Guess I'm lucky. Every Tuesday, I have to play the part of Promoter, not my favorite thing, and so I keep an eye on the clock, and when it's time to switch up I walk over to the DJ booth, and I'm like ''okay, it's time .. oh you're there .. ok uhm, uh, you already have your headphones on, uh .. sweet, have fun!'' ... In other words, I book professionals, and I don't even have to baby-sit or do my job, they just switch over when it's time, all by themselves. Love it.

If the person going over time is the BIG headliner you flew in from some distant planet, and he wants to throw in an extra 10 minutes, cool! If it's just another vat-grown dj clone tripping balls, then meh, move over and let the next person play, 'specially if its getting late in the night, 'cause think of the people down the line, the guy already playing shitty 7am slot might have to get bumped to 8am, and that sucks ass (and happens alot).

--In fact, I remember getting onstage at the Kinetik 1 After-Party, and telling Dj Producer that he could take some extra time if he wanted to (since it was only me on next, and he's trippin' the crowd like crazy), and he replied ''nah, I'm good, thnx''. So, theres the flipside ...

But, y'know, DJing IS like any other job, and there are selfish people everywhere (and I'm generalizing, not saying this is just Psyrenity) and dicks, and assholes, and people who love the heat of the spotlight, as if they are the sum of the parts of a rave ...

People like that, should find and occupy bar nights, where they can play for 5 hours straight. Of course, they'd have to compromise their music styles, but hey, it comes with bitches and coke ;)

Ah, DJs ... sometimes we have to be assholes to eachother, sometimes we're too nice to eachother :)
I'm feeling you up right now..

lame. seems like you have some kind of personal beef with Alienzed, so you're taking this opportunity to attack him. it sounds like he was being treated very unprofessionally, and despite that, he still handled it in an even-tempered manner. he even offered to play a b2b set with the guy who hijacked his slot.

huh??? so nobody else is accountable for their actions? so if a DJ agrees to play a party, and the promoter or their friends try and punk them.. you're saying it's the DJs fault? so if they have a negative experience with shady people, then they should stop DJing? don't be an idiot.

that just sounds so wack. what does that even mean? people should let themselves get clowned just cuz they're at a rave? speak for yourself.

jacking somebody's timeslot is *serious* disrespect. I think he handled it well. a lot of people would snap. If I got booked to play a certain time, that's the deal. especially if there's an understanding that you have to go to work. if some local hero snaked that slot and got snotty about it, I'd either get the promoter to come kick him off peacefully, or I'd just pull the plug on the mixer and take it from there.

... that said, there's been times when i have had situations like that, but to respect my friend's night, I didn't cause drama. I fully remember some dick taking my timeslot - even though the promoter clearly told me he wanted me to play the prime slot. This dick went behind my back and told the promoter that he was taking the prime slot, and I would open. I wanted to grab this weasel by the hair and slap the shit out of him. but I didn't wanna bring heavy vibes and ruin the night with drama. the promoter is a mad chill guy who I have a lot of respect for, and it wasn't his fault the other DJ was so sneaky.

fuck people who make shady moves like that

I don't understand why everyone let psyrenity play his 1h30 set. Ok there was a free timeslot, good thing! just give the dj's a bit more time, but if the guy came at 3 to play at 3, let him play his timeslot? If i was AlienZed i would have just get the fuck out of this party.

I got asked to dj this girls Bday once, about 16 years ago, it was where Reservoir is now on Duluth...Anyhow I show up and there's like 15 people there, 7 djs and 8 girls. So I look at the dj booth and there's like 5 of these idiots fighting over whose gonna put on the next record

So I'm like "fuck these clowns, let them fight over the decks, I'm gonna go talk to the girls"...So anyhow about an hour later of random shitty mixes of random songs put on by a bunch of douchebag djs, the BDay girl comes up and she's like "Hamish dear, I want you to play the music, just you, for the rest of night"

So I was like "cool, no problem". I go over there and round up all the djs and tell them "Times up kids, get the fuck off the decks" and then proceeded to play my set hahaha...you should have seen the look on their faces...Priceless :)

Anyhow thats my story about dealing with fucking djs

She's absolutely got a point though. You're the promoter. It's *YOUR* party. If someone is doing something they shouldn't, then fucking man up and handle it or get the fuck out of "promoting" and take up knitting or something.

If someone goes into a restaurant, drop their pants and start taking a shit on the floor, and the manager comes up and tells them to leave, and they say "Fuck off, you can't interrupt the turd", is the manager just gonna say "oh, well. Ok. Cary on then."? No. He's going to call the cops, before or after physically taking you away.

When you throw a party, it's YOUR party, which means you're the authority on what goes on, PERIOD, and if a DJ is telling you, the promoter, to "leave him alone" because you're going to "break the trance", you cut the volume on the mixer, tell him in front of everyone that you want him to leave, because it's the next DJ's turn, and that is that. If he wants to throw a fit or a tantrum, that will just show everyone the kind of egotistical douchebag that he is, and he's pretty much going to blacklist himself with that kind of attitude.

Was what psyrenity did a retarded thing? Yes. But you not stepping up and taking charge of YOUR party and solving a problem? That's even shittier.

Lol...That's a great analogy

Although if you think about it, if Psyrenity is the shitter and K-zo is the restaurant manager, then technically that makes Alien Zed the turd.

Yes, you learned. Remember that for next time - your party, your rules. Don't let attitude walk all over you, because the more he gets away with it, the more this kind of douchebag will think he can pull this shit all the time.
