And if you have time after promoting the fuck out of your event and those other 50 guidelines...Make deco! Seriously theres not enough deco in parties...it really makes a world of difference for the vibe. And its purty :)
I'm feeling happy :) right now..

Deco is nice but it seems to be 100 times more fun putting that stuff than removing it, impregnated with raver sludge/smell, the next morning.

meh it not that bad... the big rave i did, sysmyk storm, we spent most every tuesday building deco for at least 3 months with a team of 5-6 people, took a whole week to setup, clean-up the room and install all the deco + lighting with the same team... cept the day of the event we were, maybe 10 people setting up... taking it down took about 6-7 hours...with a team of 5

that was... alot of work.... but god damn.... seriously... that fucking party rocked
I'm feeling sinus right now..

I read something in this thread that said something like "it is our concern" how parties are getting thrown..

it makes me a little indifferent.. i mean, as a raver going to a random party, i think its more about the "experiance" more than "wow, what a sound system" .. you get it??

I mean, its great to have everything perfect at a party, but without people having fun, what's the point ? If people need good sound systems to have fun in the second room of a party we should ask ourselves some questions !! people are getting so freaking snobby around here its crazy. Why have standards increased so much ?? how does a party affect our scene more than the fucken cry-babies who complained about useless stuff afterwards on forums ??

i mean, if people just had some fun at parties more and didn't focus on the details maybe our scene would be heathier.. you know, be a little ignorant sometimes !!

I am not saying that all parties should have crappy set-ups in pitch-black warehouses with my grandma's TT's and a newmark mixer but people should be able to tell the difference between parties. I mean, what are people to expect from a party without a flyer ??

we are not all Ray Junior over here you know. Maybe people should start to attend 514 parties more often or maybe BeB or BnB !!! great sound over there that's for sure. !!

anyone get my point a little ??

I mean, just as an example, a party i've really had fun at was INTENSE in quebec city about 2 years ago.. the music was probably the worst i've ever heard in my life but that was only 20% of the night.. the people there were great and the vibe was even better.. to be able to walk through 5 different rooms was exactly what i was looking for (exersize in that case as i didnt' stay in any for longer than 10 minutes) !! lol

:)

How about NOT BEING CHARGED 20$ at the door ? Heh.

People should throw all the parties they want but you can't call your backyard an airport just cause you got a 70 foot long asphalt alley there, you know. :)

Unless that experience ends up being, "very small place with no ventilation, no water and computer speakers." I don't care if the people were nice. If I pay 15$-20$ for a 3 1/2 with comp speakers, I'll be fucking upset.

Because I could have done the same in MY apartment for 0$.

i.e Jojo_Bizarre and his UV has more success both in sound, quality and crowd than some of the last "events" I've been to. :D

As far as "whining on forums"... just don't read the Nightlife Raviews if it bothers you so much.

I see your point Vinny, but the main thing here is that they charged 20$ at the door, so for that money you kinda expect a bit more than you would do at a 5$ event, right?

Let's compare:
Squiggles And Scribbles
10.00 - Presale
20.00 - At the door
15.00 - People from Quebec and Ottawa, with proof of residence

Rewire 4: Enter The Bunny
First 500 @ 10$
Next @ 20$
Door (If any left) @ ???

pretty close money wise, same concept, 2 rooms, local deejays... right?
now the kids go to rewire and they're "omg its the best party ever", Sound system, lights, visuals, proper bar and all that jazz and they paied 20$!

and then comes this other party...
the kis go, and they're like "omg i can't see shit, and where's that sound coming from? are there any speakers?.. can we drink something here?.. man i still can't see shit... did i pay 20$ for this?"

But yeah i didn't go i don't know...

Rewire was all kinds of kickass. That was my principal argument against having to pay 30$+ for Taste the Rainbow.

I am glad you guys liked Rewire.. hehehe !!

i guess you guys are right in a way also. i can understand you guys are pissed for paying a certain amount with certain expectations. I guess its all about expectations in the end because if we didn't have any, we wouldn't be disapointed.. its not always as easy as saying "ohh, the party is 20$'s at the door so there should be at least a decent setup" ..

getting back to Ravedave's example... for Rewire, i can expect at least 400 people per event, therefor, i know that @ 20$'s a pop i'll generate about 8000$'s to pay for stuff so i have more $$ to invest into deceent sound, a proper venue and lights/deco..

for smaller parties, they end up charging the same because, well, they know that, in the best of cases, there will only be 200 people. its not the same budget even though the ticket prices are the same !!

One of the promoters wanted to buy 400 braclets for the party from me, so they were expecting a lot more than 200 :)

I strongly disagree. ...so much that I had to post it even if it bumps the topic up.

It's just a pile of organized negative comments about what people dislike from the last partys they attend... In the worst case, it's just gonna give ravers the illusion they can organize somethin' after reading this...

Let me take that back... It's just a pile of negative comments.

If you guys really want to "educate" promoters, be more selective about who you give your week-end money.

...

I said: BE MORE SELECTIVE ABOUT WHO YOU GIVE YOUR WEEK-END MONEY!

expect more, make sure the bar is raised, evolve dammit ! Warehouse partys where better 15 years ago than some of 05-06-07-08... whatever you base your judgment on: sound, bar, transportation, deco, etc...

Enough negativity, Jester prod. (Rewire) was a good exemple, let me help you find the other ones:

Beatconcierge: [ www.myspace.com ]
Frogland Breakers: [ www.myspace.com ]
Oui-R1 or Filthy Crew or whatever Peet call his production...

There's enough there to go out from thursday nights to sunday sunny afternoons... no?

Ask any of those promoters if they read the "Promoter's Bible" before throwing a party... it's all about SKILLS, not joke-listing of fake rules.

you can stick it now...
I'm feeling my holy pepperoni right now..
