I'm sure a number of people can remember a thread which was started months ago revolving around the horrible accident that killed young Angie Espeche early on December 9th 2009. If any of you remember that thread and the comments made there in I can tell you that much of what was written was particularly harmful to the family of Angie (not just on this site). The facts are now made public - please refer to the attached link as the truth is now public knowledge.

About fucking time he admits he fucked up instead of playing the victim and claiming he was driving "at the speed limit"

I hope he gets jailtime.

Wrong person, I'm the one that got everyone to hate him because I had enough common sense to know that you do NOT kill someone in a car accident if you're driving 35-40km/h unless you get some REAL bad luck.

QFT. I remember that. And I agreed. I now suddenly feel bad for all those who took his side and bashed you for supposedly being heartless.

I tried my best to translate the article as closely as possible to the original text for our english friends in here. Hopefully it's ok.

Caroline Touzin
La Presse

Three months after killing his girlfriend and injuring another passenger in a car accident when speeding at 125 km/h in a 30 km/h zone, a Montreal teenager had enough of the negative rumours circulating about him on Facebook.

On this social networking website, friends of his girlfriend, Angie Espeche, accused the 17 year old teenager of mistreating her when she was alive. The young man responded to them on the same website by issuing death threats. That only made it worse for him.

Already accused of death due to reckless driving and multiple injuries due to reckless driving, the teenager was also charged with issuing death threats to two of the victim's friends. Accompanied by his mother and his father-in-law, the young man pleaded guilty yesterday to these four counts in Montreal juvenile court.

A dozen of relatives and close friends of Angie, 17 years old, were present during the appearance in court. The victim's grandmother, who was wearing a pin bearing the victim's face, shed a lot of tears during the proceedings.

The teenager, who's name cannot be disclosed because of the court's orders, was rubbing his hands frequently, looking visibly nervous. When asked by judge Juanita Westmoreland-Traoré if he admits culpability in this matter, he squinted and said being inconvenienced by the court's lights.

On december 9 2008, around 2 am, the accused was driving his mother's vehicle with two passengers on board, one of them being his girlfriend Angie Espeche. He had a temporary driver's license. The passengers didn't have any. "He didn't have the right to drive at night" insisted Crown attorney Jean-Sébastien Bussière when reading the details of that night.

The vehicle was going at a speed of 126 to 148 km/h on Gouin Boulevard in Pierrefonds, in a zone of 30 km/h. The driver lost control and hit a car parked in a driveway, then a tree, and ended its course in another car parked in another driveway. The street was dry and the road's condition excellent. Excessive speed was the cause of the accident, indicated the Crown.

Angie Espeche, 17 years old, sitting in the front, never stood a chance. She was unconscious were paramedics arrived, still trapped inside the vehicle. Her friend, sitting in the back, suffered from a fractured back. She was in court yesterday.

The 17 year old teenager was arrested a month later then confined to a residence 24 hours a day, waiting for the justice system to process his case. And so, on march 15, two of the victims friends both logged a complaint to the police regarding him. The accused sent them messages ordering them to stop implying he mistreated his girlfriend when she was alive and that, if they didn't stop, he would pay someone to "take care of them". He ended these messages with "Don't fuck with me".

Despite the fact that his client pleaded guilty to accusations of death threats, his attorney, Me Jean-Pierre Authier, also wanted to add : "my client and his mother were threatened by phone and e-mail. They were forced to move three times. My client decided to respond this by issuing these threats". Further studies on this sentence are set for november 10.
