Dj's should NOT have to chase someone around to be paid. Maybe you can both learn from the experience. Don't come if you don't get paid in advance and you wanna charge a ridiculous amount or come and get what you get because your internationalism just wasn't good enough to pack a place and you decided to take the risk and come. A professional booking manager will always get something in advance and contracts made. |

How would you like it if your boss at work owed you a say.........$1000 paycheque, and only gave you $750, made you drive around chasing him to get the rest, and then basically told you to fuck off? You'd be PISSED! This is no different. |

If I got 760$ out of 1000$ on a verbal contract for working an hour I'd be pretty happy. There was nothing written down. I've booked people from a major booking agency and there was no denying the service which was to be rendered on BOTH sides as it was all on paper with signatures on both sides.

I also had to drive us up from New York. Consider that this total fee isn't all money going into our pockets, it's money we put upfront to get to the actual event!
Masa: We were never told/promised we would be paid at a later date. If this had been mentioned, it would be a slightly different situation now. Instead, we were lead on a goose chase around the city and strung on by putting good faith in JS that he would come through. Finished off with "sorry guys, just leave Montreal". I also understand that I don't speak French, and some of you aren't native English speakers so there are bound to be points lost in translation. So please take that into account. |
