Well Mark, I personally love having a smartphone (well, an Iphone in my case, but it's not better than any other smartphone I guess) cause I need to have a calendar, access to internet and that I like the possibility to have apps that do lots of useful things (having a desjardins access on your phone, a gps, a QR code reader, fun games for when you're bored in the subways and all those not-so-useful but still enjoyable things...)

It's a damn phone...not a way of life, or a clothing style, or a way of expressing one self. Therefore, I chose to go with what I find the most practical. The Iphone does it's job pretty well for me: it's simple, straight to the point, and offers me all I need.

I'm not saying that the iphone is better than other smart phones...but I'm used to the apple interfaces and don't have any technical problem with their products.

The other phone I was thinking about at the time when I got mine was the Google phone (Nexus one). But it wasn't out yet and I decided to go with the Iphone. I'd say you should check the Nexus if you don't wanna get an Iphone.

You can't tell me that no one in the Psy scene hates on HC, when I've read it myself, on a number of occasions.

It's been said before, but maybe you should stop looking at posts by psytrancers on this forum as representative of the whole psytrance scene. If I was to consider posts by people on this forum as representative of the whole human race, I'd sure as hell feel depressed because of all the drama and nonsense.

I personally think this scene war thing is totally unproductive.

I may not be a fan of Hardcore but I don't see why I should despise the Hardcore scene or wish it any harm. I see myself as a countercultural element much more than anything else. Sticking to one specific scene, limiting oneself to one genre of music, one group of friends or scene, I feel is a bit restrictive.

If they tax marijuana, it would bring more money for to the government to spend on social services or something else, would be more expensive and therefore would stop some people from smoking too much. Anyways, we are at that point where there probably wouldn't be more people smoking if it was legal.

I'm all for marijuana being legal and taxed.

Great party, good vibes, nice deco.

Glad there was two rooms. The psytrance room was cool but a bit too dark/uptempo for me (matter of taste). So I ended up spending most of the night in the second room.

Amazing sets by Zentrix, Subtone and Living Stone. Those guys totally blew me away.

Mickos...

If you know what I mean.

-0-o Heyoka LIVE ! o-0- {Multimusic / USA}

Heyoka, AKA Andrei Olenev, is a cosmic auditory scientist found in the Bay Area noosphere, who has been blowing minds with his sonic manipulations.Muti Music first released Heyoka’s “Space Case EP” in 2008 and included him on their growing ...roster of talented artists. His albums 'Whomp Gland & Pineal Dub', 'Gate Code' and the 'Marklar' and 'Cosmic Boogie' albums in 2010 have shown that he is a producer consistently evolving his musical style while managing to maintain a signature sound that is distinctively 'Heyoka'. He comes back in 2011 with the new album 'Mandelbass' that pushes the boundaries of bass music into unnexplored territories. His early influences in Downtempo, Dub and IDM combined with midtempo dancefloor genres have helped create a very unique sound that combines relentless basslines, hip hop rhythms, dub vibes, and musicality and melody, all within an atmosphere of heavy psychedelia and alien dimensions. The response to his emergence so far has been overwhelming with Heyoka developing audiences and playing festivals from US to Canada and Australia. For a mind bending experience in dub inspired Glitch Hop, keep your ear to the ground for Heyoka playing a city or festival near you.

"Living~Stone brings game. Genre hopping loop teaser, anywhere this boy is there’s a party. Even the most sceptical folk-rock fanatic has been known to drop their tambourine and break into the dubstep slow bump at the drop of his hi-hat shuffle over the dirty big bass. He is a jump up raver behind the decks- quite blatantly having as much fun throwing down the tracks as the bouncing pit of happy before him. He's behind the booth but there is no division between him and the dance floor. His IS the dance floor. Pushing the genre to its party maximum, while previously loved tracks are given a new lease on life new ones are tested, the reactions noted and all the while the revelry continues. Just try and stand still to this dub monkey’s big sound".

Most of the older (2005-2007) dubstep is really chill stuff.

Skream's self titled album. Kromestar, Mala and Coki (digital mystikz), Plastician, Distance, Burial...

Look for the DMZ releases for the older and more chill beats.

Kode9 is a true pioneer of bass music, his Memories of The Future is incredible. His label, Hyperdub, also releases lots of good stuff by amazing producers.

By the way...this "chill dubstep" is the original dubstep. It's a shame people don't know about this music a little more.

When drugs are involved, very very bad people are always lurking nearby.

Maybe you're not hanging around the good people? Haven't seen anything that could have gone wrong at Open Mind. No sketchy people, no one shaking and acting twitchy because of too much stimulants. Mainly people on psychedelic enjoying their festival.

Also...I guess that since drugs are that bad, bringing children to events where there is alohol being sold or consumed is also not a good idea?

I know. What I'm saying exactly is that if you look past the fact that it's getting "mainstream" and focus on the positive elements, you can still enjoy your party. I love small parties and more intimate settings with fewer but more select people, but those small parties don't have the mean to build huge deco/art/installations and bring tons of diverse music/headliners.

Shambhala's great even if it's getting more mainstream. But I've seen it already so if I gotta have a big party this year it's gonna be BM.

Also, there is tons of other interesting festivals in Canada and in the US.
