yeah, but I'm also too poor to afford CDs to burn stuff on :P

plus I have no CDJs at home, so I can't practice with any new tunes.

hehe yeah.. the only thing I can do really is use Traktor (which I should get around to doing.. need to bring a mixer into my room..) or, what I'm doing for my mixes that I post, and do everything in Ableton.. which is fun with the amount of stuff you can do.. but I still miss playing shit on vinyl.

Obviously, you haven't been paying attention about Screwhead and jobs. :/

BTW Fred, I'm in the same predicament right and I probably will start sharpening my skills on Traktor as well, just to keep me in the loop. :)

Traktor is amazing.. well, I dunno about the new Traktor 3, but the old 2.6 is my favorite.. with a cheap 5.1 surround sound card, just set it to output deck A to the front and deck B to the rear, and use 2 1/8" to RCA to hook it up to your mixer.

Traktor 3 is awesome. I just loved version 2 (minus 1!!!) but I love the small new improvements they threw in for v.3.

Here's what you could do : find Traktor 3, install, try it and see which one you like best. That's what I did and after analyzing the latest version for weeks, proceeded to uninstall its previous iteration.

It's up to you, really. You might end up detesting Traktor 3 but I still suggest giving it a whirl. :)

I'd tried it before, and I didn't really like it much.. There seemed to be too much stuff to fiddle around with, and nothing as straightforward as the cdj-style interface of Traktor2.. I don't need all the extra bells and whistles and filters and 4 decks, I just want a pitch-slider and the +/- pushbuttons to speed up and slow down..

Yeah but...have you seen the options menu ? LOL.

I've removed most of the crap that opened by default up there ( not so hot about the gazillion effectors it proceeds to open on the top bar on software start ) and indeed got rid of the extra decks. I'm running the exact same setup as v.2.6., WITHOUT all the bells and whistles.

I'm old school as well. Just give me two decks, a mixer and a couple of knobs, THAT'S it. I never even used the " 4/8/16/32 beat loop function. Same goes with all the EQs and plugins.
