Justice Donald Taliano gave Ottawa until July to fix the federal medical marijuana program or face the prospect of effectively legalizing possession and production of cannabis.

In a ruling released earlier this week, Taliano found the program to be unconstitutional because sick people cannot get access to medical marijuana through appropriate means and must resort to illegal actions such as growing their own supply.

As a result, ill people who should be able to get the drugs are branded as criminals, he said in the decision.

The St. Catharines justice declared the program to be invalid, as well as the laws prohibiting possession and production of cannabis, since they can be used to criminally charge medical users unable to get the drugs through legal avenues.

this as been a problem since forever.. back in 99 and 2000 i used to vonlunter at club compassion on rachel.. the medical users were legit because of their governmental exemption but we(the volunteers) and the farmers were constantly fighting troubles with cops.. the best is always to grow your own supply but majority of my clients were in terminal phase i don't see how a greatly sick person could have been cultivating weed.. which is long and take a lot of care.. club compassion was a second best solution and because we were a non-profit org. we were selling at very low price... and the best quality...

last w-e i was i amsterdam and since my last few travels there i was really into the blue cheese and amnesia haze.. but then this time a new very potent one was available... "green crack' omg it has been years i had been stoned like that.. it's a stems from california medical dispensary.
I'm feeling hitched right now..

change that for alcohol (especially hard liquor) and you have your counter-argument. people would still know that stuff is bad and something like educ-marie would likely be created with its taxes.

If they tax marijuana, it would bring more money for to the government to spend on social services or something else, would be more expensive and therefore would stop some people from smoking too much. Anyways, we are at that point where there probably wouldn't be more people smoking if it was legal.

I'm all for marijuana being legal and taxed.
I'm feeling the farce right now..

I highly doubt the government would tax marijuana as much as the black market does.

I think marijuana should definitely be legalized. If it worked for Canada, then it would set a precedent for the legalization of other scheduled drugs.
