE, YOU WONT REGRET IT!"

see where I'm going with this? It's all been negative attention. Pretty weird imo.

What about the music use in the film i am pretty sure no licensing was done either. Same situation has for the images if the movie would have been done properly it maybe would have been a great thing but now its just something put together by an amateur and it goes against countless laws on copyright etc.

Using music and images without proper paperwork and approbation is just wrong

Some people here that seems to pursue the thought that there is nothing wrong with the way that movie was done need to step out of they're PLUR bubble and get a reality check!

Some people are capitalist pigs also... Different way of thinking...

How many MP3's have you ever downloaded...
How many programs have you used without paying for them...
How many times did you photocopy a book for school...

We all have copied stuff...

If you make something for free, my opinion is that you should be able to copy whatever you want to make it. If you want to sell it, then things change.

Antonino was showing a movie to people of this website and other communities who want to see the movie. For FREE. I don't see many people doing free large projects like this without asking anything in return. Thousands of hours of work and all the guy wants to do is show the movie to some people and you can't let him do that.

What the fuck is wrong with you people...
