Je suis vraiment content d'avoir pu faire mon live au Parking avec une bonne crowd comme hier et tout a très bien été. Content d'avoir vu autant de visages familiers dans la foule pendant que je jouais et ensuite sur le dancefloor.

In fact, most people don't even know how to operate a turntable or turn up the volume on a mixer. ;)

The bottom line is, what people understand is how to have a good time when they hear good music (but maybe even that is debatable hehe) and they couldn't care less about what technology the DJ is using to play, as long as they enjoy the music. This makes this a DJ debate. We can just notice how the only ones who posted about this here are all DJs. Everyone else doesn't care about the Vinyl vs CD vs Serato debate. ;) We could argue that playing CDs is "less of a show" than playing vinyl. However, you can't blame the medium all that much for that. We just don't use it to its full potential yet. When you see what James Zabiela can do with 3 CDJ-1000s and a Pioneer EFX box, you'll understand how these things can be a really good show as well. There's people out there that can push this stuff further.

I still have mixed feelings about all of this, because I still like playing vinyl a lot more than playing CDs, but I'm getting a bit tired of some of its downsides (very costly, very heavy). There's even some of the tracks I play now that are not released on vinyl. I guess I should also say that playing CDs allows me to play my own productions, which I like to do to test out my new material.

Traktor Scratch is just the new version of Final Scratch. Everyone knows that Final Scratch was based on the Traktor interface, just that you could control it with an actual vinyl. The thing definetly does not mix for you. You're still controlling the software using two encoded vynils. Basically, it's the same experience as mixing vinyl, except that you don't have to haul around 50 pounds of records, which is pretty legitimate and understandable if you ask me, especially if you're taking the plane 10 times per month with your stuff to play around the world.

Or, when a DJ clicks to add himself to a line-up, the event's creator could receive a request to approve it before it shows up on the line-up.

Another amazing night in Sherbrooke. Always a blast to play in such a friendly, intimate environment with a crowd of "fresh ears" ready to party all night! Good times!

En tout cas... je suis sceptique, on verra bien. Mais si ce n'est qu'un DJ set, c'est crissement décevant.

Y'a une osti de différence entre voir un live de Justice avec seulement de leurs productions et remixes, avec un set-up visuel et un stage monté pour l'occasion, ou voir les deux mecs jouer des disques de d'autres en mixant comme des pieds, avec deux tables tournantes sur une table et un set-up "barebone", car on s'entend qu'ils sont 1000 fois meilleurs producteurs que DJ.

C'est vraiment whack si c'est le cas, car ce n'est pas annonce comme tel.... :(

Another crazy night! Music was very good from start to finish. Nice crowd and people looked like they were really enjoying themselves. I had a blast playing and I'm really looking forward to going another live... (nov 15 @ Parking ;)).

Yes, there can be a debate about sound quality between these two programs (and between quite a few). However, the main problem, for me, is not so much about sound quality. It's more about getting your creative juices flowing. For that, you're better off with a software that is intuitive and that lets you actually sit down and make music, as opposed to always fight against it to do whatever you want. Whatever some people say about Live and Reason's sound quality, I still keep using both of these because they work in a way that I find intuitive and that inspires me on a creative level.

We could argue that producing is exactly the same, except that you need WAY MORE practice before you actually sound any good and that most people get discouraged before that point.

I agree with madforbrad. Take any commercialy available food or drink product in a ridiculous amount and you will die.

If you read the article, you will also find out that the guy did not even eat that day! No food + stupid amount of red bull + motocross race... no wonder he almost killed himself.

I had an awesome time playing there with G'Obrien. Definetly one of my top sets ever. Tags can be weird sometimes, but everything was flowing just nicely this time around, as if we were picking the tracks out of the same record bag. :)
