Hey Seb,

Did I tell you about the early prototype flyers for this party?

On one of them I wrote the name of the party as "Sprungle in Da Jungle". :lol

There have been many interesting points raised about how people interpreted this, our first anniversary. Most of the aforementioned were not explicitly stated but rather subconsciously implied throughout the candid discourse above. But please, if you will for the amusement of the court. What exactly was this party all about to you personally?

The night in its entirety was the epitome of the carnival complete with frightening roller coaster rides and an abundance of characters prancing about with uninhibited abandon. While at times the latter were somewhat amusing, I cannot honestly say some of which could certainly be done without. It can never be stated too often, come to contribute not to consume.

iDJ loves you all but…

Who goes to a party and shits on the floor? I simply cannot fathom the nerve of this person; shame on you. I certainly hope that you can find it in your heart to somehow make it up to Galaksy who found himself with the unfortunately task of cleaning up your mess.

I understand that not everyone is currently enjoying his or her state of being. Altered minds can certainly be an enjoyable holiday when pure thought becomes the scariest high of all. With this in mind, I would like you to take a moment to consider what the ramifications of your actions could possibly mean to your community. Please do not come to our events to destroy yourself. We do not frown upon use. We frown upon abuse. Moderation is definitely the key to longevity in all that you do. Just because you enjoy the taste of chocolate cake does not mean that you have to eat it everyday.

What am I supposed to do when someone misbehaves at our events? Kick them out into –40 degree weather?

We throw our parties in the face of adversity, as we thumb our collective noses at authority. Do not make us regret the effort that we put forth simply to entertain you.

Two hundred thirty nine words and I have yet to mention anything about the music…

… D-Joos and Galaksy were solid as per the usual and Axionfigga and Jada warmed up the place nicely.

… A big up goes out to our guests from Pittsburgh (Bagel, Midas, MPS, and Ra) as well as hometown radio star, Phuz; a solid effort from everyone in the place. These are definitely stand-up gentlemen who deserve a round of applause for their patience within the precariously placed deejay booth. I take full responsibility for the poor set-up and I promise to strive to rectify the problem for all our future events. I certainly paid the price for my disgustingly sloppy excuse for a deejay booth, as I threw down a disgustingly sloppy set. I apologize. For those of you who have been to previous iDJ events or regularly come out to Blue Dog, you know what I am capable of; that set was definitely an uncharacteristic display and one that I hope we can all soon forget. I bow my head in shame. Come out early to Blue Dog or better yet late in the chill room at Kemal this Friday and I will make up for past mistakes.

Anything else…

Lost in the urban wasteland, I find solace in community. One of the beautiful things about existing in such an intimate community is that the truth about individuals is often exposed despite their attempts to represent themselves as the contrary.

"Psst, don't tell anyone but [fill in the blank]."

They are called "Open Secrets" (Alice Munro) and they have a habit of coming back to haunt. The community keeps us in check and reminds us that the more toes that you step on as you climb towards the top, the more times you will be kicked on your way down.

I told you once, but you did not listen. I am not going to coddle you just because you act like a child. Smarten up.

You don't know me.

I'm vexed.

Galaksy just played one of the most eclectic deejay sets that I have ever heard. How did he smoothly mix in the Ramones and the Beatles, with Bahamadia?

This Thursday the iDJ Takeover continues with the International Festival for Humanity 2003 path to peace, "Satori" featuring the music of:

Test Pilot (Human Beats in a Digital World)
Gadigadjo (Musique Festival de l'Europe de L'Est)
Accomplice (cognitive_vibe, USR, iDJ)

If you are interested, call me at 514.771.9018... If you are not interested, well... I suppose that is okay too.

Loot bags are virtually a neccessity for any good birthday party. Seb, you must have lived such an empty childhood if you have never had the pleasure of receiving a loot bag. I'm sorry :(

...

All the more reason for us to give out loot bags though.

And cake. You've got to have birthday cake at a birthday party.

Don't worry, I'm still around. I've been working like a proverbial dog (unlike Runway who is currently curled up in a cute little ball on the couch) trying to get the bills paid, but also (and more importantly) on track production. Heads will definitely get a taste of what is to come this Friday.

... By the way, I have had a few epiphanies regarding the future of iDJ (i.e. our birthday bash and March's iDJ).

I'm sorry that I missed this night because I was playing with members of my old sound project at an "ambient" (read acid) party... what? Without going into great detail, the highlight of the night for me was at the end of our set when I played "It's Okay to Say No!" (if you were there then you will know what I am talking about).

Regardless, it is good to hear that the crew held it down despite the extreme ghetto-ness factor. I always love hearing Galaksy spin; period.

Seb, I was just teasing you. In your review you wrote, "Jada, Axionfigga, D-Joos, Sixteen Armed Jack, Miss Bliss and Totem were all CRAZY!!" and I was simply wondering why I was not included. Regardless, a review of my set from you would be gratuitous because as you mentioned at the party, you were at the door during the duration of my set. It's all good. But this does actually bring to mind something that I failed to mention earlier. A big up definitely goes out to all of the kids who helped us who were behind the scenes and did not get recognition via flyers or posts or whatever. Val, Edith, and Host One, we could not have done it without you.

Once again another successful iDJ has passed. Thank you so very much to everyone who attended. You are the ones who we do this for. Though putting together these event takes more than a month's worth of hard work from several dedicated individuals, the ends of seeing so many smiling faces and twice as many feet unable to stop moving, most definitely justifies the means. We will keep on doing it for you as long as you keep on doing it for us.

A special shout out definitely must find its way to our three fantastic guests. Miss Bliss tore the mother phunkin' house down. I definitely want to hear this ragga queen spin more often. Sixteen Armed Jack, who seems to have partied harder (or hardier) than anyone else in the place, definitely pleased a packed house of kids who were seemingly bouncing off the walls. His set was absolute madness (I noticed that he recorded his set, I wonder if he will release it?...). And, Totem, played for the hardcores the only way he knows how, hardcore.

While the party receives a strong 8 out of a possible 10, this review was certainly lacking in flair and ease a readability, a low 2. Better luck next time.

Galaksy, don't I rate?
