LA CIBLE MOUVANTE

Becoming, c’est le nom du dernier album de Dj Ben, et en un sens son premier ! Après une riche discographie (plus de 25 projets), enfin il se pose et prend le temps d’expérimenter toutes les idées qu’il avait mises de côté. Nourri de ses rencontres avec les scènes Drum’n’Bass – Hip Hop – Jazz, avec toujours comme fil conducteur la recherche du Break.

Légitimement Jungliste, et au risque de surprendre, il a voulu élargir les horizons de la Drum’n’Bass à un public plus vaste et ne pas le cantonner au dancefloor qu’il produit habituellement.

Becoming ancre toutes ces influences et diverses rencontres. On y retrouve donc Rimshot d’Interlope, Chakal 900, Laurent de Wilde, Gaël Horelou et les MC’s AM’N et Jamalski : un album mûri comme un aboutissement.

Originaire des Antilles, Ben vient d’une famille de musiciens. Batteur de formation classique, zouk (comme son père), il a fait du chemin depuis ses premiers mixes au cours des légendaires soirées "Jungle Vibes" au Gibus vers 95-97.

Début 97, il part à Londres pour couper sa première dub-plate. Premier artiste français à signer un maxi sur un label anglais (PHAT TRAX), il s’imprègne du savoir-faire des Junglistes UK auprès de l’équipe de Clayton Hines . Il rencontre alors Le Lutin avec qui il forme TP700 et Modul 8, et produit en parallèle avec Dj Volta sous le nom de "La Cible Mouvante" qui sera signée sur SMOKERS’INC, puis sur URBANTAKEOVER – label de Aphrodite & Mickey Finn pour leur maxi "Tracknar Stryknin".

Il se connecte avec le collectif UHT° en leur remixant un titre sur l’album "Pic de Pollution", puis participe au procédé musical sans visa "Boum Ba Clash" avec Gnawa Njoum Experience.

Depuis mars 2003, on le retrouve sur scène auprès de Laurent de Wilde, puisqu’il a activement participé à son album "Stories", en y co-écrivant et coproduisant 3 titres.

A suivre pour juin 2003 la sortie d’un nouveau maxi 45T "Existenz" sur son propre label Drum Force.

En set Dj, il utilise des platines MK2, une table de mixage Pioneer DJM600, Final Scratch (Stanton), et une MPC 2000XL. Il est accompagné de son MC AM’N (un londonien installé à Tours).
