Has anyone been to burning man?

Did u enjoy it? did u find 8 days of partying to be too intense? Did you suffer permanent brain damage from the drugs? Would you again? Would you recommend it to someone else? Whats your favorite part of it all? Whats it like?
I'm feeling a overhang right now..

This party looks like the bomb! All dusty, druged out hippies in the desert!

Thought of going this year but after cherry picking and Shambhala (wich I strongly recommand), New-Zealand here I come!!!

One week of partying must be pretty hardcore. Especially when they don't have a water tank to wash out the dust or to rehydrate yourself (that what they say on the website). You must bring your own.

How many people are attending this event every year?

Defenitly on my to do list before I die or to old to move!
I'm feeling womenized right now..

I got an invite to go with some friends, and am trying to decide. It sounds a little way too intense. 8 days of madness. Like shambhala is 3 nights, requires a 2 week recovery, and ur exhausted by the last night. I have the feeling this might be too much...i guessi could do the first few days sober or something...wait, thats an amazing idea. Just do a few days sober!!!! genius. i wonder if anyone else has thought of that.

i have many friends/acquaintances who go, some of them each years..

it seems like a very diversify event. and very unique..

i never been really excited by it.. but when i meet my friends/acquaintances who just come back and they tell me about it, i got really interested.. by their stories.. and what they saw there..their experiences.. very different one from another because they are all very different people..

maybe one day.. it's b/c of the pain in the ass with preparation (you need to bring ur water etc...) and i don't know if i'm "social" enough.. but where ever i travel my principal fun come from walking..i can walk for hours.. and i think i would have mad fun walking around that short lived "town"..

i could drive there but it's quite a road trip! it's 1 day and 18 hours from my house!
I'm feeling hitched right now..

Been to Burning Man twice. 2006 and 2010. If you think burning man is a party, you are looking at it the wrong way. IT's a very festive event for sure, but raves are just a very small part of the whole thing. Anyway, if you really wanna know about the event, their website is pretty full of very interesting information, but all i feel like telling you right now is that burning man is all about art, meeting people, sharing experiences and letting go. If you go there only to party you are missing the whole point and partying all the time in the desert can be pretty fucking dangerous. And i'm not a weak bitch when it comes to partying.
Good luck to get there, it takes a lot of good will.
I'm feeling what the fuck les gens right now..

I realize your getting feedback from people who haven't actually gone. And I'm one of those too, but I've spoken to a few that have gone and listened to many podcasts that often make reference to Burning Man, and it seems to be lie what Flakie_Passion said.

I hear that Burning Man is not about raving. From what people told me they spend most of their time chatting. They visit all the tents, trade all kinds of silly and necessary things. Also a main attraction is all the conferences taking place at all kinds of different hours. I was even told once that the dance floor is the most empty spot, people are really buzzing around meeting new people. From the videos, people seem to mainly build crazy apparatus, costumes an ride along like mad hatter.

I think you should go. Read all the info on their site, the way they do things seems to be different from our parties. Lots of safety and logistic concerns.
I'm feeling punkadelic right now..

Burning Man sucks, don't go there ... you will waste your time and money !! Instead, support your local hippies festivals, and scene like Open Mind !!
I'm feeling unplugged...again right now..

Wow! I knew that Burning Man was not just about partying. It's an Art Festival, but what Flakie_Passion said really caught my curiosity! I wanna go even more, knowing that it's more about human relationships than just ravin' for a week.

I doubt we'll ever have the chance to see bigass art pieces like they have over there anywhere locally. I love our parties and festivals, I love our local crowd, but I'm definitely thinking about going to Burning Man for the art and experience of it.

Wanna go this summer after a couple of BC festivals (probably not Shambhala this year though).

Is Adam paying you to support Open Mind? Haha...just kidding.

Shambhala definitely doesn't suck. It's definitely one of the best canadian parties.

Pretty sure Shambhala gets criticised everywhere. The truth is that it's getting more popular and known by the mainstream crowd so obviously it ends up attracting some troublemakers. There's no way to avoid this. In terms of music and deco and party, I doubt it's "getting bad".

There's always people who will look down on Shamb saying "it used to be better". The truth is that it's probably these people who are getting old and rusty.

I personally didn't go to Shamb last year because I wanted to spend time in the festivals here in Quebec and probably won't go next year cause I prefer to spend time in the smaller festivals (probably Entheos and our festivals here) and BM if I can afford it. Shambhala's always awesome, but it's a big fucking crazy monster at the same time and I don't think I'll have the energy for it this summer (then again, the iine up is what will convince me to go or not).
I'm feeling the farce right now..

I could have mention Eclipse, but not this year, or El Hal, but whatever...
