m-audio is pretty much the bottom of the barrel...
on all the models i've tried the sound is very colored and warm... i found this on nuskoolbreak.co.uk though and its pretty accurate. check it out.... [ www.nuskoolbreaks.co.uk ] there is some good tips on speaker placement and room treatment as well.

dont ever buy m audio ... lot of people told me they were great... i got to listen to them and they sounded really bad .. i mean the sound was no way accurate.. and it souded wierd, i tried alesis with le same system and like 8 other pairs ... the alesis where the best one ive heard ... i never hear a par of monitors wich souded better... but there is a couple of them u guys noted that i didnt listen to ... so im not saying alesis a the best ...

the dx4 and the bx5 are too small. You won't get the bass response you need. For smaller monitors I found the fostex one's were pretty decent. Update » nothingnopenope wrote on Fri Oct 27, 2006 @ 4:40pm seriously I would suggest going for something with 8 inch drivers though, any smaller you probably won't get good enough bass response for electronic music. |

yeah and what happens with these kind of monitors is you dont really need a subwoofer .. because it will give too much bass and when you will play your track on a big system, it will miss bass since you didnt gave much because your sub was over-producing bass .... please .... dont produce with subwoofers!
i got the alesis mk2 and they give allready enough bass for a 6' like i told in this thread b4 Update » Deadfunk wrote on Fri Nov 3, 2006 @ 8:23am one of the best thing is to look a pictures of studios and see what they got ...
not only electronic studios but all kind ... the one i see coming back most often ... it has a white speaker but i did not find what was the name of the monitor ... then you got a wide variety of alesis that i saw and some other brand name here, like the rockit and stuff, but the best is to but 2 pairs and allways compare, if you got enough money!!! And one trick is to test your track on different system, car system , mp3/portable cd, hi-fi living room system ect ... so you can see what mastering/compression sounds best in overall!
I'm feeling nothing right now.. |

the speaker with the white driver is the yamaha ns-10 and they don't make them anymore.. They were trendy a few years ago but they don't actually have great sound. |
