i gotta say, the old port isn't the easiest place to get to, metro only even get you about 10 blocks or more away from that place...
I'm feeling hype right now..

what are you talking about? That is right at the exit to Champ de Mars Metro...You exit, take the passerelle under st antoine, exit the other side and the park is right there.

Or if you prefer its 6 streets walking straight down Berri metro, straight down St- Denis to Gosford.

Ooops sorry Mike, upon further review that is indeed NOT park Champ De Mars

HOwever maybe you should look into that one as well, not on the water, byt a nice big green space in behind HOtel de Ville
I'm feeling jungle jam in june! right now..

I would much rather hold this event near the water than on the mountain, although the atmosphere and environment of people is not as nice.

Seems like the city wants us to move to Ile St Helene... I'm not sure about how good this is but we will see if they find a nice space for us or not... It would be by the water for sure, there would be grass and so on... It's just a little out of the way...

I like the Gazebo, but Pete seems to not mind the Island. We will see what we can come up with... In theory we can keep fighting with the city but that could be years before something is done legally. The other option is to annoy them and keep changing places and do it somewhere inside the mountain.
I'm feeling nuclear right now..

this is the finished result for my letter btw.

Hello,
my name is Jean-Philippe Leroux and i am writting to you today because i feel that there is complete lack of justice in a situation that was brought to my attention in the last few weeks.
I had the pleasure to witness at mont-royal a small group of vulenteers and artists who put efforts into getting there music out there in a positive and overwhelmingly friendly way for no income and in a safe maner. They take care of being very clean and they are very diplomatic when it comes to the authorities trying to stop them from doing these small happening. It promotes local artists which is great for me and many other as i myself have been invited to play at his event.
Everybody and anyone is welcomed to join them to come and enjoy what they organise , they do not act as a private group and do not act as though they own this public zone , they simply bring there own touch of magic to it by providing tools for the musicians. It is 100% free and it does not disturb the peace as they do this in a parc where a lot of noise is allready being generated and they would even be whilling to do compromises and move it to another area near the mountain if necessary (as long as it is not too close to residential areas which would bother the people there that are relaxing on their Sunday afternoon) since apparently you good people at the city fear that this will reduce the value and the finess of the national parc that is the mountain.

Ive been notified of your response to the responsibles of the event when he approached you which stipulates that you are protecting this national treasure of ours. Please explain to me in what way specifically are they compromising this parc? Did anyone at least go investigate the gathering to look into how things were handled there and what was happening? You should if you haven’nt because it might enlighten you on the nature of the group and also possibly give them a chance to prove they are doing this the right way.
Each and every times i personally visited the mountain in past 5 years there has been electronic music there organised by various small groups and i have enjoyed spending time there quite a few times while it was being held by other groups. Ive seen many many people not related to the group come there through the years just to see the people smilling enjoying our green mountain , the weather and the beautifull music the various artists have been playing. Previously i was’nt aware there was a legal issue since music is allready happening at the mountain but if it is necessary this group (noah gitelman and the organiser’s) are ready to take any legal requirement forward if required to get a permit. But tell me , whats the difference between 100 person playing tam tams and a few good citizens who bring there own equipement and there own electricity in a safe area to let everyone enjoy there art for free? Is it fair to let a massive group do something and then when someone brings something new or try’s to enhance the experience tell him he cannot for reason’s i fail to understand and would appreciate being enlightened on.
The reason Montreal steps up compared to other citys in Canada is that when it comes to tourism and all the different attractions you can find within the city , we have diversity in all domains and are known worldwide for being strong on the festivals and artistique value and this situation does not represent that , it actually shows resendement towards local projects held in the manner you should be expecting and most importantly respecting. If they would play jazz or classic music would it be the same issue? I doubt it and the organiser’s let the “DJs” do what they please as long as everyone there respond’s well to the music they play.
I am whilling to take some of my time off work to come meet you so we can discuss this further because i cannot understand on what grounds and in what interest this is being refused to them. Preferably contact the responsible of the event and negotiate some kind of a permit to do this. Its been done in the past for other similar events which are pillarstones of the citys tourists attractions. Take the piknic electronique as an example if you will or any other event involving music. This actually as a great impact for the city as it makes people gather outside in the city and spend money as well as move in our very active city where they might after going to at the event , go to the movies , have dinner in a restaurant , buy some clothes in a boutique which at the moment is what our economy needs.
To conclude i am looking forward to your response and i appreciate you taking the time to read my letter.
Sincerely Jean-Philippe Leroux

It might seems snob but I have a tendency to tune out of a letter when there is too many written mistakes.

i doesn't sound snob, it is.

good advise dealing with the snobs none the less. ;D

i get what u mean , im pulling your chain , thou i still find its a little too much derogatory and unrespectfull of people having different education than others. some ppl have to find work at 13y old . and everybody can pull the spell check, what happens if the guy who wrote it in the first place doesnt even know . this is just a "need" you created of wanting to deal with ppl of a certain education . ill just leave this here. ;P
