i think this law is discriminating, i as a paying fucking customer have a fucken rite to smoke when and where the fuck i want.
Except hospitals etc, but wtf where r my rights. Theres more important issues that should be dealt with. Its pure B fuckin S!

yeah, also, as a customer I should have the right to piss on the wall of a bar! No, but hey! I'm paying yo! I can do anything I want! I'm the customer!
I should be able to grab a shovel and start hitting people arround me! I like to do that with a beer! I'm a customer, I pay to be there, so I can do whatever I want, even if it's not good for other people health and sanitie! IT'S MY RIGHT TO DO SO!!!

Sorry to interject but I'd like to share my opinion for those who are mature enough to respect that not everyone in today's society is a smoker, and that some people would prefer to live in an environment that doesn't contain the potential for unrequested, avoidable health hazards.

First off, smoking isn't a right, its a priviledge...Somehow we've become so arrogant as a species that everyone's forgotten that rights dont exist... especially in today's society where almost all pseudo-freedoms (ie: the right to privacy, freedom of speech, etc) are arbitrarily overruled by governmental powers of authority. The honest truth (as hard as it may be to accept) is that none of us even have the right to exist... nobody earns their "right to existence" and consequently we should be grateful to the fact that we're even here at all instead of taking it all for granted and poisoning both ourselves and those around us. cigarettes and the toxic emissions released from burning car fuel are just 2 examples of complete carelessness in today's popular culture which are not only destroying the ozone layer at an alarming, perpetually increasing rate but will no doubt also affect the quality of life (or lack thereof) for future generations...

I was a smoker for 10 years and I've recently come to several existential realizations. One of which is that I can't simply have faith in technological and medicinal advancements (with any confidence whatsoever) as far as inventing cures for smoking-related diseases because it may be too late once they even do become available to the public (assuming that stem-cell research will even allow for their development within our generation). As a result, I have recently decided not to smoke so that I may increase the probabilty of being around to watch my children grow up (once I decide it's time to become a father) and hopefully, with some luck, I'll even have the opportunity to see their children grow up, graduate high-school, and start a families of their own one day...

Know that we all make choices every day which inevitably affect us, our environment, and the people around us. I beg you all to open your eyes to the truth and acknowledge that we are all blessed to live in a time where we have the power to communicate and influence one another on a positive level. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't feel gratitude for all those who've helped to influence me, consequently improving the quality of my own life experience. I don't believe its our right (or even in our best intrests) to display acts of selfishness through personal desire when we have the ability to spread a message of hope and understanding to those around us. I believe it's our duty to help each one another and save certain individuals from their own misguided ignorance which will have harmful, and potentially fatal consequences. You have the right to disagree but hopefully you can appreciate my perspective.

Quitting is never as easy as giving into temptation but the challenge alone should be motivation enough for all of you to make the right decision which is, of course, to save yourselves. I recommend that you all look in the mirror and evaluate where you'd like to see yourselves in 30 years. You alone have the willpower to conquer what may seem like a difficult, biologically addicted predisposition. I encourage you to do so by any means necessary otherwise you know what the alternative consequences will be...

And If I'm not mistaken, Stogies (2015 Crescent St, corner De Maissoneuve) is the only bar left downtown where you can actually smoke (since they have a cigar lounge license) but I would only recommend going there if you enjoy a pastiche of good martinis... they're a bit expensive ($12 apiece) but there's 101 of them on the menu. Check it out, that is to say if you're lucky enough to get a seat in there (which is highly improbably since every smoker downtown has practically migrated there)....

Hopefully this post finds you well. If it helps at lease one of you make the decision to live a healthier lifestyle then my work has been a success and I thank you for reading. Those who know me well will vouch for the fact that I am always open to constructive critisism. You have the right to disagree with my opinion on the topic but you simply can't deny the rationality behind my words.

If you can justify smoking another cigarette for any valid reason whatsoever (aside from satisfying your own personal addictive desire) than I'd like to know what it is...

pheonix: thx for your post..it made me think about all the positive reason to stop smokin.. its hard in our society to do things for other reasons than our simple pleasur.. on est tous affecter par lidee quon a juste une vie a vivre et sa nous rend tres egoistes et presser par le temps ce qui augmente le stress de tout le monde et qui nous poussent a utiliser des bequilles pour (regler) nos probleme en surface le plus rapidement possible..c est pas garenti que jarrette de fumer dret la par exemple... =S
