just to clarify the whole situation, it was a question of respect. I was asked to play for free at the FREE party Absolute Destination, I accepted because after all I still love the music and it seemed it would be a good cause, and decent party... The day before the party, it became a non-free party, OK, still not getting paid, whack... but you know they needed a venue because of rain, that never came, w/e, I'll still participate. originally they had me at 5am, I said I couldn't do that because I worked at 7 am that same day... I asked for an earlier timeslot or I couldn't play, simple... they put me at 3am finally, that was better, still cutting it close but w/e, I can participate. so I convince two friends to come, 3am being pretty late for them (since they don't do pills anymore) but they could head home at 4am, get SOME sleep at least I get there at 2:30am, ready to go, friends and perhaps a person or two who appreciate what I play ready to hear it all. I put about 4 hours mastering two of my latest tracks to play them exclusive and for the first time that day so I was excited. First thing I see is that the guy who was supposed to play after me is playing (Psyrenity)... so I go up on stage, supposed to start soon anyway right? there's a guy there claiming to be the next DJ and that I have to find the promoter to clear shit up, wtf. I find him finally like 15 minutes later (2:50ish now), he tells me that a DJ didn't show up and that timeslots got moved up, meaning earlier... no one bothered to call me and let me know, but now what right? so I ask the dj after me if I can play at my original time, he says NP, respect. right then I go up to Psyrenity, who's dancing to his tracks harder than ANYone in the room, let him know it's my turn. "NO, I just went on, I'm playing for 1:30, you can play after me." he says, while obviously he'd been playing for more than 30 minutes. The guy isn't even mixing, he's letting tracks finish and pressing play on CDJ#2, WACK. SO I try to explain that I got work ["I WORK TOO!" he interupts] at 7am and that I can't stick around. That it was important for me from the beginning to NOT play late and that 3am was essentially MY timeslot, he tells me to 'step down', that HE brought deco and that it was basically HIS party and so I was going to wait for him to be satisfied. I push a little more cause I'm starting to get pissed (same old sketchy organized rave event starting to remind me why I stopped accepting non-paid gigs) Now he says something to the effect that the crowd/he is in a trance and you can't interrupt the trance because it's the Trance. what a retard (no offence to retards) I mean, at some point we'd switch, so the 'trance' would be interrupted, then what's the fucking difference. so he refuses a tag, which I graciously offer (because he brought some deco of course lol) he refuses to let me play my timeslot, insisting that it's his party and that he didn't book me anyway. wtf. how does that even work?! I leave him alone for a bit So it's 3:50am, I go up, prepare my first track, headphones, at 3:55 I remark that the track playing is already going to go over 4:00am and that I was short on time at 3:00am "I want to play till 4:15am", he informs me. "This is your last track, please step aside." I ask relatively politely but with fire in my eyes. he says: "One more track!" What am I going to do? Physically remove him? not very plur, so no. So he puts another track... starting queuing up ANOTHER one. "What the fuck is wrong with you man, it's 4:04 and your queuing up another track, YOU told me 4:00, here I am." I say He replies that the track is for his baby daughter and proceeds to show me a picture of her, as if I didn't believe that he had one or something... What the fuck, was his baby daughter there? I hope not but it wouldn't surprise me. So he plays this track that is like 170bpm, totally kills the vibe, my buddy on the dancefloor texts me that people look scare, nobody is dancing anymore and that I should punch Psyrenity in the vagina. lol Finally he 'sacks' his 'camp' and I go on to much rejoicing, from what I could tell. So FUCK you Psyrenity, you have NO respect for the people who were part of the scene long before you had your first period. Your deco is ugly, your music is crap and you can't mix. THIS is why the turnover is so high in the rave scene, because you don't respect the tried tested and true methods of throwing a proper event, you have the nerve to charge for a free party, NOT pay the talent, fuck with the timeslots and then treat the people you invite like shit. P.S. For information's sake, I was booked by K-DZO, I thought it was his party but I guess it wasn't, he was nice to me, even tried to get the Faggot off stage two but Faggot responded with the same weak BS to him. K-DZO: I have nothing against you man, your music is great imo. And to top things off, Psyrenity tells me he'll never book me again, to which I responded: "I never want to have anything to do with your laughable methods, cheap events and horrible presentation again, so thanks for the assurance." So Thanks Psyrenity for reminding me exactly why I was getting tired of this shit in the first place. |

I remember Usef being plenty nice to me at Psycore o_O It's psad that a Dj can't concede a little though, but you psee, that's a problem with a pscene who's Djs are used to playing more than an hour, and that the 'trance' is more important than mutual respect between Djs (which pseems like a pshitty reason, psince you weren't gonna go on with D'n'B or psomething) ... Id've said 'ok, gimme 45 minutes, then I'll play another 45 minutes after'. Perhaps he was too pstoned, and in his own bubble? Not a good excuse, but pstill excusable ... Anyway, if I to posted every time psome dick Dj/promoter bumped me, or went way over time, or pswitched up the pschedule at the last minute, the General Discussions board would be over 1000 pages already :P |
